^^^ all media sensation.
16/11/11
Yamanouchi also did not hide his love of the rotary engine tradition, stating in order to clear up recent speculation of the end of Renesis, "So long as I remain involved with this company, and I have been here 44 years and have no current retirement schedule, there will be a rotary engine offering or multiple offerings in the lineup."
http://www.autoblog.com/2011/11/16/mazd ... et-rotary/
But yeah still think we will all end up driving electrics eventually, but they are still rotary right?

was going to chuck on trademe auction for 12k
Bit spency for an 808, but think should sell for that, if not can sit in storage.
-
Cheers, yeah kind of lost enthusiasm to keep playing with it.
Think rebuilding two of the same model car was the biggest mistake! haha.
Actually drives pretty sweet, such a tight low k body, gets plenty of "yeeaa boi's" from randoms on the 3 or so times i've actually driven it.
Going to flick it and do something else I think!
-
Finally got some pictures with wheels on.
Went down to 100mm ground clearance, as low as I could go and get through Vin.
Also will fly through wofs at that height... tyres are a bit on the ilegal side tho.. front esp stretched to shit to get on, 175 would be better, think i could run if put camber plates up the front.
Would like to drop it another inch, but will mean breaking out spray gun, should have rolled under edge of the guards, but didn't really plan to run such wide wheels..
Still pretty happy with it, was the look I was after.

looking good man!
Now must be time to put on that windscreen chrome?
-
Just passsed through getting vinned! YEEEaah, back on the road!
-
Had white wall guy around Friday!
White walls looking all crispy new again, last set was done back in 2004, were starting too look a bit av.
New tyres on my original 808 rims that I had acid diped, painted back to the original sliver.
-
Looks sweet, but yeah quite liked the original colour.
You're lucky to have an old man that can hook you up with a paint job that fast!
-
hmm, would also be interested in what tyre brand they use.
-
heaps of room in the rear, recon you could fit a 10" wheel with a different offset.
Didn't really want to start messing with dif, hmm will see.. chassis rails are a 100mm off the ground where its sitting now, so any lower is going to also cause wof issues too.
-
1" lowering blocks in the rear, as low as I can take it with out lipping the guards..
Looks a heap better.
Photochop another inch.. so tempting can't be arsed busting out the paint again.
And any more low, and its going to start scrubbing guards.
Wondered what the wheels would look like bronze for shits and giggles.
-
what about widening stock rims? (or is that sacrilege?)
Wouldn't say its sacrilege, but these cars on 13's and you end up having to raise the rear of the tunnel as the driveshaft ends up eating it.. (well if ride height gets reduced to meet the wheels.)
I'd rather just leave the stock rims I have stock.
-
I used these guys to rechrome an RX3 rotarywagon badge 8 years or so ago, did a sweet job, but wasn't cheap!
-
Paint them lime green !
Sure, got any paint left from your wheels? When can I drop them off.
-
yeah thought about it, could have bought the ones with the charcoal centers, but silver seemed to suit better.
I'd be more inclined to paint the whole wheel bronze maybe, wait till I've got some suspension sorted.
-
Have you found some tyres for the front yet? A 175/50 has the same over all diameter as a 195/45 but I have not seen them for sale in NZ.
They look to have about the same stretch on an 8 as the 195/45's do on a 9'' as well.
Yeah all I could find in NZ was 165/50's, 175s would have been better, still not sure even those would fit under guards
So have been over at a freinds workshop fitting this arvo, was err. interesting.. Compressed air bead sealer along with me blasting air in the valve at the same time got them on..
There was bugger all clearence in the front, pretty much thought I was doomed to fail (still thinking I probably have.. lol)
But car drives and has full lock no problem.
195/45/15 at the back, 165/50/15 front.
stupidly stretched up front.
Arse is way to high in the rear, so now time to sort out some blocks, currently has reset leave a couple inches with an extra leaf in there..
un bolted the U bolts to drop the rear a bit on a jack this arvo, where i'd like it sitting
Honestly think i really need to roll the guards.. But don't want to touch the paint again. Might end up just going back to rolling on the standard wheels.
Few things till to do, suspension is next!

I might have to talk to Arrow about getting some of these ''metal sleeve insert thingys'' on a few of my wheels, no one in Hamilton knows what im talking about when Ive asked.
Might have on that bandwagon too , have some b45s in 4x114 and always thought id have to get them redrilled in between for the 4x110.
Lance is good to deal with, just asked to have them re-sloted, first set I've had done by them, they did a sweet job.
-
Looks awesome man, love the black instead of the usual polished bling in the engine bay.
-
Depends on the car I think, this family wagons guards were never very wheel freindly, don't really want to chop the guards up... You might have more room to move.
Wanted Toyo T1R's for the rear, but supplier out till end of Oct when container arrives, already all there 195/45/15's pre sold, only one pair left! So had to wait or settle for Nankangs or Hankooks, Hankooks won.
-
May I ask what size tyres you are going to run?
195's on the rear. Front is going to be the issue.
-
Wheels back from Arrow wheels, I got them to change the stud from 4x114.3 to 4x110.
They drill out and fitting a metal sleeve insert thingy. Seemed to do a pretty sweet job, $65 a wheel not to bad.
Two more tyres to pickup tomorrow, then see if these things are going to fit without tearing the guards off.

yeah that orange wagon used to be mine, was my surf hack back in the mid 90's then they started getting a bit dodge to leave at the beach, so made it shiny, rebuilt and just got on the road before the 4nrota nats back in 98.
The front end on this white wagon is the old nose cone off that orange one, had a earlier style 10a nosecone so put that on it to sell, orange one is still around, has had a blingy interior put in it now, and heaps of bits chromed, but other that that is still the same I think.
Live central ish. over a fence or two from rot808.. haha.
