The body is pretty much mint so I'm going to leave it in its poo brown glory, there are just a couple of spots of rust that could use a looking at. Cancer nooo! Doing the engine swap myself (+mates thanks guys!) has relly made me appreciate what goes into some people's projects, I can't wait to run it in!

I inherited this car off my grandma with 112,000 km on the clock. The car has been in the family since new, I'm the 3rd owner (originally owned by my great grandfather).
At this stage the mods are pretty mild, but it is awaiting an engine swap.
2.25" Exhaust with a resonator and a 4" Dytech Dumper
13" ROH Minilites with Cooper Cobra 205/60/R13's
Lowered x inches on blocks, custom springs and Munroe GT gas shocks
Alarm/Keyless Entry/Central Locking/Tints/Retractable front seatbelts
Crappy stereo (With custom parcel tray for the speakers)
Non Monster Auto Meter tacho installed in dash
I've got an 18RGEU getting honed, rings, new bearings, head shaved, port matched, 4 angle valve grind and some lumpier cams to compliment the extractors with freshly rebuilt twin 40mm Mikuni-Solex side-draughts to replace the EFI. It's going in late June (fingers crossed!).
Planed mods are basically a W50 (might save a few bucks gas...) a diff conversion and to fix annoying noise from left rear wheel! Anyone who's seen/been in it knows how mint the interior is, can't beat granny cars I guess

$fucktonne at a guess... My 40mm Mikuni/Solex's were ~200 on the manifold then $350 to be rebuilt, does cleaned and tuned mean rebuilt? Who knows... Mine will need tuning too I think. Just get efi man, it'll shit on Leon's and will be easier to boot!

Nice thread necromancy! AFAIK you can use the flat top pistons with a head swap, they just give you a way low comp ratio, better for turbocharging. In any case I've sourced an 18RGEU sans the EFI gear, some 40mm Mikuni-Solex carbs and am in the process of getting it all refreshed and into my car.

The oil should come up to the bottom of the plug hole when the diff is level. Just make sure it's not in the back of a Legacy, it should leak less than your grandad

Haha nice,the exact same way I did it, although I drove with one block only and it really dodgily loose for a day after running out of time before work! The shock shop in Newmarket (its not a shock shop really but used to be) beside MacMillan BMW was really good for lowering the front, went through 2 sets of lower springs then custom made some for the same price, the car is now 3" (maybe more) lower and rides only a touch firmer that you'd expect, I'd definately recomend them.

The Starion had a form of fuel injection, can't remember what it's called at the moment.
ECI, Electronically Controlled Injection, which was basically one point EFI, "ECI Multi" was/is Mitzi's name for multi point EFI

Err... Notice you have a feeckin turbo jamming up your exhaust!!! The reso is about 18" long. Maybe it isn't so bad, I dunno, it's bassy as, no tin at all really. I'll give it a go for a few days, but damn if its bad at 100kms I'm changing it cause I gotta drive all over the country this holidays, then back to otago...

2.25" off the drop pipe, one resonator, one straight thru dytech muffler with a 4" dump tip.
So, what am I gonna do? Under load (ie the foot is down more than a teensy bit) it's loud as fu*k, no way the piggys will stay off me. Another resonator? A proper muffler in there somewhere? It's bassy as though

God damn my car is taking ages.. They have gone through 3 sets of springs and have decided to get some made up, at no extra cost to me (haha they're probably cheaper!). The car looks bad ass as it is however. Tomorrow it's going in to get the exhaust done, Dytech dumper and a resonator and 2.25" pipes. Is this gonna be loud as illegal what?
