Used comdom
scored a Subie GT wagon as part of a trade other day, filthy & heaps of condoms, normally I like going through new cars but yeah nah
when I worked on a job taking down old power-poles we came across an abandoned HQ on the side of a road. Someone mustve dropped a seed on the carpet coz there was a pretty decent plant growing outta the drivers footwell
-
yeah? plastic beads + hot engine sounds like fun.....or are they meant to somehow stay in your fuel system to decarbonize through the fuel?
-
in much agreeance of all of the above, been no official meat for a couple months
-
Sounds like a plan.
Mines running bit better now, just waiting for a good (bad) excuse to take it out. Disturbing the peace is a good enough excuse.
Was hoping to take it on the Toy Run next weekend but will be a miracle if that happens, roll the Avenger instead.
Definitely catch up sometime

So.....3yrs later.. she must be a show winner by now hehe,
mind you, the way Im procasterbating you might have yours on the road before me
you learnt how to take fotos yet?
-
Was always told you cant run 8" wheels and wide tyres on the front of your HQ but I had a full set of 15x8 modgie-type chromes on my 1 tonner with 245s all round, no clearance issues but no powersteer meant you got a good arm workout.

I got my VG from Lower Hutt back in March-April this year, didnt look like that one above though. Its original colour scheme is light metallic green with white roof but I would prefer a darker green like yours, with metallic.
When I was living up north one of my mates had a Escort Sport, we all used to try and rally drive round the gravel roads in our cars (thats when I learnt that my falcon was no match for the Esky on gravel haha)
-
Thats a fine piece of Mopar mate, will be wicked to see all our Vals cruising together.
-
Couldnt resist buying this as it had a wof and no real issues so could be dailyed straight away after slap some rego on.
Shes real straight though paint is worn, got a 1600 4spd, all running sweet as, filthy old 14" cheviot turbos for OSness and came with heaps of spares, typical
oh yeah had a look underneath and found nolathane? bushes
No plans for now other than Clean, Rego, Drive

Bugger, I not long bought all new carpets from Autodec or I wouldve been keen.
I assumed that the seats were original because they fit well and didnt look out of place but after having a look around Im sure they are out of a VC. They are in good cond and I like the style more than the original so gonna stick with them.
Really makes a difference having 8" wheels (but as you all know the guards limit how wide you can go) , didnt realize they were rarer in the old pattern though. Spewing I sold off my steelies now coz I couldve widened them and chucked my hubcaps on, plus now I got no spare wheel.

Bought an Avenger the other day, found the usual McD chips, bulk pens, coins etc and on the the dash was a big rubber ducky
-
It didnt have the bezels fitted when I got it but they were in with the rest of the spares along with another set.
Headlights seemed to be ok when I drove it back from Picton but will definitely take your advice regarding relay, earth etc
No worrys Mk1, Im still finding out whos who on here myself, was looking forward to Novembers meet to finally catch up with the reps and some of the crowd but must of missed it somehow.
Ingear been going for a while in ChCh now, sells a heap of other car related stuff and various restoration bits for mopars. Doesnt do window rubbers yet tho
-
Had some black paint left over from the Sigma and wasnt a fan of green and different shades of primer so gave it a temporary coat of black til I decide on a final colour, was thinking even go back to original paint scheme but yeh bogan black for now.

Thats one tidy as old wagon, same year as my sedan but yours is the previous model, see heaps of the later wagons around but not so much earlyr ones.
-
my EX had similar probs. same as VIVASPEED said it was shitty motor-body earth lead but sounds like youve sorted it out
-
Real nice esky Shane, I also like the green paint, was thinking of using the same kind of green on one of my cars.
Off topic for a sec but your avatar pic is taken at top of Omapere hill with Opononi Harbour/sand dunes in background. I grew up there.

First thing on the list was replace the old light switch- $80 later I had a new one from Ingear on Ferry Rd who sell Valiant restoration bits.
and washer reservoir pump wasnt going so I rigged up an aftermarket washer for now until I get another original type pump, would prefer the original look.

Mrs car just failed on headlights needing alignment/focusing. Exactly the same thing it failed on 6months ago and was fixed. Hasnt been touched and now its "way out"
Common little money-maker, our local wof-shop pings nearly every car for headlight alignment.
-
You will have a 6 month wof but he probably punched out the wrong hole. WOF computer wont let you give 12 month wofs on older cars. Might be worth checking on car jam when it actually expires.
He even wrote the expiry date as Oct '13, Im not registered on CarJam so cant see the expiry date on there
funny that they still list my ute as having a 2L motor, thought that was updated when it gets certed, but I dont know shit
Surprised the wof shop didnt notice one of my engine Xmember nuts was missing when I put Sigma through, surely thats a fail
-
not a wof but ex brother in law got new tire at Tonys tire service. Got 100m and felt a wobble. Was on the last wheel nut. Walked back
Had something similar when local garage did work on our old Tredia, driving away from garage and get about 500m when I hear a funny noise. Turn the car around and start driving back to the garage, noise gets worse and 50m from workshop my left front wheel flies off and takes off down the road.
Also, I know you can get 12month wof on newer vehicles but my '87 L200 got a wof recently and when I went to check the expiry date it doesnt expire til Oct next year? Not complaining but WTF
-
Might have to lose an inch outta the blocks.
-
funny you ask, no probs on the left side but a little rub on the right. Hence cant go any wider with rear tyres but the current ones look the part for now.
-
Was asked if I had a thread for the Val and had been meaning to start one, so here goes
Never owned a Chrysler before though was surrounded by them growing up, eldest bro owned heaps of them
Its a stock 245 with flows and big ass pipe right through, bit on the rare side being a manual Valiant also. Wound down torsions and 2" blocks with good old tridents, 7" & 8"
Bought it from Lower Hutt, guy had parked it up all roadworthy back in '09 when he went to work in Oz. He was forced to return and sell it because the person storing it needed the space back and the VG was now sitting under a cover outside. He chucked in so much spares that there was only just enough room for me lol
When I bought it the light switch wasnt working(typical) so I had to run a wire off the battery for the drive back to ChCh, looked funny at the ferry, me rushing to connect/disconnect my lights. Aside from the light switch everything else worked mint and the running gear was good though I could hear the odd tappet chatter when at idle, she might only be a 245 but damn its good.
These are the only early pics of it ATM coz the rest are on busted PC, original colour was light green metallic with white roof apparently, then someone painted over that with snifter green.

Was a real nice day for show/shine/cruise.
Not a huge turn out but heaps of cool cars to be seen.
