everything i can lol, probably more "race" days than drifting but as much as possible, potentially get it back on the road someday too
-
haha yeah, i saw it in about Feb-ish, and was still around in July when I was back so went and has a look. I got my Annual Tax refund at the end of July and it was still available, and here we are, I brought is without driving it lol Buying a race car probably isnt the smartest thing to do when living 5000kms away, but meh, shits cool.

I managed to have a guick look over the car one evening a month or so ago while i was back in CHCH for a mates wedding, its probably the best AE body wise iv ever come across, the only rust was on the bottom of the front guards which is pretty minor which is a HUGE bonus.
The plan is, at this stage anyway, More or less do a switch-r-roo with my ae70 suspension and front subframe wise, and hopefully add in a new adjustable front swaybar and new castor arms while everything is out. Ill Keep it 4age, T50 and Series for a while, but ill have my hilux diff from the 70 there for a rainy day.
once i swap everything over ill try sell the AE70 rolling with the 85 suspension (koni / TRD) S and S series for cheap ( im thinking 1-2k ish), so it anyone knows anyone let me know!!!!!!!
I would really like to do a J160 (altezza)6 speed box swap behind the 4age (to ensure the T50 doesnt fuck out) then eventualy 3S Beams it but that wont be for a while, i just wanna drive it!!!!!!!
Chur again!!

Hey all I'v just brought a new AE and thought I'd share it, but first a bit of history.
Some of you may remember my AE70 i ripped apart and painted just prior to moving to Aus in 2012, and have barely touched it since bar buying a few bits and bobs like wilwood brakes, wanky coilovers etc etc
Seeing as I just dont get back enough to "build" the car again I decided to buy something that was mostly there and just macguver it together using the flash bits off "steve" the AE70 so i can use it when I pop back over the ditch.
here is Steve
Ant the New AE85, brought off a mate of a mate vit TM for what I think is a fucking steal to be honest. shes running a silvertop 20v, T50, S series diff, brand new toyo R888s, Lexan windoes all round, real nice cage and various "race car" other bits and tits. As well as a decent ammount fo spares too!!!!!!
I think it didnt sell on TM for aaaaages cuz its just ugly as it sits, but i have a couple of ideas up my sleeve so easily rectify this.
Anyway.....Pics!!!!!!!
the end goal is something along these lines aesthetics wise anyway

Am I the only one who doesn't like that kit? Ok, good, just checking
nope i'm in the same boat, rocketbunny/TRA/6666/LB Perfotmance is just the flavour of the moment, much like RWB was last year and URAS was before that, hopefully it passes soon. Copy : paste bodykit FTL.

Why do people do that shit to the interiors?? looks soo fucking cheap and tacky, id rather have a tatty factory interior than a glossy marine vinal mash up.

they all may have used them in their mundane ute / family car engines, but I don't recall seeing balance shafts on any of the makers listed above "performance" 4 cyl engines 3sgte, SR20, B18C, B16A etc etc.
-
all these 4G63 is better than X make me lol.
saying an engine that requires a balance shaft so it doesnt shake itself to bits is better than anything is lol worthy.

LS# are massive, surely there is no way they would fit without MASSIVE surgery, then there is the TR6060 / T56 which is pretty much the biggest gearbox in the history of the world, easily another 60-80kg at least, and thats not bringing in the fact they make like 60hp a litre......
Its gotta be a SR20 or.......something from here http://www.mrpltd.co.nz/browse/118_247/complete-engines.html
-
ill probably sound like a prick, i really dont mean to, but.......have you been in a 400hp car? let alone a 400hp anglia that weighs nothing??
I learnt when setting up my ae70 that having a number goal realy means fuck all. I was dead set on at least 250 whp, ended up being 230 and was WAY faster than i anticipated.
,
Had been in all sorts of SR20 this and that LS1 swapped skylines etc alll of which weighed significantly more then my ae70, "adding lightness" is the way imo.
Edit: beams will need all sorts of work to get 400 reliably if you choose to go that way (they are prone to spltting blocks, they run 11.5:1 comp ratio standard. Pistons at least, probably rods too, Eagle rods are cheap as chips its getting beams specific pistons, TODA do them but are a bit spendy.

awesome mate, had one as my first car / project, good memories!!!

I would have thought, much better in an old car, but for a majority of crashes worse off in a new car that is designed to crumble in a crash, on the road anyway
-
everything iv ordered from the UK has turned up quicker than EVERYTHING i have ever won off trademe. Generally 3-4 days from "buy now" on the UK store
