Well pictureless update cause ive been working 5.30am-10.30pm past few day...got some of the next three days off

Battery finally decided to hold some charge so will see if i can go for a pootle down to the workshop where ill pretty much rip bits off and slap new bits on

Some news on it.... Apparently impossible for people to find me parts even door window seals which would be handy as my door is half full of water....

Also broke the drivers door lock somewhat so hopefully i can get back in

It for now will hopefully get some dirty, greasy and shiney pictures of her. As I found out you find the gender of your car when you get angry at it and call it names

Well here are the points of interest,

First off rust areas that i would have been pleased with not existing

Bit that i forgot to take a picture of is the firewall seal its a bit iffy and bits seem to have rusted off

A pillar

And since its been more hectic than putting deepheat on a ballbag my carpet has been soaked

So i ripped up tne majority of it all including all the deadening which was pretty bad and found only one small hole in the drivers floor

Next water was going in through the bootlock hole and wet everything in there but there wasnt any water in there..

Untill i found this sitting under the spare wheel

Not sure if you can spy the holes in the boot floor near the plugs in this... But they are there sadly, also could do with a spruce

Roofs a we bit stained and torn, pretty much halfjob patch it for now and do a better job than the previous attempt

Then just splurge for a new one or try my hand making one

First time starting it ran fine even with stale fuel bit of an exhaust gasket leak but it came with a full gasket set, but fiddled around see if anything was corroded around piping and snap... Waterpump decided it wouldnt have a bit of it. Picking up a replacement today.

Also kept finding these mainly crushed under the battery, photo just cause

Things that ill have to fix for it to be road legal that i have found.

Couple new tyres

Reattach rearview mirror

Suss all the faulty connections on lights

Rust spots, probably see how i got with a bit of fibreglass filler and grinding

Brakes need a bit of a look see

Find a thermostat for it since it apparently needs one...

No tears in any of the seats, fixed by throwing a towel over it.... Win

Exhaust gasket

Bout all i can think of at the moment. Also trying to find the bit of paper i wrote it down on i somehow made the drivers door lock somewhat...stop working.

List of some things to do as secondary fixes

Repaint & deaden the interior of the car

Weather strips for the windows so water doesnt just sit in my door

Perhaps a couple new seatbelts

Paint some areas make it more two tone than like six... And rust counts as a colour right?

Tidy up some wiring

Replace oil and filter since its blaaaaccckkk

Flush and acid was the radiator

Suss the dizzy out gaps etc same with leads and plugs

Get the battery charged or replace and move to the boot

Pretty much just fix missing bits and tidy stuff up for now

After all that jazz throw some new carpet in, roof lining, door panels etc

Make it looks a bit respectable as every holden lover around here tells me

Its not enough i get it for being a kiwi but for owning a ford...

Ill do some work on it once the weather fines up and im not working 6am-9.30pm....

Hopefully next post has a lot more work done and actually something productive rather than cleaning grime and peeling stickers off

Was going to get some little ones for the front but i keep seeing them on every car and they just look.... Horendous, same with bullbars on like tiny little cars. Also i can drive.... Just have to fully restart my entire licence etc here which seems to take longer than nz... Can have the v8 badges or if anyone wants them as they will most likely just be torn off otherwise this gu down at the workshop might take them for his v6 to v8 old falcooooon conversion.

yeah what i assumed due to the shape etc but they were confused. Even more confusing when the parts shop says that there were no mk2 things in the book till 1977.

Will have to decide on which way it goes either the more rallyish style or local drive which well... Seems to be dirt roads with kangaroo corpses sprawled along it. Dusty skids?

So finally have power and phone coverage back after the weekend and some of the week trying not to be hit by flying trees and whatnot due to the cyclones.

So here is a chunk of an update or really what ive done that I could since its been pissing down and blowing a gale.

And yes that is the seatbelt tied to the door so it kept shut and didnt let all the delicious filth inside blow out

After a bit of a clean, ended up cutting off all the seatcovers even tho ill need new ones due to the licencing over here... No rips or tears in seats

Insides in average condition, need new recovered front seats preferrably black... Dash is rather sun damaged

Roof has some large tears and some muppstain averagely tried to patch them, carpets in decent nick but will renew

And the back seat is rather mint apart from a slight seam tear and burn spot

Gave it a quick spruce and wipe inside, decent no rust but spied some leak in the rear window at the top only small

Then the amazing mechanically knowledged fix by my uncle to temporarily bend out the door with a random piece of wood and back of a log splitter came to this! Also closes now and doesnt let any water in even tho it has no window seals on the door

Thats all for now will update a bit later on tonight with the list of fixes and rust spots! And an ass shot or two, dont get excited it isnt mine

So really only got the door working to some degree, pulled at bits and broke a hunk off the water pump so that needs replacing and wrote a list of crap to do... Also scrapped of large amounts of superglue to where the rearview mirror had been and surf stickers placed on the back to be replaced with an oldschool one just to piss some aussies off

Nearly forgot... People are confused to me saying its a mk2, anyone correct me? Body shape seems similar like a ghia or mk 2 they refer to it as a bc but people are unsure what it is especially when i ask about parts... Any helps would be o for awesome

Ok so I have sometime to try get these images thrown onto here and post an update worth talking about.

