  1. Above answer is correct.

I have been to new lynn repco. the guy couldn't help me ,I ended up matching them to the shelf myself.

Then someone from Hachi Owners told me he got them from repco with part number. 1cm longer, but I have to order ball joint studs.

Now problem solved. Could be solved sooner if the Repco dude knew what he is doing.

  2. Now, I have been waiting for Rob to do this since the day I saw Rob on oldschool.

I have been Robs Garage twice in the Last Six month.( and I am located in AKL LOL)

The White GTV which I know little history about, was on Trademe at late 2009/early 2010 I think. I have inspected the car and the owner at the time took me for a ride in it. I was surely fast as hell with the 4agte. but It wasn't stable enough.

I was really keen to buy it at the time for $10500. Some how I couldn't do it.

The white GT Coupe is actually mint last time I saw it. It is apparently most Ridged and light weight 86 ever made.

The Silver Panda GT Apex is/was always tucked away at the corner with cover on. Rob pretty much bought what ever is available in NZ Toyota + some in Yahoo for the GT Apex.

Rob is a perfectionist and Knows inside and out for all AE86s.

  3. I've had the ones in my Alfa regassed twice in 8+ years. Pretty sure it cost me more than $24 each. Got it done at some 4x4 specialist place in Glenfield.

How come you have to regas it twice in 8 years? Is regasing not as good as brand new ones?

I went to New Lynn SAS, says 30+ for each to regas, Repco actually has the struts on special $20-30. but It's either not long enough or have different fitting on both ends. Shit.

I probably have to regas it.

  4. Yeh I had Quote from Ewan 1 year ago. 10K NZ car in Japan to here is around 13-14k. That is ZERO Issues with Compliance.

If you buying an Old Car the compliance would be a very significant Expense. Orion has imported half of his fleet from Japan, he knows All about it.

  5. I agree with above. back in the day there were loaded with Brand New 15-30k turbo FR cars from Nissan( not that I was here).

Were the AE86s the Cheapest FR sports car back in the Day? I think it's around 8-9g American dollars for a Base Model.

Gutted. So, Errrh I think I paid the same money for a rusty one as when it was Brand New.

  6. Oh - was kinda being facetious but now wondering how many have actually been sold to the general public...

This I was indicating that this thread was started nearly 3 years ago with a photo - if thats not dangling a carrot/parsnip for too long...

Gt 86 sold out in OZ Months ago.

what's the target for NZ market again 200? Could do that within 12 month I would say.

  7. While we are still waiting. Someone else has already Bought, Used and Dismantled.

I was on my way to lunch with a coworker. There's a right turn I've taken a million times over the past 4 years that's very wide and has huge visibility, and I would sometimes get on the gas a little in my B16-swapped CRX through the turn. I never went over the speed limit, and I only did it if there was absolutely no one else around. Being a FWD, the front tires would break free a little and it would make the turn a bit more fun. Well, before leaving work I decided it would be a good idea to turn off the traction control and try something similar in the FR-S. That was my first mistake. I entered the turn at about 20mph, and halfway through it I got on the gas and I honestly can't remember exactly what happened after that. I remember being extremely surprised and then all of a sudden I was careening for a telephone pole, and then bam. I don't even think I hit the brakes. I must've hit the clutch pedal at some point because the car was still running when I stopped. Both airbags deployed. My passenger said he didn't even touch the airbag, I grazed it a little bit and it felt like I got hit in the face with a soft pillow. I must've been going 15-20mph at the impact. I couldn't believe how much the car just crumpled. I just looked at it and sat on the ground. I can't even describe to you the feeling of seeing it like that. I just wanted to cry.

I'm 24 years old, been driving since 16, and this is my first accident/ticket. I was ticketed for "failure to maintain reasonable control", which honestly was extremely generous given the circumstances. I feel like the world's biggest idiot. I feel like I've shamed myself and done a huge disservice to the community. Sorry just doesn't say enough. I swore I wouldn't be one of those guys everyone was saying would do something stupid and wreck the car and drive up the insurance rates. Now I'm not only that guy, but it seems I'm the _first_ guy. Not exactly the best way to make an impression. I want you guys to know that I truly feel awful about the whole thing. I am truly sorry for letting my fellow FR-S owners down, and through making a complete ass out of myself, I feel I've learned a valuable lesson, albeit a hard one. I know some of you (a lot of you) will hate me, call me an idiot, tell me I shouldn't have even tried anything like that on a public road, etc. And I agree with you 100%. I made a stupid, stupid, irresponsible choice, and now I'm paying for it. I don't think any of you can hate me more than I hate myself.

I hope I can stand as an example of what can happen even at relatively low speeds when you're being stupid. Please for the love of god don't be me. Drive safe, keep traction control on on public roads, and don't try to be Ken Block. Unless you are Ken Block, in which case, keep being awesome.

Said story, Pretty much the same feeling when I crashed my STI and EVO few years back.

But I bet I would had more fun If I had crushed the FRS instead of these awd turbos tho. just saying.

  8. Yeh, I think that should be the reason, and this car needs to be revved.

It is very interesting read really, seems to me that the writer is 200% over satisfied by it.

Also interesting enough that ZC(BRZ) has 10% stiffer suspension than ZN.

It also appears to be that STI and TRD can do what ever they want with the car. Love to see STI BRZ vs TRD 86.

    Best photo. Drifting King's Ae86(in the center) produces over 150kw from a 4age dam~!

  9. My bad, sorry guys. I am reading it now 1/3 way thru.

Interesting Boxer engine that has a torque dive. From 200NM at 2000-3000rpm then reduces to 180NM before 5000.

It's almost like 4age TVIS, funny enough.

    Errrr,

    called a torque curve.

thats common in most internal combustion engines.

    random graphical example.

    powertdi.jpg

seems like you didn't read it either.

  10. I read an article somewhere that was similar to above, but the concept was that Toyota were having a hard time convincing Subaru away from the AWD + Turbo vehicle. So, they cobbled something together using existing Subaru parts and it worked so well that Subaru came around. The fact that they did actually build the car using the Subaru parts bin kind of backs this theory up.

That does make more sense. I was wondering why would RWD using AWD suspension.

Well from all the articles we read. It seems worked very well.

So this car has Subaru engine, gear box and suspension. Also Subaru built the whole car.

Anyone know what did Toyota do? I think the chassi was designed by Toyota Yeh?
