  1. Quick question for someone who may know. Is the brake master cylinder different on a auto wagon different to a manual? And is a sedan different??

I'm using a cylinder off an auto wagon on a project and need another. Just wondering if I'm just looking for a mk3 cyl or not.

If it matters the wagon was purple. No idea on year or engine.

  2. I have too many projects and not enough space. Yes I know we all do. I have come up with a plan to stack two cars. But how do I lift an empty shell up two meters. Shed isn't high enough to use a chain block. Any ideas????

  3. I have a project in planning that will require a lot of chassi mods. Basicly I'm wanting to turn a RWD into a Project a 4WD. The donor vehicle is also independent rear not solid . So the changers basicly are converting to independent rear and running drive shafts in the front. (If only it was that easy) My question is regarding doing chassi mods. I see on the LSTA web site this sort of work needs to be approved before starting. What is involved in getting sign off to start doing the work. I have photos of cars done the same overseas these I intend to use as a basic guide but what else is needed?

  4. I'm putting a 5 speed in my RWD. To fit the box the only thing being changed is the drive shaft. From two piece with CV to one piece . Drive shaft will be built by engineering firm that specializes in drive shafts. floor won't be touched factory mount factory cross member factory bell housing gear box is from same manufacture. Car is factory manual 4speed. Do I need a cert?

  5. I'm planning on doing a 5 SPD conversion on my 4SPD RWD. The only thing that will be changed is the drive shaft. factory gear box mount factory cross member. Getting drive shaft made by local engineering firm that specializes in drive shafts. Do I need a cert?

  6. If doing a brake up grade I would stay away from princess calipers. I don't use them on my V6 and never would. My capri user standard calipers and booster with a master cylinder off a unboosted MK3 cortina. Master cylinder bolts straight up and gives heaps of pressure. Plus the cheap silverline brand pads Repco sells. There as dusty as a desert but take a heap of temp.

  7. There is always a lot of talk about having a bucket list. But do U have a project one. Mine is called the never never list. Cars /projects I will never be able to afford to build or never should. For me the biggest one is to convert a car to coal gas . Thinking a ute maybe late 70's or 80's .

What's on the top of ur list.

  8. I'm looking at buying a dereged kit car. It has plates as in number plates it has the reg papers from the donner car. But not paper work relating to the kit car. The owner thinks the plates went dead late 80's before cert plates. What's the go with getting it legal?

  9. Some "Boy racers" killed in an accident in chch few years back. Car had full cage. Was talking to local cage builder about it. He had been an expert witness for the police at the inquest. The cage was built and fitted in japan. Had never been inspected here. was of crap design and too smaller tube .Didn't help in the crash neither did not wearing seat belts or over doing over 100 in a 50 zone

  10. I'm looking at building a Myres Manx kit car. Kit uses VW bettle as a donor. My question is regarding getting a reg. I'm planning on using an old body . So is it easier to register it as a new Kit car or find a donor with live plates. Car is for road only . Will have a roll cage and harness. Yes I realise it will need a cert and I have a motorsport licenciƩ

  11. I'm Looking into building a manx buggy which uses a VW beatle floor pan and drive train. My question is will it be easier to register as a home build or use the reg off the donor car. Will it Still be cheap reg if the donor is older than 40 yrs. I realise either way it will need a cert. It's getting a roll cage harness and race seats

  12. I currently trying 2 find the drive line or complete of the above car. Have found someone on the opersate island to me wrecking some. I'm trying 2 avoid huge freight costs. So looking at buying a gear box. Can anyone tell me if rear diff head from 4WD will match up 2 sub frame/suspension and axles of a 4wd . Or even better is ratio of 4WD and RWD the same.

Someone selling the parts/car in the 03 would be handy.

  13. Has anyone on this site done it. Yes there are better rear ends and ones that will fit easier. But I'm wanting to use this for a reason. I have found someone in England that has done it. I'm currently trying to get in touch with them. So was wanting some local advice as well. I have seen photos of the English conversion and it looks great. Any advice on someone who has done it would be great.
