  1. Finally the car has gone into compliance today so we just have to wait for the sheet to see what needs to be done and then its off to get certed. Small things have held up the process and I'm hanging out to get the car back to Auckland so I can drive it. Will get my dad to email me some pics tomorrow.
  2. Yep its a mini with a honda vtec engine in it. Looks way better now as he has all the back end done etc.
  3. More shit holding the car up from going through compliance. Bushes in the doors are fucked so have to get those done before we send her off
  4. So more delays which means I have to wait another week till I get the car. Since the car had only lap belts in the front my dad has to make up some mounting points so the sash belts will fit in and be compliant. Then he went to fit the carpet in and it doesnt fit due to the fact that the original carpet was quite rotten and the upolsterer didnt have the car so the car will have to go and get some new carpet fitted. Once those two things get done he will be putting all the trim on and then off for compliance and then certification.
  5. Hood liner is in and apparently it looks the business and there was some rust issues on the chassis rail that MAF had brought to our attention when the car first landed so one piece near the cross member has been replaced and there is another bit bit the radiator support to do tomorrow. Sorry no pix I will ask my dad to get some more before the end of the week.
  6. The classic car guy you are talking about is Terry and my dad use to work for him many years ago and yes he does have some pretty cool shit in there at times. No I am not in Wanganui, just both of my cars are as thats where my dads workshop is. The place you are thinking of was just a panelbeater and the guy my dad uses is I.C. colour down by the fire station.
  7. Hows this for a good deal $1300 for a full paint job, like to see you get that in Auckland!
  8. You would be surprised at what my dad can do heres his project car.
  9. I think I would be a way way off from looking at mags if I do (they were old school styled) as I too like the the white lettering as well and the stance etc thats why I am currently trying to find some tyres from overseas to fit as they dont do the 185/70/14 size anymore and the next one is a 205/70/14 which I will have to check out if the tyre will fit etc. I currently have some cheap arse chinese tyres on the front as the wear on the outside wouldnt have got me through compliance so I was super bummed out when I found out they dont do the tyre anymore. I think people are getting worried that I am going do some crazy shit to the car and thats far from what I orginally intended as the thing that attacted me to the car was how I first saw it and I only wanted to go the titanium colour to give it a modern look without going overboard. Shit I didnt even want to change the front suspension but had to because of compliance.
  10. Yea its really hard to judge when you see it in a photo, but everybody who has seen it in wanganui says it looks fucken unreal. Unfortunately I dont thinnk I will get a discount but maybe I could ask dad to try it on with the painter to see what he says, apparently I'm getting a good deal anyways so we will see what happens. I have seen some mags I would like to get later on that would look pretty good on the car and would compliment the colour but I will just cruise as she is for a while. Dissapointed that I didnt get the colour I wanted as it would have looked primo in the titanium but as you say the colour may grow on me.
  11. Shit man if you could that would be awesome, I would rather have new rubbers than some old shit. I would owe you one big time
  12. Gees didnt you see the LOL after my comment???? There is no way that I would ruin this car with some flames, flames are for hot rods not old school cruisers. Oh and look what I found an Orange version of my car. Except I think it doesnt have the same engine by the looks of the hint of an intake manifold.
  13. My dad has been cutting and polishing all of the body panels and has put on the trim onto one of the doors but due to the long weekend has been held back by customers coming through asking for quotes etc. Car is off to the upolsterer tomorrow to get the hood liner back in and I think my dad has gotten the dash repaired for my birthday present, but not to sure as he said you will be looking at it all the time but that was all he said. Damn it! So the dead line has been stretched out again due to unforseen issues so the car is coming up on the 12th of November now not the 5th as I had originally planned, but now there can be more time spent on getting things done properly and not rush it and have to fix shit up later. My dad also said that some of the rubbers are split from where they first took the car apart and he will go up to Horopito wreckers at some stage to see of the rubbers on the Gloria that is there are any good.
  14. I tell you its great having a dad who has lots of contacts in the car industry, he got a guy to make up an adaptor for my steering wheel to my steering boss(Sorry Sheepers) and it will be at a real good price I am sure. Hopefully will have some photos with all the chrome on the car as I suspect that dad would have been putting the car back together on the weekend so he can get it through compliance.
  15. Yea Goon spec is wicked and I just missed out on getting one before I saw the 4 door. Ewan was just going to have a look at the wagon for me and then the guy sold it. Bastard!! Nevermind I got a pretty damn good deal on this little gem and because it came from a japanese garage it has been well looked after and has lots of aftermarket goodies (BONUS!!)
  16. As stated before it was a cock up on both parts and because its my dad I cant really say sorry your problem you fix it as he is going overboard on some of the stuff to make sure I have a cool daily ride plus I get an awesome deal price wise. I mean shit the man repainted the wheels and polished up the trumpets on the carbs and did a whole lot of other stuff I didnt ask to get done so I will grin and bear it. As for the colour in the door jams he will repaint that when I go down there next time to work on the Celica. All I really want is to get the car on the road and not have go into another week waiting to get compliance and certification.
  17. Yes but if you were a car painter wouldnt you think to check if the codes matched the description? Its one of those situations where you could come a comprimise with the guy and shell out some more money but then it will also delay the car getting compliance etc.
  18. Yeah problem was that the codes were wrong to start with titanium is KAC and dark metal grey is KAD which KAD was said instead of KAC. Also dad painted the door checks in PPG and the painter painted the outside in Dupont so all up it was a stuff up that could have been avoided if the painter had done a test patch or even listened to my dad when he told him that there was heaps of pearl in it and the painter said it was just metallic.
  19. So main problem was that we gave the guy the wrong paint codes but he should have checked to make sure that he was painting it the right colour as it would have come up saying it wasnt titanium like what my dad had told him. So long story made short is it will stay this colour and apparently it is way lighter when you see it with your eye. Even the car painter next door said the colour looks amazing so we will see what it looks like with the chrome.
  20. Maybe I should chuck some flames down the side like this. LOL
  21. Yea was trying to go for the lighter colour as it looks fucken unreal when the sun hits it, trust me it seriously is cooool. Will just have to see what happens when my dad comes back from the painter. Still fucked off though.
  22. Was more to do with the fuck up of the paint was meant to look like this colour
