Hi Tortron, thanks for your input. This makes a lot of sense.

Last Xmas I brought an AccuSpark stealth points replacement unit from a chap in Henderson from trademe.
This was for my 1986 Corolla with 2e engine, nippondenso anticlockwise dizzy.
All good up to the fitting of the reluctor/trigger ring which doesn't seat down fully making the rotor arm too high which won't let the cap fit.
I was unable to return it as the sellers ad firmly put the responsibility on the buyer to buy the right part.
I was able to test this reluctor/trigger ring fitting on a K series clockwise dizzy and the same problem.
I thought oh well bad luck and put the points back in and drove on.
Has anyone else had this experience with poor fitting gear like this?
I just can't see why a new and supposed correct part would need modding to fit.
Cheers

My first car experience solo was in my Dads 66 Hillman Super Minx.
1725 and floor change, sporty. Haha.

Hi Guys, our long time mechanic Mark at Chester Brown Motors in Otahuhu has sold his business and finished up. This leaves us looking for an honest qualified mechanic to work on our older cars.
We are running a 91 Laser and 86 Corolla.
Can anyone recommend anyone who meets this criteria. Onehunga, Mangere, Otahuhu, Manukau area
The members help is much appreciated.
Cheers Mark
