  1. So, when I was like 13 I had a tidy metallic blue 73 Corona Coupe Deluxe. Slush box with a 1700. I sold it de/rego to some guy in TuAkau who got it roadworthy again. I saw it in Pukekohe in 2001 with ZBxxxx plates and some period jAp Mags. Haven't seen it since.

anyone know if it's made it through the years?

    Cheers

  2. Ive seen that 5 axle WS cruising south from aux towards Hamptons Landfill, had some kind of waste waster tank thing on the back, looked fuckin sweet!!

Also dont have a photo but while at work the other day an amazing 5 axle freightliner tractor unit (with massive sleeper cab and huge hiab crane) came through towing a low loader trailer.

It runs between Wiri and Hampton downs carrying sludge and leech water from the landfill.

Got a pic of that Rotorua Rescue Tender And an old Beddie today too, will upload tomoz

  3. Not oldies, but just a few that I've driven - relief driver so I've seen a few. Can you tell I used to work for envirowaste? 8) Work for another waste company now - got my own truck now, although only a wee one to start. Epic funds needed to get one of these WS for example. And that old Komatsu dumper I mentioned earlier. Keep forgetting that Airport Rescue Truck, must grab one of that.

When it was new and shiny! 525hp, 18spd RR

Not so shiny  So much chrome, so damn hard to wash! Note the 3rd new WS in the reflection of the bumper. That ones auto, didnt try that one. Didnt have the dished Alcoa wheels on it either so looks a bit odd, wheels get swallowed by the guards. A month or so after this was taken it got broken into - bastards took the cheap shit philips stereo lol.

Epicness Spec Build - Another auto though, first WS Enviro got, one of the new HPMV vehicles, also had a 5 axle trailer to match. A cool $880,000! Ticketed for 64 tonne, and last I heard it just ticked 120,000km and is on the 3rd transmission.

Freshly washed frontloader - one of way too many I've driven. Crappy by comparison to my inlaws front loaders and hook truck. But best one Auckland branch had - could pack 13t of rubbish and rock the scales at 25t *cough* Ironically, the only one on the fleet without loadscales.

Epic Komatsu Dumper - Retrofitted BBC, straight pipes off the motor - hear it a goddamn million miles off.

  4. Get it road legal (big job....), extend chassis and build epic house on it. Looks so cool. It would have power steering wouldn't it?

Power steer yes, air clutch and brakes - but still heavy as all hell. Everything american in general til fairly recently is heavy in most aspects compared to the euro/jap equal.

I know where this lives now, out in the weather in South Auckland. Still looks fairly tidy though, and still in Rescue livery. Should go get a pic or two of it.

uhh.... air boosted clutch in an old k-pop? can't say you're right there.

giz pics of that rescue tender though! so sweet.

Will try get pix soon as, and I'm assuming it has an air boosted clutch, as the 76 KW that my missus uncles son in law has, is air boosted. Not a conventional though, its a cabover.

  5. When you say bread and butter do you mean your main job right now is driving the mitsi? Fun job?

I wouldn't mind doing some driving work but I only have my class 2. Oh and I dont want to get up much earlier than 8am. And I cant work Mondays.

Problem seems that everyone wants drivers with experience but I have only legally been able to drive trucks since last year even though I have driven extensively about Europe in a 7 tonne truck (yeah I know that's not big at all but still experience eh)

I might have to inquire some more...

I'm an owner driver, so I own the truck. I enjoy my job greatly, and even though the mitsi is only a class 2 truck, I can drive anything on the road.

I got lucky with the experience thing, my inlaws run 3 mitsis (2x 6 wheelers, 1x 8 wheeler) for a recycling company, so I had the contacts to get me a foot in the door.

If you've had your class 2 for 6 months, go for your class 4, then try get a class 2 job. Gets you experience to work up the ladder. I'll try get pics of my truck if anyone is interested, it's actually clean and shiny cause the company I contract to, had it repainted in their new colours about 3 months ago - although it won't last long, my line of work is pretty paint and equipment abusive.

I sat in a Kwoppa today.

Theres a guy whos been around some years, drives an 03 KW Aerodyne, done well over a million and still going. Currently contracts to Halls, was Brent Marsh Ref, Then AFLogistics, runs with the plate KWOPPA.

I hope one day to get an old girl for a daily, med sized truck so costs dont get too sky high. Currently my bread and butter comes from my 07 Mitsi Fighter though. Should grab a pic of the old Terex (I think) quarry truck we have in the other yard if its still up there.

My uncle in law used to work for Doughtys in Wiri for years and years, back when they had the old colours and a fleet of Leaders. Should see what pics he has floating around - must have a few - hes been in trucks his whole damn life.

  7. Cool bowtie man.

    Hotties must go though!

Yeah, can't say I'm a huge fan of the hotties. Finding replacements could be difficult though. Holden stud pattern on the front, and ford on the rear. Would probably have to go for new, but dunno what.

    All in good time though.

  8. very cool. rhd even better. military spec again?

I'd have liked a left hook, but never mind. Doubt I'll militise it, the purple is growing on me, plus it makes it stand out for deaf people who can't hear it 3 miles away.

Pretty sure ive seen this in the sunny city of papakura.

Awesome car dude. Is this the oldest ride on oldschool?

It's lived down south for the past 21 years, only been around South Aucks since New Years, so if it was snce then, it was probably me.
