Wow
Must really get around to reading that edition, its been lying around my room for the past month
Congratulations

They were an NZ specific thing, probably why you dont know what they are
Basically a factory 120Y sedan with Twin dellortoes, hot cam, extractors, jellybean mags, high back seats, badges and side stripes.
They made 500 of them to homologate them for motorsport.
Did a similar thing for the 1200 as well

an MGA twin cam ( HOW RARE !? )
They made just over 2000 twin cams but ive never seen one. Even pushrod MGAs are rare enough now, more so than the earlier T series cars
My dad has owned
2 Datsun 120Y SSS's from new
2 1930s OHC MG J2s
2 1950s MG TFs
3 1971 MGBGTs
1 1973 MGBGTV8
Wish he still had the V8 and the second SSS now. Both beasty cars that I remember well but he sold before I was old enough to drive

Its debatable. They can still be done to look ok though
See its cars like this that cause problems, thats why you cant say anything built before 19xx is old school
Colt is nicer though

Im not sure if its an S600 or not. They made S500, S600 and S800 where the different numbers are the cc. I dont know enough about them to know which is which without looking at the engine
That one is in Aussie, its fitted with a supercharged 2L Fiat twin cam. Its also on the Serious Performance 6 DVD (Highly reccomended, big SR20 datsun feature too).
Stock theyre nice too, 600cc. Rev their heads off, basically a motorcycle engine. But about the same speed as a 1300cc triumph or MG from the same era. Only problem with them is the motors last hardly any ks and cost a fortune to rebuild.

Im here but I dont really count
Ive found its better to have a meet in someones home town rather than meeting in a random place halfway in between where noone knows anything about it

no hondas coz there just gay
Can you seriously tell me this isnt old school?
You cant have a blanket definition, its gotta be done on a case by case definition. Much the same as the "What is a sports car?" argument thats been going on even longer.
Theres a few things that somepeople would include that I wouldnt though, such as AE86, KE70, Mk1 MR2's, any FWD 323's etc
generally separate bumpers, carburetors, steel wheels etc is a good rule of thumb, but thats at best
-
I like the old shape MR2's. Back when I was at school about 1997 a mate of mine had a black one with 20% tints, looked very nice, till he spun it and wrote off both ends
To me though its not old school. Fuel injected, DOHC, decent brakes and factory performance, not even close to having chrome bumpers.
Obviously others disagree with me though
Its still older than my current car

Theres not a certain year it starts.
I consider it to be a car that from the factory with carbs and chrome bumpers. although there may be certain exceptions like american cars lost their chrome bumpers earlier so can be included without it.
AE86 is debatable to me but if it is it would definately be the last one.
RWD is definately a plus too but there are some old school FWD rides, just the classification ends earlier. KE70 is but 85 prelude or FXGT isnt

Have you thought about moving to a better neighbourhood?

British cars are supposed to leak oil, its so you know theres still some in it
