  1. Sold the 440 vf coupe and bought a 57 plymouth....very similar to the fury in the movie christine..........still waiting for mine to start fixing herself in the garage.

body is all sealed and primed, chassis has been blasted and coated.

Im waiting for front and rear screens, and then on the lookout for a drivetrain. Its certed for a 360 so possibly a stroked 360 is the go,i dont want it to be a speed demon, just a family cruiser is fine.

    pics to come

  2. fuck the government.

I drive my safari on bclass exempt.

My mate has his HQ panelvan regs as a non commercial hearse= $60 odd a year.

My val ute was A class, never got hassled.

Fuck I even have a mate with an 84 caddy regd as a "moving machine"...= cherry picker ;)

  3. ^^^^ FUCK YEAH!

I rember reading up (before the internut) about Big daddys "swamp rat",the first "slingshot" dragster to break the 200mph mark, and the Wynns Charger dragster he drove also.

Hemi's were untouchable all over the place back then.............

My uncle had a 61 dart with the 426 "elephant" engine, push button auto, and that thing done a mid 10 waaay back in the late 80's at meremere, totally standard body, and thats a big fuckin car!

They must be one of the most desirable engines in the world for Mopar nuts like me................ill just dream on,looking at my six pack engine gives me a funny feeling behind the zip somedays :)

  4. thats a VF coupe,not a dodge dart.

    Looks the bit though.

    Same as my present project.

They were actually made by plymouth but were sent to OZ to be built as Valiant hardtops, something to do with a model change in the states and the body's couldnt be used.....so it is and it aint a Dodge......half valiant...half dart...........ALL MOPAR!

  5. Read this thru slowly and try to comprehend the amount of force produced in just under 4 seconds!

There are no rockets or airplanes built by any government in the world that can accelerate from a standing start as fast as a Top Fuel Dragster or Funny Car!

    DEFINITION OF ACCELERATION

One top fuel dragster 500 cubic inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows of stock cars at the Daytona 500.

It takes just 15/100ths of a second for all 6,000+ horsepower of an NHRA Top Fuel dragster engine to reach the rear wheels.

Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1-1/2 gallons of nitro methane per second; a fully loaded 747 consumes jet fuel at the same rate with 25% less energy being produced.

A stock Dodge Hemi V8 engine cannot produce enough power to drive the dragster's supercharger.

With 3,000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition.

Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle.

At the stoichiometric (stoichiometry: methodology and technology by which quantities of reactants and products in chemical reactions are determined) 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture of nitro methane, the flame front temperature measures 7,050 deg F.

Nitro methane burns yellow... The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases.

Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder.

Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After halfway, the engine is dieseling from compression, plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1,400 deg F. The engine can only be shut down by cutting the fuel flow.

If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in the affected cylinders and then explodes with sufficient force to blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half.

In order to exceed 300 mph in 4.5 seconds, dragsters must accelerate an average of over 4G's. In order to reach 200 mph (well before half-track), the launch acceleration approaches 8G's.

Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have completed reading this sentence.

Top fuel engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light! Including the burnout, the engine must only survive 900 revolutions under load.

The redline is actually quite high at 9,500 rpm.

Assuming all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, and for once NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs an estimate $1,000.00 per second.

The current top fuel dragster elapsed time record is 4.428 seconds for the quarter mile (11/12/06, Tony Schumacher, at Pomona , CA ). The top speed record is 336.15 mph as measured over the last 66' of the run (05/25/05 Tony Schumacher, at Hebron , OH ).

Putting all of this into perspective:

You are driving the average $140,000 Lingenfelter 'twin-turbo' powered Corvette Z06. Over a mile up the road, a top fuel dragster is staged and ready to launch down a quarter mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the 'Vette hard up through the gears and blast across the starting line and pass the dragster at an honest 200 mph. The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that moment.

The dragster launches and starts after you. You keep your foot down hard, but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums and within 3 seconds, the dragster catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter mile away from where you just passed him.

Think about it, from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 mph and not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1,320 foot long race course.

  6. not soo rare.

They bought out one model with a strange looking front on it also.

Like the escort mexico sort of thing.....looked like a munted firebird nosecone (smokey and tha bandit model).

I know where theres a red and black coupe sitting up kaikohe, basically a magnum with smaller engine and less doors.

    Cool cars though.

  7. oh....no shit.

I figured it was restricted cause of the 2.0l afm and a small exhaust, but it seemed ok on compression, and ran fucking well while I had the engine,in two different cars.

I would have gone carbs if I had the cash, only way to go.

Theres no sound like a good 6cyl on full song with carbs.

  8. Hiya Joel.

    jason here.

So you changed the entire engine, for what reason dude?

That was a good tight engine....going for higher compression maybe?

Ive still got all the other parts here for you,but ive been a bit broke trying to source parts for my 440 build so Ive had no coin to send it for you.

    So hows the build going?

Any questions about the mighty L series engine, ask DJZ....he da man there.

  9. well.

    Not alot has happened.

measured up the areas for the tubs, put the front brakes and torsion bars in.

    Just hunting down parts now.

Also been lookign at how to do the tilt front, cut all the guard mounts out of my VIP and have them ready to go in the coupe.

Waiting on radiator and big 727 yoke for the shaft then its a test run down the backroads.................nice 5km long straight out this way :)

  10. got some time yesterday,so hooked up the ECU and other new bits....bitch fired up like it had just been turned off!

    Me= :cyclopsani: STOKED

Pulled the single spinner out,put the 2.92:1 aLSD in.

Just torsion bars, shocks, fuel tank and brake lines and itll be pulling nice large lines up the road.

    Still after some parts though.

  11. If your keen to sell some parts, ill be keen.

If I had the money id fly down to gore and rip the PO another asshole, through his fuckin head.

pretty much holding my other parts to ransom as I forgot some VIP parts for him,now he wont send mine till I send his....i can see where this is gonna go,so id rather get parts from other sources as I cant afford the plane ticket,or a rebreak of my hand again.

Soooo............whos got VF/G coupe parts :):bounce:

  12. Should go ok once im done with it,still want it streetable though.

Do you or your oldman know of any partsThe guy i bought it off is being a bit of a cock about the other parts he forgot (i forgot more).

Might need offset booster,i gave him my remote one....VH44 i think it is,i need a VH40 apparently, and some VH/J vented rotors just for now.

Im after a 9inch also, fuck going dyna, waaay too big and next to no parts around.

  13. Finally got my new toy, after towing the ute on a trailer, loaded with 2 318/904 combos,4 doors,8 wheels with tyres and alot of other shit to wellington onto the ferry......never fucking again!

    Heres a few pics.

its going to be a strip car at first, then I might turn it into a gasser, tilt front and shitnot totally sure yet.

    440 magnum,727 trans,will have a ford 9inch soon.

    Im fuckin stoked,finally a real V8,not that I dont like small V8s,I just LOVE big-blocks :)
