Next meet is on in a week!Sunday 15th January.MEET: 9:30am at the Dunedin Ice Stadium carpark (big one) on Victoria Road, St Kilda.CRUISE: Leaves 10am sharp, please arrive with enough petrol/diesel/electricity/biofuel/jet fuel for the cruise.Anywho, same as last time - we meet at the ice stadium, head up to North Dunedin, but up Bethunes Gully (Norwood St), along Mt Cargill Road all the way to Waitati. On SH1 for a very short time, until the bottom of the Kilmog, where we turn right onto Coast Road, to eventually head through Karitane etc. Then back onto SH1 for a while, with a possible quick detour at Waikouaiti on the old SH1 (depends on interest levels). Then back on it till Palmerston, then we take Horse Range Road through Trotters Gorge which may not be nice to drive on at the mo (roadworks?) but it's less boring than the motorway. Which arrives back to SH1 near Moeraki.Cruise for a wee while longer on SH1 to Waianakarua Road, by the mill house/old Scout camp just before Herbert (Sherbert). Hopefully don't hold up SH1 traffic too much as we wait to turn into that road (no turning lane). Then its through to Kakanui, where we take Magdala St into the town, then Harbour Tc around the outside edge between the town and the ocean, then back onto the road and finish up at Oamaru Harbour. Then we may find a food source for lunch, and who knows what we'll do after that (up to whoever turns up).Meet is on rain or shine.

Hey all. This year i'm aiming to try have at least one cruise meet every single month instead of wimping out in Winter, so will announce the next meet details below this blabbering each time it comes around.Any type of car at all welcome to attend (or motorbike, van/truck etc), and the only rules are to please hold off on the skids, speeding etc while you're with us. A group of cars is going to attract attention and we don't want that to be negative attention, nor do we want the Police to stop us. Been organising meets for ten or more years now with no trouble from the Police, so want to keep it that way!The next meet is;Sunday 25th January.MEET: 11:30am at the Dunedin Ice Stadium carpark (big one) on Victoria Road, St Kilda.CRUISE: Leaves 12pm sharp, and we make our way to North Dunedin, then we'll head along Mt Cargill Road, then along Blueskin Road (?) past the Ecosanctuary, then down into Purakaunui Road, then into the tiny 'town' where we may stop for a photo at one or two locations depending on the number of the cars in the cruise and how many cars are already in those spots (they aren't big), then back up the hill, and down the other side to Long Beach where we'll finish up at one of four domains (that you can drive on). On this Sunday! The military guys are putting on a big display apparently and will be offering rides in a tracked vehicle too i think. And we have a couple of raffles on the day, one of them is good if you like being a passenger in fast cars (and by fast i mean nothing less than 500hp), but can only choose one to ride in.Turn up in/on whatever, just be there (please!).Don't have to cruise if you don't want, there will still be people there while we're out waking up the neighbourhoods.

...you'll be attending the 2014 Otago Community Hospice Charity Cruise in Dunedin, right?(top pic in flyer below is from our 2011 or 2012 event)
(scanned flyer, hence the bad quality)
We're now in our fifth year, and are hoping that this is the year when it doesn't rain!Last year we allowed motorbikes for the first time, and it was also our best year yet. 180+ cars, 8 motorbikes, $3,655.70 raised for the hospice.Other than turning up on the day, we also would love for people to help spread the word - even to people you see at the petrol station/supermarket/golf course in their Jag, Porsche, GT-R, F350, Harley, Aprillia etc.Theres still been a few marques we haven't seen yet either, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Lancia, Lexus?, Maserati, Rolls Royce, TVR. Had a number of Ferrari's and Porsches turn up over the years, but it's always awesome to get any type of car along!See you there...
-
It was a great show, first time i've been there in years (was in the area, as was on a motorbike rally that weekend). I took a number of pics too but at 7-10mb for each photo, i probably won't put them online :s
-
Did it sound alright, if you know? That Corolla sedan racing at Highlands seemed to be revving its guts out and more. Felt almost sorry for it. :s
-
On this Sunday! Be there!
-
I liked the turbo sound it had, but woulda sounded better with a fully worked NA engine maybe.
I took heaps of pics and vids too, but was a lazy ass and took most pics of the racing through the fence. Which i'm kinda pissed about now, as they seem to be some of the best shots i've taken. :/ Oh well.
-
I'm all for sticking it to big organisations/companies etc, so best of luck with that top secret plan. Maybe it'll get them off their high horse a little.
-
Thats a load of shit if thats true. Goes to show that they aren't open to everything.
-
That house seems alright, but i'd try find a way to get the garage /drive past the house. Seems to be a reasonable size backyard with nothing in it. The street seems quite nice though.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH, 2013- TAHUNA PARK, VICTORIA ROAD, DUNEDIN- 9AM-5PM- RAIN OR SHINEABOUT/PAST EVENTSI came up with the idea for this after my mother passed away from cancer while in the Hospice in 2008. The aim of the event is primarily to raise as much money for the Otago Community Hospice as possible, to say thanks. http://www.otagohospice.co.nz- In 2010's event, we raised $2,235.50 for the hospice, with just 155 cars on a rainy day, and with the event ending three hours early!- In 2011's event, we raised $1,401.90 for the hospice, with only 75 cars on an even rainier day than 2010!- In 2012's event, we raised $2,730.00 for the hospice, with 137+ cars on yet another wet day! It's great to see expensive/really tidy cars turning up and cruising even when it's raining, like Ferrari's, Porsches, late model Mustangs and so on.HOW WE RAISE THE MONEYBy charging each driver and each passenger a minimum 'compulsory' donation of $5 (higher amounts are encouraged if you can afford it) to enter the cruise. And gold coin entry fee ('donation') for members of the public at the opening of the car show at 1pm.BASIC ITINERARY AND NEED TO KNOW DETAILS- Pay money to officials (passengers need to pay $5 or more too)- Sign a disclaimer form, so we aren't liable for anything you do- Get a small sticker put on your car to show you've paid (any cars that arrive back from the cruise without a sticker will have to pay)- Line up and park where directed- Do above cruise route. Drive safely, its not a race!- Arrive back before 1pm for food/car show etc.- Five trophies will be available to hand out for cars on display after the cruise, best Japanese, American, European, Australian and British cars.ELIGIBLE CARSAll exotic cars (Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Lotus, TVR, Mercedes and so on). All muscle cars (FPV/Tickford and HSV/HDT etc cars, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang etc). Classic cars (Shelby, Jaguar, Mini, Rover, Triumph and so on). Hot rods. Sports trucks/SUVs (Dodge Ram, Ford Territory Turbo, Ford F250 etc). Japanese sports cars (Skyline, Supra, RX-7, WRX, EVO, NSX, S2000, GTO, 300zx/350z/370Z and so on). Japanese 'old school' classics (Pre R30 Skylines, Prince models, DX Corolla, AE86, RX3 and so on). Vintage cars (Model T Ford, Daimler and so on). Race cars/track cars (if not road legal then tow them on the cruise on the trailer!).If your car doesn't fall into any of those categories, does it have any aftermarket modifications (bigger wheels, bodykit, fancy paintwork, rare factory bodykit and so on)? If thats a yes, you can bring it along too - even if it is a 4WD/people carrier (so long as they aren't standard looking!).This is also the perfect opportunity to get those prized treasures out of the garage, the ones that very seldom get seen by the public eye. You'll possibly have a slightly bigger chance to win a trophy and prize pack for doing so!ENTER YOUR CAR CLUBThis event is a great chance for recruiting new members! We'll even allow you to set up wee stalls etc around the edge of the grounds so you can have somewhere for people to learn more about your club and join up!CRUISE ROUTE1. It will be open year round and after the event each year all funds will be removed and given to the hospice along with the proceeds of that years event.ACCOUNT NUMBER: 03-1725-0422192-000NAME OF ACCOUNT: Otago Hospice Charity CruiseMORE INFO

