So, Dylan is doing a great job on the ol' girl...
He got her turned over, but no spark.... And possibly the fuel pump into the surge tank is buggered... He's taking it for testing tomorrow. I hope that They are all fine, because I'm not working for the next two weeks, so no pay for me..... Cannot really afford new parts.... I got a little work at the Auckland home show though, it pays for my wheel nuts (with locking ones), tacho, and boost gauge (10 buks woohoo).
-
So what wheel nuts will work? Can you give a link? 1/2 inch? Or do you mean 1 1/2?
Also that l200 light idea on the other page, only just saw it. Bloody good idea. Might look into that a bit later.
-
Any body know the thread size for the wheels? 1.5 or 1.25, truely puzzled by it. And I cant test it because the car is not here.,...
-
So, car has been picked up and just arrived at CarTechNZ. Woohoo!
-
Ha, He'd thrash me with the 3.8 he is planning!
-
Yea corban thats the one (I think). Where you at bro? My cars about the head out west to Dylan out at CartechNZ out west. He gonna wire it up and get the beast running Hopefully get her back soon and start my dash haha!
-
hey are you tom? I think i went to ANI with you.
this wall looked fairly familiar
Hey man, Yes I am Tom from ANI. Haha, back in the old days lol. TIIIMMM!! YOu just added me on facebook. SUp holmes. Hows your project going? Just had a flick through the build log. Keen to check it out haha!
-
Haha cheers trej. I moved it onto my land again to makesure I dont get a ticket. The guy is picking the car up tomorrow. Can't wait haha!
-
Few more pics. Thanks Trej, Nice quality I know haha. More once the car is operational! haha
I went round to Tom's today to help shift his Hillman Munter for transport ot the auto sparkey tomorrow.here are some pics. Included in them is a poor quality photo of the fur seat headrests which I sewed up whilst watching Coronation St and drinking tea...

Sending her of to the shop tomorrow to get her wired up and running! Thanks to Cartechnz for hooking me up! Taking it out to him tomorrow arvo. Will get some pictures of her then. Ripped the vinyl of the dash and that is going to be glassed and tweeters moulded into it and the headunit installed. But that will be after the car has a warrent and is running
Cheers
-
Haha, thanks. Well plan is to get it running and go from there. Would like to get the sc14 supercharger in there, bit more boost. But thats after I get her running and after christmas haha.
-
So, pulled the dash and steering wheel a few days ago. Getting a guy to look at wiring it up soon, most of it is done, just the ecu plugs and ignition barrel.
Dash has cracks so I am fibreglassing the whole thing and molding in some tweeters while I am at it. Should be smoooth. would have pictures BUT the weather sI pack up quickly and really have no time for photos.... Damn rain....
ANytway, Project is in full swing for an ASAP warrent job.
-
So tomorrow heaps of work will be done I hope... Definantly get more pictures for the build. Tomorrow will be interior and side trim holes filled in. Yay sanding

Mate works at a mechanic, mates rates ftw. Going to start doing relays and as much as I can and take it in to a sparky to finish off. Intercooler is the least o my mind but look good that there is an option for intake and output on same side
-
It's water proof, no water getting in anytime soon
Thanks for all the support guys. The intercooler is the shortest piping it can have. Getting an auto sparky too look at it soon, once I save up a bit more. The wiring is truely a mess. Best to get someone who knows what they are doing
Holes are filling in now, nearly got one side going.
Bumpers are off because the front one is bent to high hell and I have no money for a replacement. Rear will look odd without it. So Bumperless it is. Luckily it looks nice without bumpers haha.
-
I'll have a go at it today if it dries out or stops raining enough, I don't own a garage so I just have a tent and tarps, haha.
How would you suggest moving the cap up? I'll go have a look but I didn't know you could just move the cap. Sorry if that sounds a bit stupid
-
It's not running beacause of wiring issues. And looks like its been left for a bit. Had no oil in it, Just dumped 4l in it and barely made it past the Empty line.
Thanks for pointing out the piping. Might fix that, but first need to get fluids into the radiator haha. There is nothing in it. It was missing a whole lot of hose clamps and stuff, that was the first little trip to Bunnings for me So run it under the intake? Not really too flash at piping fab just yet First bit of my learning on that will be the intake on the SC12 for the AFM and filter. No Idea how that is going to go though.
Thanks for the lights, they are exactly what I need for the front, there is a hole each side about 100 diameter perfect for those
Love this forum already, thanks for all the help. This is my first ever experiance with engines and bosy work. I'm pretty good with electrics and not bad with car stereos Can't wait for that part
-
It had turbo spray painted on the side as a joke Got a few double takes from people thinking it was. Turbo cities are harder and harder to come by.
Yea the front looks great without it. BUT the indicators are help on with the bumper, so I want to find some circle indicators, like little domes to replace them. Anyone know where to get anything like that?
-
Cheers mate, Looks like there is alot of nice cars on here! Hopefully mine will look anywhere as nice! It's a big power upgrade from my 84 honda city, should be good.
Possibly have her started up on sunday!
Only gripe I have with the car so far is the WRX bucket seats go back far enough for it to be comfortable for me to drive, but means literally no legroom for the back seats We shall see how that turns out.

Discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=18&t=23898
Just bought my second car. It's a 1973 Hillman Hunter, Just got it last week and going to be working on getting the engine running first and then running a checklist as follows (hopefully):
Engine running
New front Indicators
WOF
Central Console (with alot of cup holders)
Alarm
Stereo
But heres the catch: It has a 2tgeu transplant with a 4age supercharger on it with a large front mount intercooler, bit of new school mixed in, and also has the 5spd gearbox from a 4age.
Anyway, It's dark now, so only got the trademe photos at the moment. I've been working on mostly the body work at the moment, I took the trim pieces of the side and am filling in the holes so it looks nice, I removed the front and rear bumpers going for a more clean look. Car is just primered atm, this is going to be re primered and painted in red (most likely)
Anyway, pictures for now
THanks for your time
