Evening all,
A relative of mine has an NZ new 1969 VW Variant wagon that has been in the family for a number of years, and has sat in a shed for the past 15-odd years. For personal reasons, she is now needing to sell it but has no idea what it may be worth, nor do I. I'm quite interested in it, but would ideally like to get a rough idea of what it might be worth to give her a fair price.
From what i know, its a 1969 Variant Squareback, has done roughly 120,000 KMs or Miles. It turns over, but doesnt run - unsure what would be needed to get it back on the road, but the body is sound, interior is tidy, has the original plates etc. I'm yet to confirm that the rego is on hold, so potentially needs to be re-registered.
Can anyone tell me what they'd expect something like this to sell for? (i know the details are vague, but any advice is welcome).

They're on trademe, may sell before I get around to hacking them up.

Nope, i dont imagine they'd get certed anyway would they? I always see Pine's wheels with 'for track use only' etc.
Even if the actual wheels could be certed, it wouldnt be worth my time making them sizes that could run legal tyres. Im wanting them huge.- 1

I did try Pine but they didnt have the tools or barrels at the time, will try again.
I've heard that Bateman can be a bit shit, people getting wheels back with completely different widths/offsets etc.

Again, just wondering if people know of a company that can do this.
I have a bank to offer me financial advice.

I could buy a similar set of the same wheels, in a similar size to what i want to make from Japan for around $12k.

Im not fussed about selling, if someone pays what im asking them they're gone... But it's always been my intention to make 3 piece anyway. Just wanting to talk to someone about cost etc.

Alright, so far no one has purchased my wheels, possibly over priced? not sure, but im not interested in reducing the price.
Im now considering the possibility of turning them into 3 piece wheels... Does anyone know a company that is able to do this? and do a good job?
They are currently 14x6.5 +9, maybe looking at 14x10 and 14x9, or even going to 14x12.

That's my old lip, will fit your one a bit better. This is a photo of it on mine.

Went for the MRP wilwood kit in the end. Should be done next week

Just factory at this stage, with BC Gold coilovers

Yeah just standard, callipers the size of babies feet
I'm also looking at doing a decent upgrade now since I'm going to need a cert regardless and I don't want to have to re-cert later on if I want to upgrade again.

Hey all,
I'm looking at upgrading the brakes in my AE70. I am pretty set on the MRP wilwood kit, but want to consider other options before commiting. The car is just a street car, running a NA 4age on itbs, nothing huge. May have the occasional track day.
This is what I've looked into:
http://www.mrpltd.co.nz/product/350/ae86-ke70-big-brake-kit.html
Has anyone else got this or a similar wilwood kit in their AE86/KE70/AE70 etc and can shed some light on their performance?
Also, does anyone have any alternatives, looking around the $1200-$1500 mark for calipers, pads, braided lines and disks.
Cheers

Decided to sell it. It started perfectly and rides amazing, but I need to finish the corolla before Nats next year and the money from this should make a big dent in that.
I'm possibly dreaming for my reserve, but unless it sells for a decent price, id rather keep it.
In case anyone is interested.

I didn't realise, these things sell for a small fortune in the UK. 4000 pounds + for a very tidy one.

Have a look at 'Fizzy Days', a movie about these bikes. Has a banging blonde getting off on them, pussy magnets.

Gave it a quick clean tonight, not too bad for sitting around for 4 years.

Cheers, much more helpful.
This is the sort of thing I'm looking at

It's up to you really but seeing you're asking that might mean you haven't done it before 'cause if you had you'd realise restoration is a love affair often only rewarded by people loving what you've done to keep gold old fashioned values alive and feeling entirely chuffed you decided to do it... after learning to do well a whole bunch of stuff you might never have intended to learn.
You wanna make money then oil absolutely everything liberally, shrink wrap it and remove the oxygen and then store it for another forty years... actually you'd want some advice on the plastic and rubber, oil may not be so good.
Thanks for the unhelpful advice. I'm well aware of the time, money and effort that goes into restoring or building a project.
I was more after the advice from people about whether something like this is worth keeping original, or if it's just 'another' motorbike that wouldn't matter either way.
I don't want to ruin it by giving it some flashy paint job if it's worth more, and worth while keeping the original paint. I didn't purely buy it to make money, but it would be nice to have it worth something down the line.

To be honest, thats probably more than i'd be paying for it - the car is located in Gisborne so don't have more details at the moment but if someone is interested and is willing to pay a good price, get in contact and i'll see if a deal can be made.
