  1. ohms is like, how much power it sucks out of something

    so if you make your sub 1ohm, and 1ohm load on the amp, its gonna suck more power then if it was 4ohm

    v

    I R

    voltage = current x resistance

    to find resistance = voltage divided by current

  2. underpowering a sub will not cause it to wreck the voice coils, as if it did every time you turned the volume down it would damage the sub

    damage results from an underpowered amp being run to its limit to try and put enough power into the sub,

    distortion, is where damage happens. when an amp clips, it puts out more power and this will damage a coil. Although some of the top spl competers will do this to get the last little bit of spl out of there cars. its the risk you take

    happy jerm :3some:

  3. False

    The worst thing for a speaker is to underpower it

    false you are. If a speaker was damaged each time it didnt have much power going to it, it would blow up each time you turned the volume down. You could put 70wrms into a sub and it would be fine, as long as you were sensible, had a well set gain and never thrashed the sub into clipping.

    eat your words.
