nice! ^ that engine will go well! It looks straight with little/no rust?
How come you are stripping it
i stripped it down just to have a good look at what it needed.turns out it was really clean with no rust in pillars or doors. also i
pulled the motor and box and sprayed the engine bay and door jams to make a good job of it really happy with the engine
and box combo because you can cruise at 50kph in 4th up hills but id put that down to the diff ratio i think

Specs: 1600 crossflow slight lumpy cam matched to 5 speed celica box,Think it has a escort sport diff
but not sure.. std brakes, wheels, interior . someone on oldschool could have some info on the car .I got it off a guy in rotorua but it was the guy that had it before him that has done the conversion and got the cert

There was going to be a theme to this project which went along the line of "its not what you know but WHO you know" as
this was my first car AND project
First of all the car went to my dads mate Mark Norris whos a engineer/hot rod builder for some rust repairs as
i wasnt going start mucking round trying to weld pannel steel. The whole car was actually really good for rust apart
from under the 'bulbus bit' in the engine bay where leaves had collected and rotted a couple small holes which where
leaking into the floor pan.so the spots got drilled and it got peeled back (hehe imature i know) and welded up.
next I sent it to the pannel beaters beacuse the previous owner had bumped the right front guard and it was a mess.
So got it back from pannel beaters and started looking for the little shopping trolley dings that most cars of this age have.
Filled those.I Did pannel beating of my own at the front under the bumper and got that looking pretty good. Went and pciked
a colour and broght some paint. got this paint job for 24 heinekin yeeeow!!

Hi all. this will be one of my first posts and my first project car so bear with me.
I decided to start of nice and simple with a car everyone is familiar with.
I picked this 1977 ford escort off trademe as a likely candidate to tinker with.
had a look and then won the auction.sweet! my first car.
went and picked it up with the help of my old man dave and drove it home.it went ok on the way home
so i drove it around for a couple of weeks.Parked it up and started dismantiling.
(couple of pics hopefully) -
I've seen an old lady driving a s3 rx7 in tauranga. Its standard as

thanks for the help guys. the car still has its orginal paint but after 34 years its really faded. open the boot and you get a good picture of what it would have looked like new. I really like the colour so rather that butcher it with a metallic i thought i would keep her original

Im in the process of respraying my eski in its orginal colour. So i went on google but a quick search turned up nothing on ford paint codes. can anyone direct to me a relevant website? Or if your an expert the code is 7 L2 DA2 .cheers
