  1. I am in Cambridge, Hamilton/Waikato Area

Are you willing to travel to Rotorua?  If so, I can do you a deal on whatever you decide to go with.  I'll match that trademe price for the 185/55R15 ZE912's including fitting and balancing.  Can do cheap 185/55 or 195/50 's from about $95 ea.  205/50R15 is generally a more expensive size.   But you let me know what you want, and I'll see what I can do for you

  2. yep.

    and-

the 'old' falken more-stretch-than-anyone-else spec sheet is still accepted by LVVTA, but as soon as they get notification from the manufacturer (falken) rather than the importer (OTR) that it no longer applies, then they wont accept it. We have been told to tell anyone who wants to do this that their tyre size will become not legal in the future.

Isn't this covered by the new data book that's been issued?

  3. Falken NZ changed the specifications for there own tyres in NZ.  They've issued out a new pattern digest to reflect this and also a statement stating that the letter allowing use of certain sizes on wider wheels no longer applies to NZ.

225/40R14 is not on the LVVTA compatibility chart and spec sheets prioritize over that anyway.

Try printing this off and seeing if they will accept it.  I believe it to be the current T1R brochure, but it is from an Aussie site.  Third one from the top, second page.

Otherwise ring Nationwide Accessories on 07 847 5189 and see if they can email you something to confirm its sizing options.

  4. sorry for late reply, have been uber busy.

these ones ^ look like they would be ok.

the ones mentioned in the newsletter that are no good, are adjustable- basically a threaded bar that you use 2 jam nuts to hold the tie rod end on, so it can be 80mm away from the steering arm, which is a cockup for a number of reasons

Awesome, thanks for the heads up.

  5.

Any pictures of the current steering wheel? What is it out of etc?

I'll take a photo of it some time over the weekend.  It's similar to this though I think; http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads5/MomoCorseWheel1112056263.jpg

Not sure what its from, just a basic aftermarket spec one.  Was bought on a buy sell swap page on Facebook.

Sku at design upholstery on white st, would be able to point you in the right direction

Cheers, I'll give him a ring or pop round and see him on Monday.

  6. fuck yeah !! now these are some sizes i can work with. i had not come across these in my search's . far more realistic . 245/40R15

they even have a importer in h town,

thank you  spiderwebfx , just what i have been looking for. !

    No problem.

Just a heads up, when I priced the 245/40R15, the Hamilton importer come back at around $500 each.  Also, he's indent only, he only imports the motorbike tyres regularly AFAIK.  Would also have to confirm if they are DOT rated and homologated to NZ standards so they're suitable for use on NZ roads.

Genuine question - why do you not just run narrower rims - then you can run the tyres you want to run without stressing over a technicality?

As a tyre fitter I do also wonder this.  i.e A 15x7.5 -10 has the same outside edge as a 15x10 +22.  Obviously the foot print changes, but if you run a decent 205 as opposed to trying to stretch a cheap 225, you've got more grip anyway.

  7. In my opinion they have very differing goals in mind and LVV system is slanted for the ausmerican team more than the euroricer and I would bet the euroricer team feels the system does not cater to their needs.

In 80% of my dealing with certifiers, (with asking questions and whatnot leading up to a cert) this appeared to be the case.

The other 20% is when I've asked Clint about some things through this forum.

  8. Well they could have more flexibilty by something like saying "You are allowed to have ~1 degree past factory alignment specs, or up to a maximum of -3"

It would be a blanket rule that would still cut out the people driving on sidewalls, which I believe was the original intention of this addition.

Never thought of that, I'd prefer this over what I suggested.

  9. Tyre rule is logical.  I explained why in a thread (probably LVVTA questions one) about eight months ago about how tyres move, and they way stretching them effects that.
I believe camber rule needs to be modified slightly.  Not giving free reign, but increasing the limit to 1 degree from factory spec instead of 0.5. (If that's still the rule)

The biggest problem I have is the lack of certifiers with the right credentials within a reasonable area.

I'm in Rotorua, one guy in Papamoa won't touch my car, guy in Tokoroa is gone AFAIK, one in Rotorua is gone, and he wasn't well liked anyway, closest I've got is the two in Hamilton, one had absolutely no interest in my "shitbox Silvia" (quoted), the other wanted an exorbitant price.  I don't know about Taupo way, but beyond that, I got no other options but to travel to Auckland....

RE the comment above about having a representative.  While I also think the way this has happened isn't the best, with having a representative you still run the risk of having biased opinions on certain things that said person won't want to change there perspective.  Same idea as people who like their old hot rods, and have no interest or dislike Japanese cars, regardless of age.  They force their opinion onto the people who have the end say.  (Or at least that's the impression I get when it comes to some of the rules)

Another comment regarding tyres, I don't believe the problem is so much the current rules, but more the lack of options from suppliers.  I'd much rather put a 245/40R15 on a 15x10 than a 205/50R15.

That's my 2c.  Take it with a grain of salt if you don't agree, these are just my own opinions.

  10. GSS?

    aka Greenlane Speed Shop

You're the second person who has recommended them to me.  Still waiting for a reply email, and I didn't have time to call them today.  Unfortunately they don't have an online shop so I can't check availability or stock.

  11. Hey guys, does anyone know where to get a -4AN to 7/16-24 inverted flare adapter?

It seems to be the item I need to put on the top of my turbo for the oil feed line but I can't find any.  Staparts are currently out of stock of the Russell ones, and I don't really know where else to look.
I can't find Aeroflow, Earls or Speedflow fittings in NZ. (I haven't enquired on Fragola yet)

They can also be a brake fitting, but aren't common with a -4AN.

I've trolled through google, but most results are overseas.  (Including after I've changed to NZ)

    Any input is welcomed.
