Very nice score. What does she need for a wof? I may be able to help. Here is the link to buy the odometer gear that is broken, with instructions:

Giz an engine bay pic, curious to know if mechanical or electronic injection.

Reunited and it feels so good. Feels weird tbh, happiness of getting it back/sadness of its state of repair. First job is done anyway, replacing smashed drivers door glass. I suspect the clips holding the lifter winder rusted out allowing the window to drop inside the door. Lucky I had spare clips.
Something interesting I forgot about this car - It was rustproofed when new in Singapore by a company called Tuff-Kote. The interior of all the panels is coated with a tar like substance which is probably what has saved this girl. Still has rust however especially around windscreen. Will cross that bridge when I come to it, just happy to have it back.

I considered setting up a transporting business, however once I learnt of classic towing's existence I realized they are filling the niche in the market I perceived as missing. I calculated the costs to determine viability there wasn't actually much room for profit, in fact I'm sure Classic towing did this job at a loss but were heading over the strait anyway so my job helped towards the cost as a back load. There probably is a way to make it viable, maybe taking freight no-one else will? I once tried to send a surfboard to from Tauranga to ChCh and Fastways said they wouldn't touch it with Courier Posts dick

I have been through this a few times now and thought it might be helpful to share what I’ve learnt. In the past I have used:
The Car Distribution Group:
Car Haulaways Limited, Auckland Vehicle Deliveries Limited, HaulPlus Limited, Nationwide Transport Limited t/a K&N Transport and Garden City Haulage
and
Auto Logistics: Auto Movements NZ, NZVD, JEFFS, PTS Logistics, NZL Logistics
also
Captain Transporter: I suspect they don’t actually do any transporting, as the couple times I have used them the cars showed up on a Jeff’s transporter.
Being fed up with the lack of service/communication and generally unhelpful nature of the above I wanted to look elsewhere for my most recent job from Nelson to Tauranga. Many of us have cars that are not running/un-roadworthy, too low, race cars etc. The companies above don’t care about this, in fact the car distribution group wouldn’t even touch this job as they didn’t want to send their transporter into a residential area. I contacted 14 other vehicle transporters, 9 wouldn’t/couldn’t do it or never got back to me and the others varied in price from $650 to $1000.
One of the above that couldn’t do the job (doesn’t travel south) referred me to a guy called Brent at Classic Towing. I was a little dubious as I couldn’t find much about them on the web (another reason for this post), but gave him the job as he was coming through Nelson heading north and the price was excellent.
Brent is a real genuine guy and a car lover. Next time I need this done I wont even bother getting quotes from anyone else. Classic towing treat their customers right and look after your vehicle. Can’t recommend them enough. Wish I knew about them sooner.

This one:http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=916957891
Yeah an older gent had a friend list it on autotrader iirc. By the time I rung him it was gone and later reappeared on TM for 10x that.
Got a spare radiator?
Cant help sorry. Have heard that 700/early 900 series are the same but cant confirm/citation needed
The timing just wasn't right for me to build a sleeper out of this, I was actually carjamming it to get its engine code to look at performance options when I noticed the picture was of the actual car, zoomed in for a better look and found the phone number...
So stoked that it's going to its rightful owner, I'll be following this thread.
What do you think about sending the drivers window glass down and I'll put that in before transportation? That would be ideal but I don't trust the couriers to not break it. And its in Fielding. Ended up paying $115 for it from Specialized auto parts in Ashurst. Probably got ripped but just happy to find one.

Far out, I have tried to buy this car multiple times over the years and always been a day or two late each time.
So stoked you have gotten it though, each time I was planning to buy it just to rob the dash, bonnet and front end to swap to my cars I have had at each time.
Depending on what is wrong with the gauges there is a guy that sells reprinted circuit boards for them for not toooo much money
Yeah, I bought the circuit board from said guy off ebay, and the repro symbol strip. Not sure if that's whats wrong with it, but the original is bound to fail sooner or later.
Let me know if you need some bits, I might be able to help, I have a early 245 wagon and have horded a lot of parts.
Cheers and likewise, I have a few myself

Eight years ago I purchased this car from a local Volvo enthusiast who had upgraded to a later model. Before that it was purchased new in Singapore by a NZ army officer who subsequently bought it back with him. At the time I had very little knowledge of Volvo’s (and cars in general) but needed a daily that would fit surfboards and drum kits etc. Over the next couple of years of really fell in love with it, travelled around the Coromandel, Raglan and across to Gisborne regularly when the surf was good. At this time it was in fairly good condition.
For the Volbros it’s a B21(carb) with an M40 (4 speed) box. In my opinion the best looking of the 200 series. This car has a couple of unusual additions such as the plastic headlight covers, R-Sport Rally dash:
and a compressor that raises the rear suspension, presumably for heavy loads. Not sure how it works or if factory installed. Investigation pending.
Due to a change of circumstances I was no longer in a position to be able to keep the car. I ended up selling it to a young guy who drove it down to Otago to attend uni and regretted it ever since. Fast forward a several years and three Falcons and I was never able to shake the Volvo bug. I restored a very tired 1995 850 and then a 1988 240 (below) but I still missed my bug eyed green monster.
1988 240, B230E, M47, Black leather, Heated seats etc:
In a desperate move try and find the car in 2014 I uploaded a photo to carjam with the following comment:
“I would like to buy this car back, text me 022XXXXXXX”
A year or so later, to my amazement someone text me. That someone turned out to be Nelson Oldschool Rep Sidewayssickness. He was kind enough to save it from a demo derby and even kinder to dismiss his sleeper build plans to sell it to me. I will be forever grateful to this fine specimen of a man. Unfortunately the last eight years have not been kind to the old girl:
With the car being in Nelson in myself residing in Tauranga, Sidewayssickness had a good look over it to determine wof eligibility/roadworthiness and I decided to put it on a transporter. At this moment its still in Nelson. The plan is to get it transported to my parents house in Feilding. I have been waiting for the weather to clear and before doing so as I want to drive down to be there when it arrives to ensure its stored well. Once there a friend has offered to bring it up on a trailer in October.
Known issues:
Gauges don’t work
Not running awesome
Brakes not awesome
Clutch not awesome
Exhaust Leak
No Drivers door glass (have replacement)
Numerous electrical issues
Rust to be determined
I'm sure everyone reading this has regretted selling a car at some stage, but how often do you get the opportunity to get it back?
