  1. Nah nothing noticable from the drivers seat looking back. I have just been in contact with the old owner. She was told (2 years ago) when she bought it that it had a "full service" and in that time she hasn't done any maintenance work. On my way home, best I stop in to RIPCO and get a oil filter, fuel filter, air filter, some oil.. I'm going to check the vacuum lines as well. Who the fuck doesn't do an oil change in two fucking year! "How many KM's have you done in the last two years".. her response "Oh, I duno.."

  2. What gets me is that once it's started, it's sweet as for starting.. I just tried starting again as it's been sitting since 10am and it's finally started after the 20th turn. I had a look under the hood, the leads have recently been replaced as they look new. Could this be done cause of the wrong fireing order?

It's got a plastic fuel filter, so I am going to change that. I'll whip off the spark plugs check to make sure theres fuel getting to them & give them a clean. Any other suggestions?

  3. Yeah, also my missus tried to start it yesterday morning and she thought it smelt like fuel.. and assured me she wasn't pushing the accelerator.. I'm just going to give it a good once over. The interior smelt like really average, the layer of dust on the dash/cluster was unreal.. so I don't think it's been overly looked after.

Cheers for help, I now have a starting point

  4. It had been sitting for a couple of months until about 3 days ago. It's a EFI it's the 5-AFE model Toyota Corolla 1988. Are these electronic ignitions? I haven't looked under cap. I haven't owned the car long, so I don't know when/if the last tune was.

  5. Hey guys.. NEED HELP!

In the mornings, i turn the key.. theres battery, thats not the problem but it kind of goes E-E-E-EE--E-EE-EE-E-E- *spluttter* nothing... round two E-EE-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E *splutter* nothing.. and this happends a couple of times.. then after the 16th millionth time. It goes E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E-E *splutter* *splutter* *splutter* *splutter*... and starts, but starts rough as.. as if you're running on 3 cylinders and your timings way off haha. after a little rev, it's fine? If I turn off the car, try and start it again 2 hours later.. it's fine?!

Any suggestions? Blocked fuel line? Block fuel filter?

  6. Update.

So can't really do too much being the fact I have a hernia and am restricted to what movement I can do, also moving house in a month... Great time to get a hernia right :/.

I did however put the front lights, grille etc on. The valance that I have is munted so just waiting to get one of those, also the shovel front bumper mounts made the front bumper stick out, so need to order some of those at some stage as well but in the picture below you do get an idea of what it's going to look like done.

Personally, I think it looks bad ass.. Obviously not as bad ass as a twin headlight front, but this is good enough for me.

I also had some Matte army green paint lying around at basecamp, managed to score a pair of these for a deal with the paint. I am very happy with the swap. They are already on KE70 DX rails, and move back and forth - so as far as I am aware (correct me if I am wrong) I won't need to get them certified :D.

Also a little video for lols, it was parked on the road for the day - bringing it in and got a video. Yes I am aware that the exhaust is horribly loud, and the dumpy needs to go haha but that will happen in good time.

So that's all for now, I think the next plan of attack is to get these rear quarters looking straight, whip off the bumper/tow bar to reveal the state of the rust behind there. I am sure i'll more photos of the cancer.

    Peace out all :)

  7. Haha I know what you mean, i've been doing lots of research on these bad boys. Haven't come across too many 2 doors tho. For now yes, yes it will just be a tidy, lowered, starsharks etc etc..

I don't really have the intention to smack a 3T in there at the moment, I mean like I said - I want to get body/interior looking clean and tidy before I even think about the engine. Lots of different options to look at but my main concern is my lack of knowledge and fabrication skills. I could pay someone to put a worked sr20det, rb25det, Lexus V8.. so on so forth but IMO thats not a project. Won't be many updates for the next few weeks.. I had a sore stomach, went to the doctors - nek minnit.. have a umbilical hernia! Shiiit. So no overdoing it for sometime, so just chip away at the body work slowely but surely.

  8. Hi all,

    Discussion thread: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=32800

Thought I had better get around to doing one of these, not only to give you all a reason to laugh at my "sweet skills" but also to seek advice!

So as the title says, below is my 1982 KE70 Wagon. Is a 2 door model, I haven't seen many of these in the flesh around the place which is what appealed to me.

I do plan for this to be somewhat a long term project, I don't expect everything to be done overnight as I hope to do most things myself and with the help of family/friends.

Right, so plans are as follows:

    Rid of rust

Front end conversion (Get rid of ugly shovel front)

    Panel & paint

Reupholster interior (Swap brown, for black bits)

    Suspension & Breaks

In regardsto the engine, it has a 4k in it with an exhaust system, twin carbs, a few other little things and also a 5 speed g/box. This will do for now, until everything else is done. I think I wil go for worked 5k but thing could change.

    Enough talking, time for photos!

I didn't get many photos of it before I started ripping it to bits but heres one from the rear end

All plated up, rookie welding but does the job!

    33tggv4.jpg

All poo'd up (still obviously not finnished but have slapped some rust reventative over the top to stop moisture being absorbed)

Well thats all the major rust, there is a couple of other little spots here and there.

This is the standard OG shovel front, it's in mint condish which is good for resale but ugly as!

  9. Righteo, jumping the gun a little bit (as i'm not planning on attacking interior until I am happy with the body) but always good to learn/keep an eye out for cheap materials.

The previous owner decided to take off the old door cards, rip off the material then do a bit of 'Churr bro customs' and wrap in some grotty black material. I am wanting to re do the door cards and wondering the best way to go about it. In my head this sounds good but thought i'd run it past you fellas.

Getting some thing foam/sponge, about a cm thick, glueing some decent material to it, getting the mother inlaw to do some sweet sewing onto it (a couple of lines down the middle or something like that to give it a nice clean look) and sticking onto the door cards. wow, sounds better in my head!

Has anyone done something better/easier/less complicated? Or have a write up on how to do it? Just want it looking better then the rangi ass job it's already got!

I did also think - is it going to be better to get some standard cards and give them 20 coats of vynal paint.

    Cheers lads
