  1. I to like those wheels, modern but still with a hint of retro thrown in.

    195/45's all round?

yeah, 195/45's on rear, not sure what will work for front, 175/50, 165/50... 808 guards suck. don't want to have to break out the spray gun again.

  2. Yes got a letter too..

Interesting first paragraph in the brochure that came with it.

I've been threatened by police when I was taking my RX7 for a wof, said I should have it towed if it has no current wof.. lol

Will be keeping this brochure in the 808 glove box.. :)

    1. Using a vehicle on the road for inspection, servicing or repair.

If you are using your vehicle on a road solely for the purpose, and directly to the place, of inspection, servicing or repair, you will have a defense for using an unlicensed vehicle. This is similar to the law which allows people to drive a vehicle without a current Warrant of Fitness as long as they are talking the vehicle directly to a garage or testing station. This means that your vehicle must be licensed if you are using it for any other purpose but you may drive it unlicensed for these purposes. Please note however, that the vehicle must still be safe to be operated on the road even if it requires repairs in order to obtain an inspection.

  3. NOT FAIR!

    Whats in it??????????

Lol, nothing flash, just got the standard motor back in it.

Got sick of pushing it in and out of the garage to get the mountain bikes out.

Just spent any spare engine cash on a trip to japan next year, so would have to sacrifice snowboarding in the weekends to get something fun in the engine bay, I'd rather be at the snow :P

  4. finally moving under its own power again!

now just for new front shocks, raise the front up a bit, wheel alignment, new seatbelts, finish putting some of the interior panels, and go over all the nut bolts over neath, should be on the road again :)

  5. Still has the 808 interior in it, but got all the RX3 interior sitting in storage, might put it in to.

hey man, recently got one similiar, but am keeping 808, its got amazing interior, but was wondering whats the difference between 808 and rx3 wagon interior? or just dash and centre?

Hey, they are actually quite different, the steel dash frame that bolts to the firewall has is different, this has a larger opening to suit the large rx3 centre dash panel that houses all the extra gauges, oil presure, amps fuel etc. The glovebox and plastic around the speedo are the same, just the RX3 has the taco + rev limit buzzer.. In behind. The dash Air vents are chrome plated on the RX3's. The sedans have the center console down to around the handbreak, the coupes and wagons an extra box that sits above the handbreak. RX3's have differnet door panels, they go right up over the coloured panel on the inside of the doors, seats are different, even the window winders on the rx3's had a chrome insert in the centre of the winder..

Then jap spec RX3's - Savanna's are are all different again from the US, AU and NZ spec interiors.

Finding any interior RX3 parts now it just about impossible, even most of the RX3's don't seem to have half there bits. :?

  6. ^ same.

Also that dark cherry mica RX8 colour, would be a mish to touch up. Any damage and you will be doing full panels, you can't just blend a small part. every stone chip will show up, then any polish make it stand out 100% more (my old RA23 celica was pretty much the same dark cherry black metalic colour, painfull..)

Old school factory flat colours all the way! :D

  7. Do will grab those lenses wednesday (payday) if you can get them otherwise ill put the dollars aside till you can.

    chur chur

Hey man no problem, they are sitting at home, have just moved everything out of storage into a new house.

So finally getting all my shit in one place!

Think you have my number, just give me a txt when you have a chance.

  8. Seriously I'd sell them.

I've always owned atleast 5 cars at the same time for the last 15 years atleast..

Finally started sorting my shit out and getting rid of them over the last few years.

Best thing I ever did, spend way more time surfing, snowboarding and doing other things I love doing.

Cars are fun, but to many or projects, or projects you are just not interested in is pointless. Just end up a ball and chain, pain in the arse. Money ends up spread too thin trying to keep to many cars on the road. aswell.

Sell them and get your freedom back.. haha.

Cars always come up for sale, guarantee you will find something later on if thats what you want!

  9. Oh hell jeah!

That is so sweet man. Anymore plans?

Cheers, Not sure what to do with it, having issues storing it at the moment.

wish it was a pop top some times, would make it easier to put in someones garage or storage unit!

does it really have an 18R-G?

woops typo, was wishfull thinking?.... just an 18R

Where di dthe oldproject thread and disscussion go?

Sweet sweet van, so jealous yours runs,

Few pics of the random Toyota Hiace Camper I picked up a couple years ago.

Wanted to rent one for a mission around the country over new years, were pretty expensive as to rent for the amount of time we wanted, so ended up just buying this.

Its the First Camper vans Maui ever built!

    015we.jpg

As purchased off an old couple from Palmy (well there daughter was selling it, didn't know anything about it), wheels were wrong offset and drove like a pig.

    001purchase1.jpg

Found out it had an awning with full sides, bonus!

    002purchase2.jpg

Wanted to get some standard wheels, found this on trademe, 1978 model cheap cheap and pretty rusty!

Had a tidy chrome bumper, but unfortunately no rear one.. and finally some standard wheels and hubcaps, van drove million times better just changing the wheels!

    003camper.jpg

Suspension was crap, so brand new everything, starting to drive a bit more like it did in 1982

    004suspension.jpg

Ready and rolling for new years 08!

Unfortunately some dip shit broke into it while it was being stored and smashed the whole interior to get the $120 head unit out.. sigh.

They even managed to damage the steering column+ smash the whole column shift unit.. so that needed replacing also.

So months of searching for parts, managed to get it all running again before xmas, so loaded the boards, bikes and went for another southisland mish for a few weeks.

  11. I've polished glass heaps in the past, but with all the glass out of car.

Clean really well with a razor blade and window cleaner, then use a polishing machine (car buff type setup) only run no more than about 3000 rpm, put a bit of burnishing cream on the glass - can get from auto paint suppliers its a 3m product.

I have a massive mattress sized bit of foam about 15cm thick, lay down each bit of glass on that, seem to help it from flying accross the garage and smashing into a million bits if you happen to catch an edge.

Have a old window cleaner bottle filled with strait water, make sure you wet the whole surface, then using the polishing machine with foam pad fitted carefully run back and forth over the glass keeping it wet (is easy to burn the glass and scratch it)

Does take a bit of practice, but takes off water marks no problem, even scratches can be removed, glass looks brand new once finished!

  12. Yeah man, no prob.

I bought a set of tail lights to get the 79 model chrome metal surrounds, they all run the same lenses up to 82.

So Have a pair of my old lenses sitting in storage, both mint. Will have a look for ya this weekend.

rot808 has my cell number, give me a txt as I'm useless and may totally forget about it.. haha.

  13. Could use some parts too.

Need tailight lenses at least asap.

Oh, might be able to help you out with that one, found some in a box while moving shit around before xmas!

Will be interesting if I can find them again tho.. haha.

  14. You don't know any part cars around north island at the moment? 77-82?

My passenger window wiper alloy housing thingy finally self destructed when I drove it out for a surf Saturday :(

Looks like you are doing a mint job on the Hiace, body looks very rust free too!
