  1. Any comments/advice on wheel colour welcomed
  2. Hey guys, I've had this golf for around a year now and have done a lot to it. When I picked it up it wouldn't idle what so ever and just didn't run well generally, timing was so out. Kept cutting out (electrical problems as well) had AA get it going 3 times before I got it home (9 hour drive). That's basically as it's had a 1.6 KJET swapped in over the original 1.1 carby and had a lot of missing parts. Good increase in power but want to do something bigger down the road. Finally lowered it on $300 coilovers from china haha Really like how it sits but is quite bouncy, can't complain for $300 I've had the 4x114 volks for ages but could never run them all around as adapters made them stick out too much, finally found a set of 4x100 on Trademe for $80 (selling as trailer wheels) which are perfect for the front then 15mm adapters on the back. I highly recommend deathmat with ccf as I had to but earmuffs for the drive home, it use to be so fuckin loud with all original insulation stuff removed by the last owner.
  3. Haha cheers man, will keep that in mind. A pair of spring compressors may be on the list
  4. I reckon I'll sign up to it tonight, cheers for the link. As for the springs/shocks what sort of price would I be looking at? Thanks heaps by the way, would be keen as on a hand to fit them as I've only ever replaced shocks on my beetle which is extremely simple. Yea the cars in Christchurch and I'll be back there mid November so work would happen around then. If you don't want to post a price on here just pm me, thanks heaps man. I would love to do it properly but we will have to see the price haha. Also shocks that are in there at the moment are like new so just replacing the rear ones to front ones would be the go.
  5. Also any help with ideas for lowering etc would be awesome
  6. Yea could be the one from Turners, the guy I got it off hasn't had it for long so could well be. No record of that though however still have original bill of sale etc which all look pretty dang cool
  7. Hey guys, thought I'd start a thread for my new ride. It's a 1977 Vauxhall Chevette with 56,000km's on the clock, sold brand new in Ashburton and even stayed in the same old bloke's garage till last year. I paid $4.5 for it which some of you will say it a lot but it runs perfectly and the only faults are that the front number plate has been re-mounted on the bumper and the paint is peeling off the parcel tray, easy fixes. Discussion Plans: Roof rack - Acquired/bought new feet/need clamps!! Visor - no gutters on A frame so need to get creative White walls - flappers or painted?? Sounds - need to be completely hidden, ideas where to mount speakers?? lowering - not wanting to slam it but just need it sitting better/need to be able to chuck original springs in at any time, ideas?? Not too big of a project but will be an awesome cruiser for summer, going to take her down to Wanaka for RNA/New Years. Second pic is obviously a photoshop but you get the idea Tell me if pics aren't working
  8. Discussion, probably not much as car is only having minor mods haha cheers
  9. Does that photo work for you guys?
  10. The car only has 56,000 k's and is mint so wanted to be able to chuck it back to stock. Might start a thread for it
  11. I'm in Welly for uni until mid November then back to Chch where the car is. Are there many of the Geminis around. I did a quick search on trademe and could only find a sedan which the guy said I could have the springs out of for $100 bucks.
  12. Hi all, Just bought a Chevette and want to lower it a bit, not slammed but just to have it sitting better. I can get a full set of Holden Gemini springs for $100, is it worth it and do they fit? I remember reading somewhere that they do. Any help would be sweet
  13. Hey man, I searched for your car on here after I saw it last night in my buildings car park. What went wrong? My gf said she saw people pushing it in? Looked awesome btw, those rims look so wide without flares haha
  14. Elite is starting to sound to be the best way as the nuts on the inside are round. I will drop in to my local mechanic on the way home tomorrow. If he can't, Elite it is. Cheers
  15. Cheers guys for the help
  16. Does anybody have a tool (or know what to use) to take these wheels apart? Thanks Here is a pic, I have got some bolts out already
  17. That's my main problem. I don't know what you would use. I had hoped someone would know a workshop that could do it cheaper I guess, I just wasn't sure if workshops would have a tool that would work. Maybe chill out because I was just asking, no harm in trying to save some money.
  18. $120 to take out 56 bolts (i've got 8 out already). I'd say it would only take ten minutes with the right tool, I just don't have it haha
  19. Just unbolt but they need an allen key fitting. Any ideas? I tried an allen key obviously but it just rounded its edges
  20. Does anybody know a place in Christchurch where I could get my wheels unbolted? Elite wheels want $30 per wheel just to unbolt them! Cheers
