Talk to Grant at Grants auto upholstery in Glenfield.
He repairs these all the time for me. You could try to remove and do yourself, but if stitching also worn and comes apart, you'll have a birds nest on your hands.

Talk to Silverdale Radiators...they can rebuild it....like Steve Austin (showing my age...)

One of the worst things you can do is run a car for just 5 minutes then stick it back in the shed for a month. This attracts more moisture into the oil system.
Smooth metal areas exposed can get a layer of rust/corrosion form, which is mixed with the oil on start up, making a nice grinding paste, plus potential pitting.
While the radiator temp gauge my come up, the internal engine temp and oil temp can often take 15 - 20 minutes especially with older less efficient engines.
Then it can take another 20 + minutes to heat off the condensation that's built up in the sump and oil lubrication system.
So if used infrequently, make sure you give it a decent run, 40 + km to burn the condensate off, and have more frequent oil changes.
This info relates to piston aircraft engines, but much of it would apply to car engines with little usage.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a radiator for an rx3? I have an original Showa aluminium from a '73 10A TD that only did 27k miles but it has been left dry for over 25 years and now has pin holes, I am assuming from corrosion. Are the aluminium ones on ebay any good or am I better to stump up the $$ and get it sorted locally, motor is original stock standard 10A, fortunately the original oil cooler has survived and doesn't leak
Cheers
Silverdale Radiators fixed mine up with pin holes.
Can't remember exactly what they did, think pulled it apart, new brass core and soldered inside top and bottom tanks to keep original.

Damn.
I need a better job.
If I know old cars, it doesn't matter if you spend $10k or $100k on buying them, they will always need something done and money spent on them.
Will the bubble burst ?
Or is this car life forever?

The cynic in me thinks that the lack of details is to appeal to the Ozzie buyers who don’t know about this cars history.
Australian compliance is 10 times more 'bend over and get fucked' in Oz compared to here.
Firstly you have to get an import approval for a specific car before you can import it. Then it will be pulled apart for compliance inspection.
You can read all the B.S. here, but it's an easy way to lose your cash, or have the vehicle owe double the amount after complying.

I know someone who took their RX-3 to Sydney when they moved...a couple of years of drama...

Next question is,
does anyone know how to remove the stero from these things? It needs a band expander, and I cant see one single screw anywhere to get things apart?Need some trim tools to remove plastic surround. Screws behind that each side of radio.

The answer is obvious, your speedo is under reading your actual speed. Give the cable a lube, or put smaller tyres on the car.

@AVENGE, I'm assuming from your post this car is a fresh/uncomplied import?
If that is the case, then talk to the compliance centre and the repair certifier they generally use before doing anything.
The repair certifier is the one who approves who can do any welding/structural repairs, so they will usually be able to refer you on to guys qualified to do the job.
Talk with both Fasttrack Compliance in Sockburn, also Magnum Compliance, Vez is the manager there.
You'll need the full document trail for the car, but the compliance guys can advise what's required.

Always wondered about this. So the original rx2s don’t have this part painted body-colour? What colour is it then...black? I see 50% of cars dark colour and 50% body colour. I def think the dark colour looks better... gives the car a more balanced profile... whereas body colour ones look a bit too forward balanced. Body colour also gives a feeling of the car standing a bit taller. Anyway...mine is still painted body colour... so was going to black out one day. What have others done?
Factory was black and still is for most cars today. I've just checked three vehicles outside to confirm!
Only painted body colour cause when they repainted it, they missed that fine detail.
B pillar is also black for the top section.
Should be matt/satin finish.
Note B pillar on mine when repainting.

Kia and Hyundai are the same company, and these models are the respective recreations from a common floorpan.
Even engines are the same in each category.
I've sold a range of Hyundai and Kia vehicles, and customers love them.
Leather can dry out if parked continually hot and dry locations.
And the plastic can be very 'plastiky', but that could be said on a range of product......
There is the new Kia Seltos, with the entry level LX 2.0 starting at $25990.
My contact in Kia said sales of the Seltos have far outweighed expectations to the point that Sportage sales have plummeted, and they have been having to move hundreds onto rental fleets to clear them.
In short, you shouldn't have a problem with any of these. Kia have a 5 year/100k warranty, vs 3 year/100k on Hyundai.

Some barrels have a code on them, otherwise remove the key barrel, and see Rex at Allsafe Security in Porana Rd, Glenfield.
He should be able to pull apart and make up a new one for you.

Here's the list of repair certifiers:
Most of them are making any excuse to NOT take on more work, as 3 have been suspended and prosecuted by NZTA in AKL alone, with their current clampdown on rules interpretation or not following the manufacturers approved repair method.
There is more leeway with pre 1990 cars, however, the repair certifier will advise what's required, and who can do the work.
Welding certificates are those applying mostly to panelbeating, i-Car approved, factory courses for certain models etc, etc.
Any signs of previous repair, the certifier will require sanding/grinding back to bare metal.
So talk to one of the above before doing any work and follow their advice...

Use the calculator at top of this page to work out a similar diameter or circumference roll, to existing size, plus add in rim width, offset etc.
Then match up with some suitable tyres of your choice and budget. Done.

Car seat foam worn mazda 6

Price range what 64Valiant has said.
If its just the degraded foam it's reasonably cheap, but most of my ones are vans, and we have to replace side panels or right top bolster as well.
