Hey man, just got a message through from Ewan before. Things are underway. Good work
Hey man,
Cheers! yeah i go in contact with him last week and confirmed i wanted to get a ta22 hood from restore.jp he gave me a price and i said i was happy but i haven't heard much else since. He said how they were currently getting some other parts in which i assumed were yours.
Does he normally contact restored.jp before taking payment from my end?
I was going to flick him an email today just to see what the go is with ordering and payment etc.
Cheers

yeah maybe thats the go, im not a huge fan of different colour bonnets even if they are carbon fibre reminds me of spraypainted black bonnets.. haha.
Yea i might try get in contact with Ewan, ive dealy with jesse streeter before aswell so ill see what the time frames and pricing is.
Cheers for all the info mate, really appreciate it!
-
Haha sweet i might have to go through cert with my shitter dented/rusted bonnet then slap the new shiny one on after. did you go with fibreglass or carbon fibre? im leaning towards carbon fibre.. but them i might want a a colour coded bonnet to match the bonnet and i wouldnt hesitate to paint a fibeglass one..
-
I have and I have some more stuff being ordered shortly (should have been done last week but should be done this week instead)
I'm not sure they do group buys, I'm also not sure how easy it is to deal direct, their listing on the Japanese site for parts is more than the English site (last I looked, I haven't bothered looking at the English for years)
I get/got mine through Ewan and will be doing the same again this time. I'll see if I can find my old invoice for the bootlid I got.
Edit: http://blog.retro-classics.co.nz/?p=4468
Fuck, it's been two years since I got it. hah... that's shit.
Sweet, cheers man!
Are they good quality products? what kind of lead time do they have?
Cheers

Thought id start this thread to see if anyone has had any first hand experience with these guys http://www.restored.jp/
They make reproduction fibreglass and carbon fibre panels for old school japas.
Im looking at buying a bonnet for my ta22 from them, emailed them 3 times but havnt had a response... maybe theres a language barrier?
Has anyone bought panels of these guys or alternatively anyone that would be keen to do a group buy to cut shipping and import duty costs?
Cheers

Has anyone converted a diff to disc brake in a car that was originally running drums?
Just curious about how i should go about plumbing it up?
Ive gone a got the pajero master cylinder which is a common upgrade for a ta22 running discs but can i get away with just fitting an adjustable brake bias valve and adjust the rear brakes accordingly?

Small update, bought a vw golf front chin spoiler from the uk and trimmed it up to fit the TA..
IMG_1701 by postlematt, on FlickrHad to mock it up multiple times to get it sitting right, plenty of trimming but the fact is plastic made it pretty east to cut and file etc..

Already msg'd you mate, but for anyone else whose reading this thread.
i bought my ta22 with no plates, rego or vin and no etching on the windows..
I got a signed receipt from the guy i bought the car off along with a photocopy of his licence, took it into the cop shop along with my chassis number and mod plate, they checked to see if it was a vehicle of interest on their system (it wasn't) gave me a letter saying the car wasn't of interest to the police and could be re-registered.
took the letter into vtnz saw the main guy there who does the re-vin checks he said that was sweet and to just bring that letter in when the car goes through its re-vin check and to also get my cert guy to give give him a call to say that the car has been checked and is up to cert standard
Pretty sure this will only work with cars that predate the introduction of the vin process.. my ta22 is a 71-72 and came factory with no seat belts in the back etc etc..

New drive shaft shortened and balanced, still waiting on parts from over seas..
Welded in the new panhard rod bracket today got to cut down the old panhard rod and re-sleeve it to fit a rose joint to make it adjustable then weld the new mount onto the diff.
Does anyone know where i can get a rose joint that is sweet for cert? regular ones dont meet the lvvta standards apparently.

IMG_1609 by postlematt, on FlickrAlso a twin side draft throttle linkage set up and some used uni filters that ill give a clean up, linkage was made for dellortos but should be pretty straight forward to make them fit my Mikuni Solex.
IMG_1592 by postlematt, on FlickrRadiator has a couple of bent fins from shipping but checked it and holds water sweet.

Not much to update..
I got a new windscreen today, 2piece driveshaft is in the shop being shortened up and having the hilux flange welded on , new radiator and inner/outer steering ball joints are on their way from australia. I've just done another bulk buy of parts from ebay, window seals, weather strips etc etc.
I coated the inside of the sills in fish oil then folded up some sheet metal to sort out the sill caps it was a bit of a mish to weld, kept blowing through the original sheet metal. have another plate to go on the end of the sill aswell..

I bought a factory ta22 t50 cross member off Mike (sleektoy) as it has a radius in one side for the exhaust to run under, as my extractors sit so close to the floor this is going to be handy to tuck the exhaust up as high as possible for ground clearnce but im running a w55 which mounts further back and fouls on the cross member..
solution.. cut it to pieces and make it work..
