  1. Yeah man, not the happiest camper right now. But gotta raise funds to see the daughter overseas, family comes first, all that jazz. Can always buy another cub. Whomever gets this lot will get an epic deal. Should have pictures up tonight.

  2. May have to put this up for sale for a very regretful. Live rego/plate in my name. Keep an eye out for a post in the next few days in the FS section. Along with the v50, new owner would get first option on all parts when they arrive from Thailand. OS members get first dibs before it heads on tardme. Keeping the fs50.

This would include the rims I posted a wee while back. Pretty much all parts I have laying around.

  4. So, the boss bought a Scomadi 50 and I had to move it last night, so here's some words about it. Dunno if anyone here has read much about the whole birth of the brand etc, but it's a decent story beginning with 2 UK blokes and crowdfunding etc.

It definitely looks the part, that's for sure. Has the standard GY6 type 50 that seems to be common place on a few newer scoot's these days. It's pretty hefty to be honest, but still manages to pull a solid 60kph with me on it. Will do more downhill with wind! Has an 11L tank which makes the range pretty decent too. But not really any storage, apart from a weird front glovebox compartment type thing.

Bad points: The speedo has condensation after one time in the rain, dunno if that's common place, but apparently the dealer has lodged a warranty claim, will be interesting to see how that goes, and the support behind the brand.

Good points: Front disc stops the beast very quick. The front shock set up seems to be pretty decent too. Speedo still works, and records highest top speed and a couple of other things, all digital including the fuel gauge.

All in all, not bad for a Chinese built scoot with euro roots. Worth the $2***ish brand new over one of the more well known jap brands? Not for me, I'd rather put that amount to something a little older. But I've seen a few around Tauranga, even in the 125cc spec. So they seem to have their place.

  5. Cheers mate, was contemplating mocking up a small extension mount to stretch it out a bit, just gotta play with the loom and see how long it is first, don't wanna make anything harder than it needs to be.

Thanks for the heads up too! Might be using the stock air box for now, but won't know for a wee while. I can get that tank etc boxed up and sent out this week no problems. I'll PM ya.

  6. Today I found time to strip the fs50, not a difficult job.

Found an old WOF tag deep inside the frame amongst a bunch of old crud and oil:

The old manufacturers tag which has been painted over at some point:

Off to wash world for a quick degrease and wash:

Woooo, finally can see inside the frame, she's in not to bad shape. I can thank the oil build up there for that I think:

    Post wash:

Aaaand finally she's up on the meat hook:

Ready for a bit of a sand, paint and then time to mock mount the new heart!

  7. Yeah bro I can put them to good use for sure!

Are you still going to run a pod filter on this?

Let me know if you need any other bits too.

I'll give that variator a clean up and post a pic for you later.

I'm not sure on the pod filter now I'll be using the new engine, but it's still an option.

No doubt there will be a few parts I'll need shortly but I'll cross that bridge when it comes. Thanks for that mate. I'll sort out postage for you this coming week hopefully.

  8. Had 5 minutes spare for the first time this week, gave her the degreaser/hose treatment. Still a decent way to go, but much better than before:

Hoping to find some time on Sunday to get stuck into mocking up with the fs50 before hitting the engine head on.

  9. Sorted mate, I'll get them off and drained this week/weekend and get to you through PM for your details. I'll take any extra parts I can get at the moment, so that sounds awesome. Cheers Raizer. Following your build with interest.

  10. Looks good to me, nothing a bit of brute force can't sort out surely. Let me know if you're keen at all on the tanks and seat at all, I'm not gonna be using them. No hassle to get them your way. No $$$ necessary. Can send more photos if needed.

  11. Absolutely mate, sounds good. As you say, I won't really be using any of the frame or panels, or the seat/storage compartment. It's pretty massive. Will get it cleaned off during the week and see where I'm at.

Cheers Raizer! Will probably require your expertise as time wears on!

  12. Yup that's the one. Plastics are mostly there. Front end and foot well etc. None from the back though. I have the seat and storage compartment too. Possibly after a rear wheel myself  now as this one was already taken.

  13. Introducing old mate AZ50:

    And the barely used engine:

    And again:

Here's to some progress. Picked up this pretty gutted AZ50 for $120 and she'll be the new power plant for the FS50. Should be a fun little project now it has some momentum. Will still hang on to the old 2 speed fs50 engine and hopefully give it an overhaul one day. But with this beast available so cheap, and being a Suzuki, I couldn't help but want to mix old and new.

It won't be everyone's cup of tea. But here's to 12v and moooaaarrr poooowaaaar.

  14. I've just had it up to 35MPH indicated n the speedo, so up around that mark. It's a cool little gear box on it.

The wheels are similar in style to the Chaly. But as it's not chain driven I think i'd run into a few problems. I'll be running with the standard rims. They're off now and ready to be cleaned up before I send them to the powder coaters.

Just bought a pair of Michelin S1's and some white walls, so we'll see how the shipping fairies work out over the holiday period. Gone up a size, originally had 2.75 front and 3.00 rear. Now it will have 3.00 front and 3.50 rear.

    michelin-s1_tyre_large.png

Here's where I found the white walls:  http://ebay.to/1NTCSgx

  15. She'll be bought back to life and made into her own, but nothing will be chopped. The parts for this model are a bit more difficult than it's cousins, not sure why.

It does have an epic 2 speed auto box, accelerates smoothly then at about 25/30kph there is a small lull and it suddenly zooms off chasing the late 40's.

    Shopping list at present:

    Filter: http://bit.ly/1IR6j2i

There is another young dude around here who had one up for sale for about $550, but he's convinced on keeping it now. So probably would need a few more Benjamins to pry it off him. Decent plastics, yellow, rego'd.
  16. Cheers man! This was just in the local one for Tauranga. Haven't stumbled upon any decent scooter groups yet as far as parts and selling/sharing is concerned.

Been looking at expansion chambers, a new shorter rear shock and a nice filter from Aliexpress. Will see how much fun can be had on a summer budget!
