  1. Nah, I like to call it ZC and ZN sounds more Professional or douche.

    Anyways. I don't know why the last post got deleted.

    I mentioned I would like to see Topgear Doing a TV review on AE86 VS ZC/ZN side by side.

    Probably won't get much out of it,but surely it's going to be very cool and exciting to watch.

    And the best of all: PowerLAP!

    And TRD doesn't make these wings. Japanese aftermarket turners have some weird as tastes. They do some body kits and wings they think are cool as while the rest of the world think gross.

    Might be good on the air dynamics but F1 cars don't look ugly as fuck do they?

  2. Lingling, serious question... what does ZN and ZC mean? I keep on thinking you're talking about Honda 1.6 DOHC engines without VTEC.

    Page 16 of this thread.

    Yeh That.

    I think I may have asked this before, but at what time will this car begin to be known only by its chassis code?
    To be honest I think lingling started doing it since then as a subtle wind up.

    I am not doing it because of that.

    It's because there is the new 86 and old 86.

    If we all call it 86, that's very confusing.

    For example We call NA,NB,NC mx5.FB/FC/FD Rx7,R32/33/34/35 skyline.E21/E30/E36/E46/Fuck would I know bimmer.

    etc.

    Therefore, I have to call them by chassi code for the difference.

  3. I kind of agree with the Cayman review vs the ZN and ZC.

    I have heard people saying Cayman design is better and more balanced than 911s, but they made it slower because it isn't 911.

    So I agree for a pure Drivers Feeling comparison, also this would agree with Roman's experince.

    As long as People understand Cayman is a much more powerful and heavier car than ZN and ZC. IMO not very good to compare because The Weight and Power make these two cars in a totally different category. Not mention these Cayman is MR also. These factors would affect everything like handling, braking, etc. The more power and weight you have the harder it is to handle and brake in the first place.

    If you follow the reviewer theory and take the step further. You can probably argue that ZN and ZC is just good as or better drivers car than any Ferraris or Lamborghinis and Paganis ever made. To prove it you can put 600+ bhp into the ZN and ZC and see if they still handle the same I would think it would be a totally different animal. Chassi strength and Suspensions and Air dynamics etc etc.. Not much Experience in modifing cars, but I am pretty sure Truenotch would know his AE86 is totally different than mine. Just a theory I could be wrong at all.

    Overall. I believe it is a very useful information to the Consumers based Purely on Drivers Feeling. (well if we actually drove a cayman before)

  4. After failing once at one of the quarter glass.

    Now it's finally all back together. the Quarter glass trim is surperisingly easy to put on.

    and here is the photo. Can't tell they have been off before if you don't it for more than 5 mins.

    P1000285.jpg

    P1000286.jpg

    P1000287.jpg

    P1000288.jpg

    One of the major imperfection would be the upper part of one side has about 1-2mm gap between the glass and the trim.

    The reason for that is I stuffed it up for once, with hard and urethane. Then I had to redo it again but this time with soft urethane, so the glass had pushed bit further inside.

    Anyway I am very happy with the result. maybe just maybe next time will be faster, easier and better.

    Had fished oil heaps of the quarter glass. and some sills, will do all the sills etc. before I put interior back on.

    Now it's time to enjoy this shit before I do anything Major.

    Question:

    Hatch struts decided to be weak.

    Saw some in supercheap not sure the sizes, but beside that any suggestions?

  5. errrh, I recall the first r35 GTR I saw in white years ago was cool good looking ish.

    Then later I just didn't notice them as much, looks plain as all these New STIs and Evos on the road.

    That's just me. AKL has way too many of them I think. And way too many Astons,Maseraties,Juguars, Lambos, Audi R8s, Porches and Ferraris.

    so when comes to R35 errrh. R32 and R34 looks cooler now.

    The ZN and ZC just needs to be as good looking as the mx5, s2000,370z and I won't complain anything.

    I think it's not likely they will make other shapes of the car. They have not done that in last 20 years.

    A spider version is easier and more likely, but in saying that the chances are still very low.

    Also if they ain't going to make the turbo version, (Probably not)

    I would say the FA20 turbo in legacy would worth quite a lot due to it is very likely a straight swap job as we saw it in the ZC G-sport concept before.

