  1. Just wondering if anyone in the Wgtn area has any BSA Special Tools.

    In particular 61-3005 & 61-3350 used for dis/re-assembling the front-end/forks for a 'B' series.

Also accepting of any alternative tools / methods that won't end in total destruction.

    Thanks for reading.

  2. You could also go on a raid to pick-a-part and get some banjo bolts / fittings with barbs.

Lots of Toyota's have these for the brake booster vacuum lines, but you may need to drill and tap the adaptor to suit.

Also, replacement banjo/barbs for the likes of Tial wastegates, I'm sure some more 'generic' ones exist from Autoquip or GSS?

you can see 2 of them here:

  3. I swear everything I go to the garage I spend most of my time either trying to remember what I was up to, or as you say finding tools.

Re:Porta, the non vvti ports aren't that big it's just they are sliced on the angle making them look larger (oval). If you cut the 25nb on 30deg angle it a pretty close match.

There was a really interesting thread on toy mods many years ago about runner sizes, and recall something like 25nb was good for 400cc, the 1jz is only just over that so thought it was worth a go.

  4. Interested to hear (literally) how you get on.

I went with a HX35 for my (non vvti) 1JZ, but you are much closer to having it running (dam you!).

I also went with 25nb for my manifold, although due to space constraints I used a Tri-Y style with short 25nb primaries into 15º merge collector 32nb secondaries up to the twin scroll flange, with a 44mm EWG (split up to the vavle face). Fingers crossed it works out OK.

Slightly OT, it that your old chaser that is for sale (again) on the tard at the moment.

[ps. Mad props for getting all this done whilst being a new dad, I know what that is like, albeit without getting anywhere near are far as you have]

  5. Might pay to note that the E34 trailing arms didn't work because of your early E28 subframe...

Will dig out a pic for you of how I bypassed the SI Board on my E30, same dysfunctional leaking battery issue, and kept the gauges all running.

(presuming the same era will use the same / similar SI board)

  6. My first bike was an Yamaha IT200, '84 iirc

Use to fang it around the streets with old scooter plates, smokey as hell with 20:1 premix.

Doin' wheelies all over the place, ahhh, such fun.

Mate had an 70's TS250 (just like you pic but yellow, and crashed a few times), cooked a piston and he has a spare from his T500, with a little diy he got it in, but would idle at 5000rpm, didn't stop it getting regular use...

Few years back I had a Suzuki k4 RM250, was scary at hell, would just eat up bumps & jumps, think I was too old and\or soft really.

Contemplating (also known as dreaming) something like a road legal WR or CRF, maybe a DRZ....

  7. Like the look of the zorst, and have build my turbo manifold from a 3D CAD model, was a guide more than anything, but certainly helped.

    Are you doing a 4-1 or a 4-2-1?

Was hoping to see a graph comparing one to the other ;) and whether one complements the VVTI tuning more than the other.

Probably pay to focus attention on the collector(s), Burns do some real nice stuff (collectors / megaphones) you could use (or try to replicate).

  8. At this rate he'll need to start using logarithmic scales to contain his graphs of graphs [... of graphs]  ;)

But rather interesting the fuel is getting so hot...

Is this a reason the Altezza's use a return-less system?

(or regulated / returned at the pump, not the engine).

  9. Catch tank looks good!

Did you use -10 or -12 and connect to the stock valve cover vents?

    Is a real tidy setup!

ps.  Where are you taking the IACV inlet too? Around to the inlet pre-turbo?

I was contemplating just putting a little K&N filter onto the IACV.
