Hmmmmmmmm, I thinks I have a problem lol. But with this I now have to sell off some other stuff so maybe I'm not insane
Newest money pit.
1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster. Originally a Canadian military car, sporting Militia green and a 3.4L straight 6 under the hood, with 3 spd on the tree and daft things such as drum brakes all round, someone obviously got bored with it and had some money burning a hole in their back pocket.
It's now sporting Pinstriping, scallops, Violet paint (as of about a year ago) and errrrrrm, a mildly warmed over 350 Chev V8 with this and that bolted on for a little bit more ..... 'response' shall we say?
Front end now held up by various Holden bits and pieces, stopping with brakes from the same family. Putting the power to the ground is the task of a TH350 Auto with more goodies attached, through a rebuilt Ford 9 Inch with LSD with F100 truck drums.
Interior is standard original Leather & Velour affair, wildcat steering wheel, couple of gauges and a shit stereo. Scum protection provided by a host of security measures, with further upgrades to come.
Needs some work here and there, but is WOF'd and Reged so I can do in my own time. I'd like to overhaul the brakes too, as they have a habit of sticking.
Oh, it's also got this thing - the previous owner called them - 'Cable Operated Header Dumps' I like that hehehehehe. Anyways, some useless pics.

Took the Zephyr to VTNZ once.
Failed on diff leak and gearbox leak (both had a little dribble around the drain plugs). Neither of which are wof failures.
Took it to another branch 20 mins later for a recheck and passed.
Didnt do anything at all. And never going there again. Got my own guy now, lets things past cause he knows we'll fix them.

I'm insured through a broker with Lumley.
Costs me $250 a year - so like $4.80 a week, limited to 3000miles/5000km

Can't see no reason why you couldnt use ya Morrie. It's not a legal requirement for it to have belts cause of the age so it's still all legal.
Inspector might have owned one ages ago and give you a break while they reminise lol

South Auckland
Hugh Munro Panelbeaters - if you can get Hugh himself to do it, he'll do a good job. Can even do original lead repairs.

Did this last Sat.
To change over my plates and have new ones allocated to old vehicle cost me $14.25

Heres a cool trick....
Mount a head unit somewhere where you wont see it and run somw wires up to the sun visor and mount the face plate on the sun visor... easily hidden and easily accessed...
Problem being it's only low voltage wiring and you get too much voltage drop so majority of the time it won't work

If you weren't in Whangerei, I'd have offered the Z lol.
Some years back, a guy at the school I was going too, hired a brand new John Deer tractor and took that to the ball.
Got some looks thats for sure.

I'm looking at importing a mid 50s yank tank from the U.S.
How much am I looking at to have it got here assuming I can get someone to load it into a container over there.
Not worried about vin costs etc, just the costs to have it landed and cleared for me to have it my possesion (so GST and MAF etc).

As per my other post that got locked cause I'm somewhat blind and tired and didn't see this......

Lookin good man. Pity I never got round to putting mags on mine. Always wanted too.
I had one of these, but mine was petrol. Few things to watch out for - they're god awful for rust in the front roof, rot out the slides etc, above the boot lid and mind way down the A pillars. Rear sunroof drive always breaks - suggest not using - cause you won't get it closed if it breaks in the open position as it's worm drive on both sides, not cable or anything. Dashboards are a pain in the ass, always causing problems with losing illumination, I have a spare one here with 117k on the clock if you need one. The diesels in these hate getting hot - intercooling is a good idea. Other thing to watch out for, in the back right hand side, about where its been crunched there's a computer. These leak all over the computer - cost me $600 last time
And judging by the pics it's had a new bumper. Limiteds had reverse sonar in the rear bumper. On the centre console to the right of the stereo there is possibly a sw with an orange spot - thats what that is.
Good luck. Let me know if you need any help with it, between me and my old man, we've had 2x super custom and a limited, across about 12 years of ownership - you pick up thin

Don't fancy ya chances on a venetian.
I been looking for one for a year and found one TM, cost me an arm and a leg too.
Trumpy looks good - friend of mine has a 2500TC and a 2500S, in 6 months, he did 2 manuals, an auto, an OD and 9 diffs
Plus side is, diff head is piece of piss to change.

holy shit
Yeah BJs was fun to wander around in, pity they had to level the place so they could build that campervan yard (or whatever the hell it is now)
Car yard now aint it? For fresh imports and shit?
I got a few bits from them, was a big shame when they shut up

I'd keep the wagon personally.
RX7 too common. Nothing compares to the corty
-
I had a Green Magnum, Tan Vinyl roof, 4 on the floor and an 1800.
Ended up getting 2nd in a demo derby by the guy who bought it off me.
-
nup, one or two broke ass mk3s though
Front brakes intact? I want a set of discs/calipers for mine, but struggling to find Mk2 ones cause it was the UK spec that got them. NZ didn't get factory fitted discs, although they were an expensive option on the last of them mk2.
