Popular Post 280zx_nz
Discussion : I got a pair of hardtop coupes off Facebook late last year, Factory *maybe factory* turbo z18et which was white and very rusty under the white paint and another *Red one* which seemed to be in worse condition and I believe it has been passed around a few times in the last few times, I think Cheese aka Mike owned it at one point.? It was still pretty rusty but at least with this, I know what i have to work with and has come along way since. Its around 70% through restoration and have done some modifications already I have converted the front end to S Chassis, S14 crossmember with redrilled holes in the chassis rails with crush tube. S13 LCA's, S13 hub carriers with S13 brakes. S13 adjustable suspension with Camber plates that I had profile cut at Autobend Have also converted the front end to 720 headlights and grill. New mounts etc. Looks tons better Engine .... This was a hard decision. The choice was sr20det, rb25det neo or rb30et and Vq30det. Ended up gonig with a S14 sr20det since it doesn't weigh that much. With what was been removed and engine being lighter, should weigh around or just under a ton. There is more that has been done and plans that I will add over the next few days. More photos too.

280zx_nz
The engine I have arrives this month, cant wait!. Has been rebuilt, new bearings, rings. ARP head studs etc etc Equal length twin scroll turbo manifold with a Holset HY35 turbo, roughly .58 turbine housing. Should get a healthy 350ish from the setup. Going to use Nistune with 600cc injectors. Blitz front mount intercooler and 3 core radiator Only photos I have of it are from my mates S14. Hes going with a VQ30DET now. I was hoping to have this on the road in March but that has been delayed now due to discovering that it has a R160 diff! Part of me wants to see how long it will last and what sort of mess it would make haha. I have a R200 long nose out of a Z31 turbo with LSD cover but alas - someone pilfered the diff head before I got hold of it. On the look out for a 1.5 or 2way in Japan for it.
280zx_nz
Ugh...I've been dreading this for awhile...Attacking the under carrage with a high speed wirebrush/s, rust treat and underseal. While I am at it, will be reconditioning the rear subframe and fitting new bushings and fit the R200 diff.

280zx_nz
After a couple of hours....got a sizable chuck of the undercarriage cleaned up. Still a bit to be done. Getting Adapters made for the rear so I can use Z31 Rear CVs and shaft without being shortened. All I had to do was flip the CV cage and it has given a 10-12mm gap so can use an adapter . Saves trying to find Z31 R30 R31 etc companion flanges and hubs
Popular Post 280zx_nz
Been awhile and have done quite a bit to it. Engine and gearbox are now in it and ended up converting to 5 stud. Z31 rear hubs and companion flanges so no need for adapters anymore....the axles were very thin anyhow and doubt they would have last long. Aftermarket 5 stud hubs on the front to suit the S13 carriers and 4 pot brakes with 300x30mm discs. However......now my sexual SSR Meijus wont fit Got a set of Stern Reverse IIs to use in the mean time.
Popular Post 280zx_nz
All the rust work is finally done! Rolled the guards, managed to pump them out about 45mm. Wheels has been a big issue until now, local company stocks a wheel made in Ireland called Revolution wheels, similar to Superlites and the quality is excellent for the price considering the other crap on the market for more e.g Rotas . Most importantly, they clear the 4 pots without spacers! 15x8 0 offset. Ordered some Toyo T1Rs 225/50r15 for the rear, undecided on the front.... Intercooler plumbing done....exhaust almost done, first start is rapidly approaching
Popular Post 280zx_nz
Shes running....well was. 1 step forward....10 back lol. Factory ECU and loom have been removed and being replaced with a Link G3. Hated the the angle of the intake tubing to the AFM, well its the only reason could come up with after hours of diagnosing why its not running correctly, no fault codes, good AFR etc. So needs a tune and the Link ecu n loom was a good price at the time of looking, saves goig the route initially planned, Nistune board Not far off from being completed! Pretty much just panel and paint then in for cert.