  6. Fuck off Andy. Initial D is part of a complex equation.

    There's also a cult following of RX2's, 3's, 7's etc - do you think they relied on a cartoon or was it that the cars were good? The AE86 was known by most fans of motorsport as a great chassis for racing and rallying - right through till the mid 90's as Group N / Group A spec cars in NZ, Australia, Europe, Britain, Japan - the world.

    Then there was a lull in popularity, which like all "cult classics" was one of the main catalysts that generated popularity. Anyone could afford one, so lots of cobbers bought, skidded and loved them while the buying was good. The cartoon may have played a part in the minds of younger folk, but it was always a popular option.

    Alfa downdraft setup?

    right, thanks for that. so I am actually driving a good car ?

  7. I'd like to know how much hype there was for the AE86 back when it was released. It would be interesting to know if the cult status was created due to actual results and the owner's real-life love of the cars over time, or if a lot of its success was due to marketing (like the "New" AE86, which has no racing pedigree yet).

    It's a difficult thing to judge I guess, since most things in the past are looked at with rose-tinted glasses.

    I think everybody knows this.

    The Old Ae86 Hype was 99% created by Initial D

    I mean it is a good car not much more than the mx5, just 5-10 times price tag difference.

  8. Right, just the name really lame.. I choke every time I say Scion.

    Yep I know there is a FRS race and drift car.

    I agree, Porches use Only Box engines in their sports cars?

    I think the main reason They use box is because of they can achieve very low central gravity?

    I was little disappointed by it's power tho. S2000 made 240bhp and redline 9000rpm more than a decade ago.

    then again, that would add the price at lest 10g.

    200bhp is enough I think.

  9. Does it matter?

    All the cars are made by Fuji anyway.

    They're there to make money on making cars not much the brand I guess.

    Plus, Toyota Owns 40% of Fuji last time I recall?

    Also, I think Subaru is a upper brand than Toyota in some parts of the world I think. so People would probably buy Subaru instead.

    Like in US, Scion vs Subaru. I mean Why would Toyota name their brand Scion? Just sounds like a Granny's puppy.

    Lastly, I have a question, is the engine actually developed by Subaru?

  10. I doubt this car would look so much different in person than in the photo.

    The front design line is just like the current Toyota prius.

    I think the overall looking is very conservative, rather than striking and sexy.

    I would say 100 cars in NZ is piece of piss. We are poor but there is more upper class people in this country now than ever before.

  11. I'm guessing UE121?

    4U GSE engine code, E for Corolla, then 121 following on from the AE111?

    Nah, E120 is the bubble spec corolla, the first with the 1ZZ-FE. The E chassis in Corolla form is up to E160, so the 86 could maybe be a UE161, that's assuming it is even a Corolla? It could also carry the Celica chassis nomenclature or even begin its own, resulting in a different name.

    so above assumption is assuming it's a Toyota?

    Could have another Brand name, let's say Subaru?

    FHI Model Codes for North American FR-S / BRZ:

    ZN = FR-S / ZC = BRZ

    6 = 2.0L DOHC RWD (Naturally Aspirated) (FA20)

    A = 2012 Model Year, subsequent years will be B, C, etc.

    Y = USA or Canada Destination / 2 = Japan Destination / K = Europe (?)

    A = RA (Japan BRZ) or RC (Japan 86) Grade / B = Premium (USA BRZ), Premier (Canada BRZ), R (Japan BRZ) or G (Japan 86) Grade / C = Standard Grade (FR-S) / E = Limited (USA BRZ), Sport Tech (Canada BRZ), S (Japan BRZ) or GT (Japan 86) Grade

    (Basically: A = Stripped Spec, B = Low Spec, C = Mixed Spec FR-S, E = High Spec)

    7 = Auto (TX6A) / 8 = Manual (TL70)

    Option Codes (California-emissions states may have different option code, I've not seen enough to know, plus I'm in Canada):

    U4NT = USA Destination FR-S

    U4NJ = USA Destination BRZ Premium

    U4NG = USA Destination BRZ Limited

    C0NT = Canada Destination FR-S

    C0NJ = Canada Destination BRZ Premier
