Havent been to one of these in ages - might try to roll on up with my new (old) ride. Problem is I only finish work at 7pm
-
I seem to have missed a fair few of these now- will definitely aim to be present on the 17th
-
Will be there but I dont officially "clock off" till 7pm so might miss the tunnel good-times. But then again I do work right around the corner.
-
There's also Srathmore Tunnel just down the road for the acoustic pleasures
This place definitely has more variety + pool table once you're there, as opposed to wholly pizzas

On the way back I was tailed by a mufti cop car for about 10min from New World in the city all the way to Aro Valley before he pulled me over for a "random" breath test. What can I say, cops dig the Datsun

I learnt to drive on a 1993 Bluebird SSS in Auto which was my mum's car - Iloved it at first but my appreciation for it steadily declined with frequent miscellaneous visits to the mechanic and acquired dents.
First car I owned was 1998 Mitsi Galant 2L Manual with low k's which I absolutely loved untill money got tight and I sold it
BUT I've been rocking the Datsun since (after a failed attempt at owning a Mini) which also gives me lots of love

no mods at this point, its been lowered by previous owner but apart from that pretty standard. Works as a daily runner but I plan to invest some time and money into restoring it next year, soon as I get out of uni (and maybe even get a job )
I heard about Old School first from an escort-owning flatmate and also from the NZ Datsun forum
Before this I briefly owned a '78 Mini in Tui-Orange, after being towed to the garage twice in the first week and discovering it had scoured cylinders it was back up on trademe and quickly became someone else's problem. Maybe Ill try one again at some stage
Mk1 Escort Cold/Wet Ignition Problems
in General Car Chat

So I've had my '74 1.3L Escort (stock standard) for over a year now, and lately it's started acting up in the mornings when wet or cold, and latest even just windy.
When trying to start the engine turns over fine but it will not spark. The coil and battery are fine, and sparkplugs are only a month old, which lead me to think it may be moisture in the distributor cap?
This seems to happen only when its been sitting unused over-night, and once started the problem doesn't present itself until the next cold morning (ie. I can drive to the supermarket, park up, do the groceries and it starts fine then). When it is not cold/wet/windy it usually just needs the choke out to start.
Crash starting works fine however, but this is not really an ideal solution as I can't always rely on having a hill around.
Any thoughts/suggestions?