Some places in Corstorphine/Calton Hill/St Clair/Kew seem to get good sun, but mainly on the top of the hill. Funnily enough.
Sections seem to be a bit bigger in those areas too, but there are a number which don't have off street parking due to the slope they are placed on. Sometimes see gang members in certain streets/houses but they are kinda scattered all over the place.
-
Bit late, but anyone driving absolutely anything (i like variety) is welcome to come along to the Southern Skylines meet tomorrow (Sunday). 1pm at the big ice stadium carpark, and we're also cruising out along the peninsula.

Pretty much describes it in the link below, but basically i'm sick and tired of so many varying statistics and 'facts' about the brand of cars i'm obsessed with (see: username) on sites all over the internet, so started my own version on our re-vamped website and its going to be a long, long work in progress. Mainly because there is a lot of crap to sort through (Wikipedia for one) to find the facts!
If you want something done properly, do it yourself.
Michael's Retro-Classics site has had some of the best info so far but only goes up to the C210 at the moment, information about the earlier models is kinda rare so it has been a great help.
Still need a lot of small details for the pre R32 models since this website (one of my best sources for later models) only seems to be based from R32s onwards, but hopefully one day the info will find its way into my hands.
Anyways, if anyone here can contribute anything at all to the site, even the most obscure thing, it would be much appreciated. And i might even accept some re-written descriptions on certain models, since i didn't really write any of it myself. The C10 page in particular is a bit of a mess at the mo (Michaels blurb and the Wikipedia one too), but i put it online anyway.
There's about 100 or so pages on the site at the moment, but not even half of them are online yet because they are yet to be formatted and turned into some sort of common sense layout.
Without further ado...
www.southernskylines.com/encyclopedia
Hopefully in the next month or two i'll have a page up for every single section on the index page (that link), then can go to work on specific models. The only section that is almost half finished is the R32.

PHOTOSHOOT PARKUP (no cruise pics because we got too broken up by traffic lights etc )
LEAVING FOR GO-KARTS
AT GO-KARTS
Me chasing Tyler from ToySpeed. Unfortunately he's been to the track once or twice before...
LUNCH AT KFC
/end.
Until next time (when more Dunedinites wil hopefully make it)...
A member also suggested a Queenstown meet again one day too (since he couldn't make the Invers one in his 350GT). First time we held it (2003/2004?) we got seven or so cars, the second time we got one car (me). So if we can do about as good as the first time i'll be happy.
2015 Charity Cruise, Sun Nov 29th
in South Island Region
Posted
Not long to go now.
Don't be put off by the club running it or whatever (i've noticed the lack of response to invites i send to our meets ), the hospice gets every single cent raised, and sponsors pay for every single expenditure we have. I started the event, but it isn't a Southern Skylines fest, there were more Supras than Skylines last year and about twenty million more V8's.
Need to get a bigger presence of cool Japanese vehicles, and you peeps have some of the coolest ones in town. Would probably get moseyed at more than the newer models at least.
