Thanks guys
B16a doesn't fit into the 1G CR-X easily. Think custom mount kit / drive shafts ex-usa, plus cutting, chopping and bashing the chassis rails... And to be honest, the ZC is a more bullet proof engine when it comes to love of boost
-
Sadly there are only 3 cars with the 4x120 pattern. 1G Civic, 1G Accord and RX5 Mazda. RX5 mazda wheels aren't too hard to find ex-japan. Its just the shipping that is a killer.
-
ooohhh damn, yea didn't think it was factory. NZ build ones didn't come in black, and we really only have '74/75 Jap built ones
Good luck with the project, if you get stuck for parts let me know, have wrecked many over the years
-
Is its factory colour black? If so that is a real rarity
-
wheels kinda suit imo, look early 90s spec
-
Cheers guys
Rich keen as for photos, waiting on my wheels for the CR-X to be done, and the replacement stickers for the doors of the City.. So maybe one evening in the next fortnight?

Relevant to this thread
Done in '85, by Japan's Motor Magazine.
N/A 4age is comparable to the 1500 sohc 'ew5'
Nissan March Super Turbo is awesome, one of my favourite cars in Grand Turismo 2, use to own that 80s race so you could win the Silhouette Skyline

ah so a poor man's Ferrari
and now don't expect change for 1/4 million for a decent example
-
Been able to play cars most of the working week due to lack of work at work, and break between uni so slammed the daily
Shit photo is shit, but managed to get the city a fair bit lower. A 50+ mm drop in the front, and heaps in the rear.
Yay for Honda lego! Didn't spent a cent, just used other stuff I had spare
better pics to come

Bit of progress on the EB
Reco'd radiator, plus had the fan frame powered coated and fan blades cleaned
As it sits now. Inner guard tops have been taken back to bare metal and treated. Next is the firewall seam, and some spots in the engine bay
Also cleaned up some wheels for the city, and started restoring my wheels for the racecar EB Civic
City wheels, just small 13", 165/65 tyres and +20 something offset
From this
To this
Finally this
Quite pleased with the result, my first time painting with gun and a proper booth.
Civic wheels
Centres are getting coated because they were quite corroded, now just need to track down some new bolts
-
Got the suspension back into the EB, find the bolts was a bit of a hassle but its a rolling body again now.
Also did some investigating about its ages, Turns out its a '73. Came into nz 10/73. Which must make it one of the earliest EB's in the country. The previous oldest we knew about was 1175XXX, Our burnt out one 1179XXX this one is 107XXXX
Also began cleaning the engine bay up

Few updates...
These are the factory city brakes. Pretty sure they are the smallest brakes ever produced by Honda, they are absolutely useless. (Even smaller than the 1974 Eb1 Honda Civic)
Thank you Honda-lego
Raided my parts bin for some sizeably bigger E-AS CR-X Si ones
Suspension is next on the list for the city, as its riding high atm. Really high, high enough you are eye level with the driver of a Odyssey haha
On the City wish-list, the Motocompo, the motorcycle that honda offered as an option in the 80s that folds up and fits in the boot of a city turbo
Also scored some sweet 2000's NOS stereo gear for the City + CRX... Wooohooo All black touch screens and built in 256mb hard drive! Pretty hard case this stuff use to retail for $600-800, now the average cellphone has more advanced technology
-
Two words, Super Silhouette
-
Awesome, love the shape of these. Just finished putting a new boot in mates gz10

Think there was just shy of 20 separate plate on the inter and outer that were made
Get to that rust pronto, this one was so bad because someone had covered it up with silicon rather than killing it to start with
-
Pray the rear water hoses don't leak once it gets used again.

80s cars rock.
Possibly the biggest advance in auto mobiles in a half / hole decade?
I'm not too clued up on Toyota / Mitsi / Nissan, but the changes for Honda go like this
1979 - Honda Civic - 56 odd horsepower, single cam, 8 valve, single side draft carb. Next to no electronics (Literally the lights, coil and alternator). (No tacho, no clock)
1984 - CR-X - 130 odd horsepower, twin cam, 16 valve, fuel injected. ECU, with ability to detect engine faults and offer 16 different possible solutions for not running correctly. Electronic fuel consumption computer that logs km/l, average speed, current fuel economy and a electronic trip meter. Digital dash - speedo / tacho.
1984 - City Turbo. Same block as Civic basically. 100 odd horsepower. 12 valve (CVCC system), fuel injection. dual map sensor system with ecu controlled electronic boost control
/end honda comparison
The difference is huge, and comparatively they were cheap, economically, hatchbacks.
At the other end of the scale, consider the difference between a Lamborghini Countach, and a Ferrari F40 or Porsche 959

