  1. Unreal few days. Thanks again John and everyone else who made it happen!

Rode a 250 this year. Good times. Sore bum coz DogRooter seats are horrific. Quite interesting riding the whole way to and from the ride. Would recommend. Saw a whole lot more backroad nz than I would have otherwise and picked up a lot more bike handling skills. Trusting reasonably aggressive and soft knobblies on tarmac is pretty hard to get into but they're able to be pushed fairly solidly. Nice

Always a great ride. More or less forget about whatever else is going on in the world around you and just chill and ride. Love it. Meet lots of grouse people at the places we go. Lots of laughs and comerardery.

Everything was amazing. So many good memories made.

Even the dank as fuck te araroa campsite was lush.

  2. clutch job is easy on one of these. there is usually some adjustment but it sounds like it may be past that already.

correct puller is helpful to get clutch bell off. costs about $20

carb strip and clean is a 30minjob. awesome!

Let’s be honest the group splits into multiple packs anyway. We are only riding 250s, there has been 250s before.

The main reason we are doing it is because we wanted to make a big trip of it clocking up 1000km+ on the way there and back. I’ve done cape every year on a different small (sub 140) bike every time. The only bikes in my stable suitable for it now are the trombone, which isn’t suitable as it falls to bits on gravel (Mitch can attest to this on our last gravel Hawke’s bay ride) and the next smallest is the xr250. We are all going self sufficient and camping so will be lugging a shit load more gear than everyone else, so it won’t be a dramatic difference. My XR is only happy at 90kmh on the open road anyway.

    tl;dr, quit ya girly whinging

Yeah hard ride ya sub 140cc fully self sufficient inc magnum dong bags and a flashlight then ya can cry at boys trying to make an extra adventure

    Todays stupid question,

The new cert tag thingies. Does the constabulary scan them, then get a link to a database to read the info?

What happens if you encounter the five-0 in a location where theres no mobile reception? (OOODLES of places like that) what then?

Pink sticker first, and ask questions later?

I'd say it'll be attitude based, like most dealings with cops regarding vehicles.

If there's not coverage they can't really sticker you. They'll follow ypu to somewhere that has reception
