Is anyone in the Auckland city area able to pick up 2 tyres for me and drop them off to a shipping depot, they're on trade me and the auction finishes this thursday (pick up only).
Payment will be made in order for you to purchase beers to replenish your thirst after a job well done.
Let me know if you can help.
Cheers

Not a lot has been happening waiting on some parts to arrive so just been playing around with wheel fitment once again..
decided to ditch the 9.5" rear rims idea at this stage as theres no specified tyre that a can get certed on with a 9.5 so settled on a 7.5" fronts (new outer lips with existing rear barrel should drop the offset to around 15 and 195/45 tyres).
8.5" rears (new outer lips and inner barrels about -35 offset 130mm~ish of dish, 225/45 tyres) tyres and rims will tuck no problems and can always go wider at a later date.
IMG_0837 by postlematt, on Flickrand just cause i got bored..
flipped centres and painted black barrel as i wont be using these barrels 100mm of dish so there will be more with new barrels..

try click the link above your post..
Cheers, yeah i saw those i just meant the bit where battlesnayke said he had some paperwork that said a 195/45r15 can be stretched legally onto a 8.5" wide wheel, i know falken 195/45r15 legally go on an 8" wide wheel so i wonder if a 205/50r15 would legally go onto a 8.5?
Cheers
-
Does anyone know if there are any manufacturer spec sheets from Falken that covers 15x9s? I have some that say that a 195/45/15 Falken ZE912 can be stretched on 15x8.5 but it doesn't have anything about 15x9.
Do you have a copy of these spec sheets im looking to get my wheels widened to an 8.5 so this would be handy when it comes to going through cert.
Cheers

Fitted up my new front bumper and test fitted the rear caliper brackets today.
Untitled by postlematt, on Flickr
Untitled by postlematt, on Flickr
Untitled by postlematt, on FlickrAlso spent most of the day working out rim sizes and hopefully i will get it all finalised tomorrow.
looking to get new lips for the front to take them from 6.5" to 8" which should give me between 2-2.5" of dish on the front.
The rears will be going to 8.5" so i can run a legal size tyre for cert and will also allow the rim and tyre to tuck up inside the guard without having to smash the guards out.
They'll be getting new inner barrels and outer lips and have an offset well into the negatives, the diff will be shortened roughly 50-55mm a side.
and the rear rims should have roughly 115mm of dish about 4.5"
Photos to follow tomorrow..

Cheers mate, im in Nelson and been round all the tyre shops and only found the one place who can do the toyos.
I have a mate in Rotorua who might be able to buy them on my behalf and then they can bring them down to Nelson with them.
Cheers

Im just wondering if anyone happens have any hookups with toyo tyres? im after a couple of 225/45r15's theyre $290 a piece from a local dealer but have to wait for them to be ordered in.
open to other tyre brands they dont have to be toyos but need to be 225/45r15s and will be used for road use so slicks arent really an option.

So i picked up my w50 for the Ta22 today, also bought a w50-T bell housing a while back, missing a cluch fork and thrust bearing if anyone has spares of these then im keen to buy!
IMG_0737 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0739 by postlematt, on FlickrThis also showed up today from ebay japan..
IMG_0741 by postlematt, on Flickra GT front grill. It was listed as a TA22 grill but its actually a Ra23/28 grill.
IMG_0743 by postlematt, on FlickrIm going to see if i can find someone who wants to swap for a ta22 grill otherwise ill keep it for the Ra23.
In other news, i milled out the camber plates after work to give me more adjustment.
IMG_0750 by postlematt, on Flickrbasicly im going to relocate it 180 degrees which means drilling new holes in the strut tower.. So made up this plate.
IMG_0752 by postlematt, on FlickrBolted up to redrill holes..
IMG_0757 by postlematt, on Flickrcamber tops bolted in, will have to do a bit of cutting/slotting
IMG_0761 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0760 by postlematt, on FlickrDropped it off the jack and presto! Finally.. Negative camber!

One of the members on toymods was kind enough to bring me a bumper over from Aus when she came to nelson for a holiday in january, it wasnt cheap but i couldnt find any replacements over here. had a few dents bit its pretty much rust free. I did some panel beating on it in the weekend and it came out alright.
IMG_0734 by postlematt, on FlickrAlso went into my old work on sunday with the old man and cnc'd up my rear caliper brackets and did a few other bits and pieces, will be modifying my camber tops tomorrow after work to allow from more -'ve camber
Anyway, rear caliper brackets..

Hey man, top work!
Just curious about your rear strut towers, did you have to get the welds signed off before you went for cert? im going to be modifying the rear strut towers in the ta22.

Cheers Ned, its slow going but should pick up once i move into my new place thats closer to the shed!
corey_jorg id been looking at all sorts of adjusties, i narrowed it down to civic/integra adjusties as theyre shorter the fronts are about 400-450mm from memory and rears are 295mm and have the pillow/ball (adjustable platform) also theyre a light weight car so i figured the spring rates wouldnt be too far off as a starting point.
i was originally looking at dc3 integra adjusties as a there was a set forsale locally that i looked at but they sold, i just stumbled across the dc5 apexi adjusties on trademe they were a fair price and 3 way adjustable, the fact the fronts shocks were sleeved top to bottom and had the removable lower platforms meant it would be easy enough to spin up a sleeve and weld upto my mx6*
Cheers

