One wheel on footpath and getting too far from the road?
-
First time I've seen the list of cars.
I find it odd my 2000 Lotus is apparently safer than a brand new one. Its also safer than a brand new MX5 but less safe than one from 1999.

Hi Ryan
-
Has an L16 ? engine i think and manual box.
Should be an L18 unless its been changed at some point which would seem an unusual conversion as L18s havn't been expensive any time recently.

A white car can't clash with a white dress. For example my wedding where they are different colours and it doesn't matter:
I'd tell the photographer he does what the groom wants or they get a new photographer

I have the opposite issue, driveway is above the garage. Thinking of putting a hook in the driveway so I can use a winch to get non running cars outside for certain tasks/working in the sun.

Manual? If auto you're dead to me.
Of course, 6 speed. That's the main reason I bought one instead of a 540i

Not too much of an update to this. I fixed the mirror from the post above and upgraded to better toelinks. Other than that I've now done 5,000ks pretty trouble free in 18 months so its not getting much use but I expected that.
In other news I decided my Peugeot wasn't too practical due to my house/trailer/dog owning status so I've just bought this:
2004 VZ Commodore SS. 5.7l LS1 with 250kw or maybe a little bit more due to a Remus exhaust. Is quite different to anything I've ever owned before but its a bit of a laugh so far.

Would be keen on a ride. Not sure I could be bothered walking that far.

Sullivans Dam? Been awhile since I've explored near Dunedin
-
Would be keen to enter but no way my clutch would survive it so maybe another future event.

I know theres a similar one here already but it deserves to be in here twice

These were pretty common in the UK and the biggest complaint about them seemed to be that the hoods ALWAYS leak and badly. Not too bad if you are caught out in a shower, but if left outside during a downpour you can expect a very very wet interior.
my $0.02
Actually that reminds me. The problem is with the design around the windows. On my parents car which had sub 50ks therefore an almost new hood it doesn't come down the side windows nearly as far as an MX5 one which is fine as long as you park the car on dead level ground. If you park in with one side higher than the other the high side will get a very wet seat. I don't recall any issues when it was actually being driven.

My parents had one from about 5 years old to 9 years old. The only major issues they had are the water pump packed up twice (!) and the jap import ones have their alarms on the same frequency as Vodafone Cell phones so in some areas you cant get the imobiliser off until you tow the car a k down the road (the imobiliser is set with the key or remote but only removed with the remote so you can't not use it unless you don't lock it. AFAIK you can now fix this for a few hundred by changing the frequency of the car.
Mechanically they're not as bad as they're rumoured. Its the same running gear as my Lotus and touch wood I've had no trouble with that. The difference is with the Lotus I can open the back and see the engine. With an F you have to go in through the wheel arch or dismantle the hood so it hinges up towards the windscreen, neither is convenient or cheap if you're paying someone to do anything.

there is merit in that (GTT Caldina) suggestion. small 2l class car. are they comfortable on the 660km run?
my impression is they're like an ST205 GT-Four celica in a wagon body?
Thought about one of these myself till I found they were only available in Auto.

Saw this this morning. Being followed by an RX30 on Bunny street. Looks good.

Wonder what impact it'll have on values. eg I own a car and a motorbike that are newer than 1 Jan 2000 but an identical version exists registered in 1999, if I was a random person who supported annual inspections (I don't) I'd be prepared to pay slightly more to buy a vehicle that had annual inspections.
Wonder if the 1 January 2000 aspect will be rolled forward from time to time, surely the arguments being raised now about 2000 cars being new can't apply for too much longer.

Iv'e always liked these. Known a couple of people with them. Though they seem very fussy with rider height, theres only a couple of inch window where you can reach the ground but get comfortable/see the instruments without having to look through the screen.
Glad to hear you've got it sorted.

We probably shouldn't take this thread any further offtopic but just one last post from me on this.
I will always tell a prospective purchaser everything I know about a car I'm selling but I see no obligation to hire a mechanic to find out anything I'm not aware of. Having a pre-purchase inspection doesn't make my car more valuable or easier to sell. My sole reason for wanting the knowledge was to remove any information asymmetry particularly as in this case the buyer wasn't local so I wouldn't get to see the report at all during negotiations. I didn't even care if I didn't see the report just a couple of words about whether there was anything major wrong with etc would have been sufficient.
I can see where your coming from and its the same view Page had with me too but I consider it poor customer service. I have no other reason to dislike them and I could have easily said on here to stay away from them without further reason which may have held more weight. But if anyone else reading this agrees with me they can make an informed choice.

When they make that a one way road it'll be brilliant. As it is now I'm going to try never to drive it again. Even doing 10kmh it feels deadly as people come around blind corners at 70 odd kmh completely on your side of the road.
