so i just brought this weapon today. $550 off trademe its had the same owner for 20 years! interior is mint! but shes not exactly nice to look at hence why ive nick named her the boat
but its gonna be a good daily driver and it gives me a spare gearbox and also 10 bolt diff housing for the celeste when i get round to upgrading the rear end. got the standard sohc 4g63 motor
plans are to give it heaps of low and ive got a supercharger set up sitting in my garage for these engines so will be getting that thrown on in the near future
winning! haha

on a bit of a win at the moment, ive always got my eyes open for anything celeste that pops up as its so hard to get hold of parts. i managed to get my hands on this old girl last weekend off a fellow old school member maxpower for a very reasonable price. its a 1979 gsr model which has the sought after 4g52 2 litre engine and 5 speed box. the body has a shit tonne of cancer but theres heaps of saveable and useable parts which im happy with. on another note, the green machine is on a massive hold until roughly next year as priorities have shifted to renovating our first home.

cheers guys

this is the old girl

hello everyone. Wow, havent updated this since 2015. thought i would do an update while im sitting at home doing bugger all due to the covid 19 lock down.

so picking up from where we left off, the green car above was stripped out, sold as much as i could off it and kept what i needed. ended up making a good profit off the car. it was then sold to someone who is using it as a display in a city centre carpark in christchurch.

here she is picked up by the truck, ready to go to the new owner. this was roughly 2017ish. the car sat in a paddock for around 2 years before i onsold it.

mid 2017 i got wind of a celeste that a guy was wrecking for parts. after much negotiation i picked up the remainder of the car for a good price. the body was beyond rooted, but i got guards, interior, front end, doors etc to add to the collection. the shell was quickly cut up with a saber saw and scrapped. i kept as many rust cuts as i could.

Brought another parts car. this one was a japanese import factory gsr, so it had the gt dash, factory wood grain steering wheel and black interior. car was extremely rough. got it for a good price once again, took the parts i needed, to be honest i only brought it for the steering wheel, paddock raced it for a bit then sold it and made a hefty profit. win win. unfortunately i dont have a photo of it in my ownership, but this is the car, been through a few owners now

speaking of interior. managed to come across a factory system 80 pioneer stereo for the car. after a couple hours of butchering a centre console i got it to fit. currently i have been unable to find a centre console with this as the factory option, so luckily i had a shitload of consoles, so it wasnt a problem to chop one up.

guess what...... a brought another parts car! this one is a 1978 xl model so its factory 4g32 5 speed and round headlight. It was on Trademe for a brief period of time, left my number with the seller, he called me when the auction was passed in and we negotiated a great deal. shot down to Alexandra and back in a day to grab it. plan with this is to strip it and make 1 good ORIGINAL car out of the 2 orange parts cars i now have. i am absolutely pumped about the round headlight front and the gen 1 wrap around bumpers which are extremely hard to find. it had a massive shunt in the side and was written off by insurance. the owner was a great guy. had a immaculate hq prem with 33000km on it from new. beautiful car.

last time i touched the old girl was roughly a year ago. My wife and i have 2 kids now and i work stupid hours (forestry fleet mechanic) so she has been sitting dormant in the garage. I pulled the motor out and deloomed most of the engine bay, starting fitting aerofast fittings to everything so i could run braided line. Had a custom catch can and overflow bottle drawn up ready to be made. ditched the factory 1600c radiator and installed a big alloy beast. this is where the project stopped, as i now need new intercooler piping made as i had to shift the intercooler from the engine bay to behind the grille. I sold the d window rims which i was guttered i had to do, but to get them certified i needed massive tyres which would of meant modifying my guards which i am against. so i will be widening the 2 piece alloy wheels that i brought the car on (been sitting in the attic for 10 years haha)

I personally like a staggered fitment on the car so will most likely be a 7" and 8" combo with a gold centre

photos are from today, shes in a sorry state, but it will be our 10 year anniversary this August, so hopefully i can get my ass into gear and have it certified by then. It will need some work done to get cert: another drive shaft hoop, gearbox replaced, upgraded rear brakes, lsd diff (if i can find one) and plumb external waste gate pipe into the main exhaust.

check out my daughter, she loves to sit in it and pretend to drive it haha

peace out

josh