The positive camber needed sorting so my dad the GC that he is went into his work while its closed for the xmas break to do some stuff and while he was there he machined me up some new camber plate tops. I only get stat days off work so progress is a bit slow.
IMG_0626 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0632 by postlematt, on Flickrlooks like its sorted the positive camber problem.
Before..
IMG_0581 by postlematt, on FlickrAfter..
IMG_0635 by postlematt, on FlickrAlso rolled it out the garage for the first time in a year to give it a dust off and clean the garage a bit.
IMG_0643 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0638 by postlematt, on Flickr -
Hey mate, if you were looking for new items then might just pay to hit up and engineers that does cnc machining, a cnc lathe would spit out 50 of those in no time that way you'd have some spares. probably be cheaper and faster when you take into account trying to track down genuine ssr items getting them shipped etc.
-
Installed both adjusties on saturday cut some coils out of some spare rear springs i had lying round from the ra23 and dropped the bac end of the axel stands.
Then cleaned the garage as there was tools and shit everywhere..
IMG_0573 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0570 by postlematt, on Flickrthen today i borrowed some 25mm spacers off a mate and shoved the meshies on the front and dropped it off the axel stands, coils overs were wound down most of the way ill probly raise it another 30mm or so.
IMG_0575 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0576 by postlematt, on FlickrIts just running the standard ta22 top hats on the adjusties at the moment, going to cnc up a new plate for the apexi camber top as its running a fair bit of positive camber as you can see from photo below..

So idid a bit on the celica after work this week.
Got my sleeves finished for the adjustables, ill let the pics do the talking..
IMG_0539 by postlematt, on FlickrDrilled holes for spot welds.
IMG_0545 by postlematt, on FlickrSpot welded.
IMG_0557 by postlematt, on FlickrMocked up, going to need to run some spacers probably 15-20mm.
IMG_0561 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0560 by postlematt, on FlickrAlso spent a bit of time wiring up the dizzy..
After a bit of fucking around and trial and error i got spark but it wouldnt fire, so i set the point gaps and had another crack.
and..
http://www.flickr.com/photos/110232587@N08/11348784594/
First start up vid!!! pretty happy to have it running.
ignore the part where the dizzy pops out.. its a t series dizzy but not a 2tg one so i can lock it down, just had mole grips holding it and the vibrated loose.
If anyone has a 2tg mechanical dizzy im keen to buy!

IMG_0482 by postlematt, on FlickrThen reassemled two of them for the front, 40 gorilla bolts/nuts per wheel.. and will get the 195/45r15s fitted early next week.
IMG_0526 by postlematt, on Flickr
IMG_0528 by postlematt, on FlickrAlso cut down the mx7* strut casings and mocked up one of the front coil overs, sleeves will be cnc'd next week hopefully..

wednesday after work i sand blasted the impul mesh centres (right has been sand blasted, left hasnt.
Also started on my sleeves for my coil overs but now i have to wait until next week for one of the cnc laithes to free up which is a bi frutrating was hoping to have them running.
Thanks to OS GC smokin'joe i have have a mechanical dizzy and fuel pum for the 2T so i will try get the engine firing this weekend and will post a video if im successful.

IMG_0444 by postlematt, on Flickrhopefully get a bit of work done on the adjusties tomorrow.

My adjustables showed up in weekend, theyre apexi out of a dc5 integra, 3 way adjustable, sleeve, platform, dampner.
rears are 295mm from pillow ball mount to top face of the top hat.
fronts are totally sleeved and ill be doing a similar thing to what Brennan did in his ke70 with the max adjusties.
I'll be machining up threaded sleeves and weld them onto some mx7* struts that i already have

anymore info on tyre size when going through cert with a 15x9? will be doing this at some point but may just have to borrow some 15x8s if its that much of an ordeal although i want the car and cert to be legit
-
So ive been trying to figure out if i can get all my car certed before revin, thanks to the help of other members i found out i can.
Went and got a declaration of ownership and got it signed by a Justice of the Peace and talked to the gy at VTNZ he said just get it all upto standard then book it for a revin, he knows my cert guy so he'll just give him a bell to make sure its all legit.
So ive bought some Apexi adjusties with spring and platform and dampner adjustment just waiting for them to turn up which should be this week if all goes to plan.
ive worked out i need to shorten my dif housing 40mm each side to run the n14 rear disks and calipers, will be making up some caliper mounting brackets when the cnc's at the old mans work are free.
the impul meshies will be going 9.5" bead to bead did some mocking up to work out the kind of dish ill be running, clearances etc.
just flepped the centres and spaced them out.
want to keep the factory guards and will be rolling the inner guard and if i ever decide to run flares etc i can just run spacers.
Anyway, photos..

Finally made it to page two..
Long time no update..
TA22 Daily Driver build/resto

Look what showed up today..
Shortened hilux diff housing and axles 1260mm hub to hub so i can run my low offset rims without ruining the factory lines of the rear guards.
Also looking for a 4.1 diff head open or lsd hit me up if you have one going cheap!
IMG_0869 by postlematt, on Flickr
And also this, it wa sititng in customs for over a week while they sorted theyre shit out. they had classed it as commercial goods as it was addressed to me at my work so i had to do some chasing up and convince them it was personal goods..
Can you guess whats inside?
IMG_0872 by postlematt, on Flickr
How about now?
IMG_0873 by postlematt, on Flickr
71' Flat tail lights with fold down fuel filler centre garnish!
IMG_0875 by postlematt, on Flickr
These things are pretty hard to get a hold of, they only came out on the 1st year of production 71' and early 72' models, doesnt help that these cars werent sold in NZ and i was told the first shipment of the 71 celicas to Aus never made it, the cargo ship capsized or something along those lines and all the cars were water damaged and written off.
Theyre from L.A. and werent cheap but will allow me to get rid of the fuel tank beind the rear seats so i can modify my rear strut towers to fit the rear coil overs and ditch the spare tyre well and run a drop tank plus i can delete the fuel filler on the rear passenger pillar..
On another note is anyone in the Auckland city area able to pick up 2 tyres for me and drop them off to a shipping depot, they're on trade me and the auction finishes this thursday (pick up only).