Oh and I <3 60s/70s cars too haha

This happened way back in '09
http://nzhondas.com/community-gallery/97050-little-f-kers-dhwarning-56kdh.html
Our '74 Japanese import EB1 civic got firebombed by some vandal cunts.
The '74's are especial rare, they were Japanese built rather than NZ built. Which meant higher spec all black interior, and a few extra factory features, including superior rust protect. But the downside is, they were only private imports, so there aren't many in the country.
After years of searching, earlier in the week, by a stroke of luck we came across another '74.
The car was suppose to be complete, but the idiot scrap metal guys who had it stripped it even though we had agreed to buy the whole thing
they did a sweet job of hammering the dash out...
Interior is a mess, but complete so that's a bonus
Car was parked up in a barn or something in '09. Its full of straw and dried plants... Thankfully keeping it dry has meant the car stays rust free. Theres two small bubbles on the shell and it needs a door and guard. But otherwise pretty amazing for a 38 year old car.
The goal! Stand-by as the suspension and running gear are swapped over out of the burn-out. Then it'll hit the paint shop (Again, damn it, thought I was finally over painting cars!)
-
Saw a Celica supra on the motorway had massive bozo exhaust and was on hayashis and low as fuck anyones on here?
It had stance nation shit all over the rear window
was it green? saw a sweet supra/celica the other day on pakuranga highway, didn't catch the rear though
-
Cheers guys, Would love to have the Civic ready for April, but waiting another 8 weeks for the suspension to be finalized, then expecting hefty shipping times from the UK.... Might bring the CR-X or City instead though

Been lurking here awhile, thought I might share my dirty old hondas!
Oldschool and Honda, probably not what comes to mind for most of you... haha.. Below are a couple of my front tuggaaas (First generations of their models, so about as 'oldschool' as they can get haha)
'84 CR-X Ballade Sports
Bit of background
One of the first hot hatches out of Japan. 800kg, 135ps, mass produced twin cam fuel injected engine was pretty ahead of its time for '84! Front end (Guards, nosecone), sideskirts, door trims are all ABS plastic to save weight.
I got it with a horrible blue interior, fail spec 1500cc motor and little brakes and soggy suspension.
How it started back in '09
'10 - Suspension in, ZC fitted
This arrived from Japan
Bare metal begins
Nat's '12
So after a bit of work, its now got a full black Si Interior. Custom built bilstien suspension, re-indexed torison bars - nuespeed springs. Twin pot brakes nicked of a 1G Legend.
Engine bay is awaiting a early 80s HKS kit that I got ex-japan. Body got a repaint, it snowballed from a dented door by the neighbour, to a full bare metal repaint, inside and out.
My other toy..
'79 Honda Civic.
Again, First Generation, but the last of the 1G - an EB3.
As I got it, a '79 ZR - featuring twin dellortos, it had just recieved a fresh panel and paint, and the cage fitted.
Did a few basic mods, hot cam, 4-1 headers, upgraded ignition and ran a 5 speed en1 box.
Ran it for a while like this, pissed a few older gentlemen in much more prestigious cars off in the Classic Trails series.
Then stumpled across this, a NOS EN4 motor (a jump in displacement from 1238cc to 1335cc). Was continualy plauged with carb issues though, so it never went well with this motor.
Purchased this as my daily driver. A EB3 Civic, with Turbo II (Honda City) running gear.
Subsequently a mate left it here for me, literally 500 meters from our workshop. (DONT LIFT OFF IN FWD Turbos)
So the motor went into the racecar.
Its last outing, about this time last year. Plauged with some overheating issues, and suspension woes, has taken a backseat over the past year. But will be receiving a bit more attention once the adjustable suspension setup arrives mid-year.
Ohh and the current daily driver
All feedback welcome, keen to get a bit more involved in the oldschool car club, as I'm a big fan of 80s (and 70s) cars of all marques

That hks exhaust temp gauge is useless without the sender unit
think my mate still has these for sale
-
gt radial do a 165/65 R13. Would highly recommend the yokohama dna gp 155/60 R13s if you can find some. they sit nice and offer decent grip for such a narrow tyre.
