  1. Cheers Camel, heaps of great info on your build thread. To be honest i dont think i will try sawp the chassis over. There are no real big advantages verses the amout of work involved. I love the shape of my crown but if it was a coupe i would consider putting more time and effort into it.

haha well buy my coupes and do the swap then :lol:

  2. Yeah it was like a 8 hour round trip from aucks to kerikeri and back. My 2 liter van was in 1st gear going up some of the hills on the way home. Made it back safetly tho. I have so much going on at the moment that i will put the project on hold for a couple of weeks. I have a couple of other cars to sell to give me some more room in the driveway.

I wonder whats involved with swapping the bodys over ? mmm that would definatly be cool. Will see what can be found on the net in regards to this

haha good luck finding anything on the net about it. best plan is to just get hold of a 60 series body pan and lay it on top of that chassis then start cutting shit. Ive had a look at doing this before. was planning on doing it to coupe, its def doable but you would want to ditch the factory rear spring towers and maybe put bags in there as they stick up heaps, think ive got a pic of 140 series chassis

  3. we got a lot of them through work. the trans are not that strong and love shitting themselves plus the transfer cases gave problems with the chain stretching and jumping teeth plus the electrics would shit themselves, the connections and the trans ecu themselves. I also worked on tons of them in canada and would never purchase one, ever. The jeeps on the other hand seemed to handle abuse etc quite well and believe me they got it over there! I rate the cherokees ay, bit hungry on gas but go real well, leather interior etc, handle pretty sweet on and off road

  4. Hey Spencer from my understanding the mid sump only came from the full chassis JZ engine crowns ? A toyota soarer only has a rear sump ? I keep getting people message me saying they have a rear sump from a Toyota soarer, but my guess is they really dont know what there talking about and actually have a rear sump ?

correct. only the crowns had mid sump, hence why they are so rare. Rear sump on the other hand is the most common as alot of the 1jzs that come in from japland have been ripped out of jzz30s

  5. JZS145 = NOT full seperate Chassis.

It shows a front, centre and rear sections.

Just let me know Model codes/Rego Numbers and i can run it though my Toyota parts catalogue.

are you sure? because there is one in the driveway at home that very much has a full chassis. Plus another one we pulled the body off last year

If the chassis in your mates shop is crown one they have the chassis number stamped in the front cross-member

    QFT.

got a couple of pics of 140 series crown shazza too FYI. Yea theres a guy in auckland who uses them as bases for ac cobra kit cars, makes a kevlar shell etc, is pretty sweet. Also very popular in the states for hot rod bases
