  1. My ferry gets in at around 1pm in welly. If anyone is going around then, will offer some cash for a ride, cheers
  2. You just answered my question, cheers.
  3. It's a long shot, but noone happens to be travelling fromwellington to palmy north next sat (15th nov) by any chance do they? Have to get from the ferry to palmy to pick up a van. Failing that, what would be the cheapest way to get to palmy from ppl in the know?
  4. Right long story short, capri started, timing was out, mean sorted. Leave it a couple days and go to start it again and it doesn't start. Check everything, even spark plugs, and I see spark. Took it to the auto sparky to take a look, turns out the spark plugs have shorted out apparently, hardly ever happens he said, and it's when the spark, sparks off to the side of the electrode. Ok so replace the spark plugs, bang, she fires up no problem. Try again next day, sweet started again no problem. Try it a week later, and it's just turning over again and not starting. I haven't tried putting yet more plugs in it yet to confirm they shorted out gain or whatever but that's what it must be. So question is, does anyone know why it's doing this? engine is running really rich at the moment, I'm hoping that is probably the reason? Motor is a 2L efi turb pinto
  5. Alright! So 2 years, 23 days after I pulled the old motor out to do a "couple month conversion" it's fired into life again. It's been so long, and now hearing it under the chatter of forged pistons and the sucking of a turbo is a dream finally come true Unfortunatly it has no driveshaft just yet. Thinking I may have the driveshaft lengthened to suit the stock diff and get it tuned up on that and running because I don't have the money to get a custom hilux one made up yet. Here's a really shit video to prove it's going, tried capturing the blow off valve hissing but digi cam was to average. It's running super rich but that will obviously be taken care of when it gets tuned.

Sweet so it started! Was a timing issue. However that was yesterday..had it all running etc, was rough but good it was going, went to start it up today and now it's just turning over and not starting at all again grr.. it's getting pre-ignition sort of pop occasionally but that's about it, any suggestions what it might be? Took spark plugs out and they are soaked in fuel, so dried them off, took fuse out for fuel pumps and just wound it over to try get rid of excess fuel in the cylinders, pumps back and but still a no go.

Didn't realise there was more posts here. Sweet cheers nismo capri for those intructions, I'll give it a crack this weekend!

Yea no shit mate. I've literally done them all now and I still can't get it. Hoping it's just something to do with the computer that's any easy fix. It'll go, just not yet. Appreciate all the help you guys have givin and I got more out of it than when I began but I'm think I'm getting someone to have a look at it now.

Na not sorted, really pissed off. Hopefully going to get the whizz round that knows about links etc. That'll be in a couple weeks when I get back to town from work though.

swapped leads over and tried with a battery out of my old mans car (capri stays at parents garage atm). Didn't clean the plugs though. It didn't start again Thing is, it's being tried on battery's with mint charge, but it's failing to turn over that hard, it's like it's really tight or something. It gives to average turns overs then it sort of stops then it starts turning over again but sounds like it's really struggling to do so and I know these battery's are all good charge wise to hmm.

Don't have a tuning shop here in Blenheim unfortunatly, however the guy here at the auto sparkys is really onto it with computers etc for basic tuning etc. Unsure about the cam timing.. Yea just checked the firing order and that's correct as well, It's so damn close and I want to start it myself rather than a shop have to do it EDIT, check the firing order and it was 1-4-3-2, so two round the wrong way, enough to stop it starting? Must try it now

Well I got a mate to turn over the the crank pulley with a socket and i plugged up a spark plug hole with a finger tight and then waited till you feel it pushing and when you take your finger out a whole lot of air burst out. Seems logical enough to work out the compression stroke? I could actually feel one of the valves pushing against my finger to while it was in there. eke_zetec_RWD, the ecu etc bit seems a bit beyond my know how tbh. May have to take it to a auto sparky and get him to sort it out if it's possibly something to do with the ecu.

    Injectors

But wouldn't that mean it's not on the compression stroke?

    Injectors

Ok so heres the deal... Swapped the inlet and return lines around now the injectors are definatly spraying as they should be. Got a few backfires out of it but it didn't actually start. Did the timing on it by getting the number 1 piston at TDC and then turning the dizzy untill it pointed at the number 1 lead on the compression stroke. Still didn't help the starting factor, got a few bangs out the exhaust but still no actual firing. Anyone have anymore ideas/maybe it the computer?

He knew it was injected. He had messed a couple things up actually that I was getting done so I took it off them and went back to sorting it out myself, kinda scary when you trust people that are supposed to be ace at their job? I get a new injector seal tomorrow that I lost so if it starts I'll update my project thread ha

    Injectors

Oh ffs!! I even asked a mechanic about this and he said it went through the regulator first so took his word for it. Damn I feel stupid as now, just have to swap the return and inlet lines around and technically should be sweet b the sounds of it..fuck
  17. Josh

    Injectors

Yea it's the same regulator as what you gave me. Ok just remembered, when I was first trying to fire it up and it wasn't firing, we pulled the return off and no fuel coming out, pulled the inlet off and fuel pissed out, so thought it must be the regulator. Pulled the regulator off and then put it back on and it had fuel then, possibly it's not letting enough through? I'm thinking that or wiring. I have no time at the moment to check anything as I'm always working out of town lately but as soon as I do then one of the suggestions made here will work.
  18. Josh

    Injectors

Yea pissing out fuel through the return.. Havn't checked impendance on them though, next on list I guess assuming I do have fuel pressure, coz I'm 90% sure I do..
  19. Josh

    Injectors

If it did happen to be the fuel pressure, how do you get it higher? Also I realise the o2 sensor isn't connected up, could this be a cause to the prob at all?
  20. Josh

    Injectors

Yea there should be a base tune as the motor was running with that ecu and those injectors. The injectors have been dormant probably over 1 and a half years now. Might send them away to get them cleaned then if it has worked for someone here. Where did you send them? Keen to try your idea Nismo, can just pull the fuse for the pumps, don't have a spare dizzy on me though, have to see if someone has a spare here. Haven't heard them clicking, but probably just drowned by the turning over of the engine, mind you they have been squirting but at really really lame rate. I'll start trying the ideas tomorrow hopefully
  21. Josh

    Injectors

Havent checked the pressure, will look into that and hopefully eliminate that to. And retep it's running the low pressure pump as a lift pump for the surge tank and a 450hp external pump after that to the fuel rail. So pretty sure it's getting enough pressure but will check when I get a chance, cheers.
  22. Josh

    Injectors

Yea pump is all sweet and squirting loads of fuel through the rail but the injectors just don't seem to be taking it for some reason
  23. Josh

    Injectors

Ok so Ive been tried starting the capri up (efi turbo pinto) and it wouldn't start. Narrowed down the problem and the injectors aren't squirting like they should be, they are more or less just dribbling out fuel and one isn't even firing anything out. So blew the injectors with a compressor etc tried again and it won't fire. Could it be the computer needs adjustment to make them fire or the injectors buggered? Anyone else come across this prob/any ideas to try? Caught fire this arvo after turning it over and had no fire extiungusher so chucked water over it to get it out and water = down the injector holes into the bores. Took the plugs out and sprayed crc and just cranked it over to push the water out, is this sufficent enough to save it? Shit I'm having some shit luck with it at the moment..