So here first of all are the pics of it when i first saw it then later trailered so it can start its journey to being taken apart slowly and painfully.

Pretty much the major damage that i saw, someone over extended the crap out of the door...

Later gets fixed forgot if i have any pictures or not... But skillfully bashing it with a piece of wood and the back of a log splitter

It moved into place so the door could actually close. Also saved the glass aswell!

Inside was somewhat grot before i fully took the cover off and shooed most of the residents living inside

From what i heard it was explained to me as a 2.0L pinto but soon as i opened it and spied no cam on top.

Thought about it for a week and at 800 bucks i thought it was a steal.

That reminds me i still actually need to pay the guy. No ownership papers cause this baby isnt licenced!

So I have moved over to Western Australia and became dulled with not finishing my halfballed attempt at the mini. So I found I have an uncle and aunty here and he owns and runs the local workshop. Also found out about a sweet little gem sitting in a paddock so I thought id have a squizz.

Waited for a day where it was pissing down with rain so I didnt have to work.

Here is what i came up with.

Also dont mind the poo images or if it doesnt work... Using a galaxy tablet and new s3... Got to love the wages over here!

Week after I saw it and the... Damage yet to be seen and fixed with an unlikely tool... Aka the back of a log splitter.

I bought it, trailered it to where I am at the moment gave it a clean and had a fiddle. Got to love fiddling with new bits or fiddling in general.

Cleaned the large amount of cockroaches, snails and spiders out of it and fixed some of the problems and also spying some more... But as I said stick with it ill have some mlre pics thrown up, some details and also the list of faults ive found already....

Yeah... Crazy... Oh well had a quick squizz turns out the parts car had the 2.0L pinto has a 1.6L from what i told but it was pitch black and a huge overhanging tree... Just wondering if anyone knows of sites that can supply parts or happen to know of any places in western australia :-$ Ive asked but i get the same response here... Why dont you get a holden.. Unamused.

Hey, moved to aussie sussed a 1978-1980 ford escort mk2 its apparently a two litre due to the overhead cam but was wondering if you know the engine number difference to the 2.0L pinto and the 2.0L kent engine something like VJ in the front or something?

Hopefully make a new project page by the end of the week once I get it for a mint price.

Also mint build and yes the vinyl roofs do give a hectic odour!

Well I've decided to move to Aussie and I have no where for the mini.... still some work on it comes with all the parts actually runs now just needs a tune me thinks.

thinking of throwing it up on trade me for some cash moneys to pay for rent while i'm over there scumming around for a job.

once the car goes i'm bound to get told to clean some of the oil off the driveway now :s fun times to be had

Well I got a few things for it like a smaller air filter - the air filter itself...doesn't fit the carb either so....i'll just homejob up a pipe... was going good nearly got the horn going until it somehow made things worse and I had to rebuild the whole steering column wires

and just a minor setback....of the throttle cable somewhat breaking now not fitting...time for a new one me thinks

Tried tuning it both methods its either I just plain suck or my mate does thought I had it going untill i started it up before and a few flames etc were trying to melt my face off

Planning on moving to aussie in January so its either I rush to finish it over christmas and get it road legal...maybe sell it...rather not or hide it away in a shipping container of potatos to Australia and take it for a burn there

Will get more pics of it after I actually finish sanding the hideous parts of bog smeared across its once good looknig body

Yeah just have to find somewhere to source a grill for it then its pretty much close to done...found out the throttle likes to stick at full so yay need to tune the carb up anyway..might just be the spring

Yeah I'm loving the mini builds on here gives me a bit of an idea on how to do it up...been thinking lately might try make it a bit of a munter and mix match some parts meaning some MK1 stuff on a MK3 and maybe if i find myself a bit wealthy to redo the front to look like an innocenti mini...which could be interesting and maybe a few radical colour schemes coming up so who knows will keep you guys posted on my shenanigans

3 days off work hopefully its finally sunny so i can get down to sanding fill her up with gas and drive her up to my brothers place to get her gaping holes welded shut

Has some loop carpet in there at the moment in semi rough condition was going to keep at least some of the old style theme...perhaps too picky if there is enough of that roll (bound to be only a mini pretty tiny little area) I could cut my own shapes etc make crazy patterns and what not...get a bit more automotive restoration experience in making my own carpets

Haven't found out where I could get some carpet from yet, only been looking online at some british stores that have the already cut sets of carpet they say like the original...so I assume they would be loop carpet not this straight hair fluffy stuff

How much of it would you be willing to spare with it if I do find the measurements ?
