  1. Does anyone know if there is a tuner in NZ who can re-write or modify the PROM's for an 86-89 TPI Chev ECU? ECM number 1227165 ... if not, I have to go the expensive route with an aftermkt ECU.

Approached Harman's here in Chch & they don't have the ability on the old stuff, but can modify the LS1 system.  Pro-Tune can't in Auckland either - awaiting a reply back from Torque Performance who James from Harman's suggested might be able to help.

    Cheers!

  2. Cheers for doing the paint job on the mini wagon roof Josh.  Made a nice job of it & finished product looks great.  So nice to have a paint job that doesnt look like a cracked eggshell anymore!  Josh even took some progress photos when he was doing the work & sent them to me which is great to have.

Can't recommend this dude highly enough guys :)

  3. Hey mate - how long can you wait?  I'll be heading down to my folks in Timaru for xmas day so can tow the trailer down & pick the engines up for you if you like.  That would mean I could put them on a pallet & drop them off to a freight depot in Chch so that's a big bit of the task taken care of :-)  Let me know if that would help you out.

  4. Yeah I've been watching it for a while, but I'm interested in finding a tidy condition Mk1 Escort 2 door.  I well expect it's not a Mexico because if it was the price would be much higher & the guy selling it would be quicker & more interested in answering his auction questions.

I've bought minis sight unseen from trademe before, & sometimes it works out & sometimes it doesn't.  When you're spending $5k+ then it becomes wiser to view & inspect the car first :-P  But unfortunately it's way up the other end of the country for me.

  5. Hi guys

Trying to get a bit more info on this:  http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=656756119

Have rung the guy & he seems fair enough in his description of the car, but at the same time sounds like a lot of the car work has been DIY (incl. the paint job) & he isn't a skilled mechanic or car painter.

I'm in Christchurch & the car is in Whangarei.  Any OS members reside in Whangarei that would shoot over & take a quick look around the car for major rust, or major rust that has been bodged up or covered over?

    Thanks :-)

  6. Looking on that Mintylamb SU website, when looking at your BBB needle in comparison to say the BDL or BDP (what Minisport supplies in their "Stage One" kit) your BBB needle is quite a lot richer in the mid range, but towards the top end it flattens right off into leaner mixture territory.

Ive also downloaded a free trail programme called WinSU which gives you a bit of an idea, but doesn't tell you the correct needle until you pay for the full version!  Have you also tried hitting up Larry at Swift Auto for his advice?  You might need to call in & see him as he is much better face to face rather than over the phone.
