Ah awesome! That's so cool. My best mate growing up, Kane used to race me on this when I had an newer SJ50 as my first form of transport. This has been stored since forever ago and we left over seas in 2013 to Thailand. (Got the moped bug there). Long story short, I came home, he still hasn't and Gary needed to disappear from where he was being stored.
Will have a full "get running" attempt this weekend.

Introducing, Gary:
Ohhhhhhhh my. What a lucky man I am!
She's been sitting for the better part of 6/7 years, but she has been taken care of before being put up to rest.
So!
Welcome to Gary, which is also in the Suzuki F family. This is a huuuuge nostalgia throw back for me as my first ever moped was a snapped, and then welded together FA50 when I was about 12. The parents got it for my birthday from my Uncles engineering shop in Katikati, whom used it for their old yearly scooter race in the paddock. (sadly ended many years back).
Everything about this FA is so mint! Sure, new indicators and a spring for the stand, but I'm thinking about leaving it a bit ratty.
I have the old 2 speed FS50 engine just sitting here still, might pull it apart, swap some parts from the mint FA over and have me a 2 speed FA50, complete with small rear wheel. (Chopper anyone?) A workmate gave me an old pocket bike exhaust he had laying around which could be some fun to use on the franken fiddy. Otherwise I have another chamber exactly the same as the blue Ali Express one, bar a missing flange.
A couple of photos below of the exhaust held in place:

Not an update for this as such. But I've had an awesome idea to make a small wheel FA-50 using the original engine from the FS-50. Today I just got offered an FA-50 named Gary.
So expect another horrendously slow paced thread to start up soon.

Well, it's been forever but this has finally come back up in the priority list with spring already here. I'll cut to the chase with photos:
Got a new aliexpress exhaust finally and it bolted straight on. Debating on whether to change the can's colour but all the paint will be sorted later.
The new 310mm shock came after trial and error with another one. Would possibly like it lower later down the track, but the shock is set quite hard at the moment so that might change. Still much lower with me on it. Airfilter isn't final and is just to fill in space for now. I do have the original.
Did a 5 minute mock up with the rear carrier and combi brake/indicator LED light, not sure if I'll stick with this at the moment, but the plate holder is a nice touch.
I still love the front light set up, aiming to stick with it. The front light is a combi indicator/headlight. The horns are my new favourite part. They are gonna be there no matter what. I've had them laying around for a while and with the new engine being 12v it's the perfect excuse to use them
I will be using these tyres, white walls and also gonna sand blast and powder coat the rims that are on it now. Black wins as their colour choice. Sticking with the original speedo/handle bar cluster too.
Aaaaaand one final close up of all her best bits.- 3

Oh now we're talking. I have that Ali Express exhaust. But chopped the mounting point off for the old engine and can't find the bloody thing now. Having a real exhaust could work wonders. The shock is alright. Not sure how much pressure it has, but it's a little adjustable and looks the part at least. Only tested a little and such. FOC as usual mate.

It's got a couple of scratches on it where it mounts up the top. But it's yours if you want it mate. I'll send it when I can.

Just bought a new 320mm shock. The photo posted before was if it was 340mm. Combined with my weight etc it should still sit pretty low!

Agreed, but at the height before she barely had room for the exhaust to bolt onto the head. Once I'm sitting on it, it goes right down again. With the fuel tank, oil tank and seat on she'll be as low as can be.

New ride height sorted. Laser cut mounts sorted. Just gotta tidy up the bolts and some tube spacers. Gotta do a new shock hunt on Aliexpress now. Onwards and upwards, literally

Mock me up baby.
The LED mini-bar doesn't touch even with my full weight on the front. Booonus.- 2

Stole a metre ruler. Played around and made a light bar mount. Need to shorten it up. Not bad for an hours play time..

Yeah absolutely, motor is a bit low at the moment, will rectify that in due course. The part of my brain that makes all the bad calls is telling me to get the front shocks shortened. Don't really know how feasible that is, will do final mocks etc before that even becomes a possibility though.
Love the stretched FA!- 1

Weeeew, finally got some mocking on the go.
But first, needed to do a top notch job at securing the wiring for the indicators in the headlight. They were barely attached when it arrived from Ali:
Then the engine mounting came. Original engine just mounted with a bolt straight through the frame but the new engine had a bracket in-between itself and the frame. A bit of grinding, and it fits pretty well. Still gotta shorten the bracket, weld it up for strength and mount some new tabs so it can be secured in 2 places and hard mounted. See below:
It will end up being mounted straight up and down as opposed the angle in the below picture.
First moments of Moped resemblance:
And here's a clearer view, gotta get some new tabs laser cut and then will keep on keeping on from there.- 3

Welp. Raizer is the boss man. Was wheelie stoked when this arrived today!
Here's some real life photos of the aliexpress stuff to give ya an idea on sizes.
More solid than expected for both of them. Tail light is bigger than imagined, which is actually a good thing. Gonna play with the frame and engine over the weekend.- 2

Neeed my scoot ready. Come on Ali express. It's legal now, but in pieces. I'd travel from TGA for this!

That's loooooose! Love it man. Definitely some progress there.

Noiiiiiiiiice. Was riding a red one in Thailand when I was there. Loved it. Locals all thought I was a bloody maniac though. Can't wait to see what becomes of it.

Just need the right VTNZ. Needs to have been in the system before. Never done it with anything that hasn't previously been registered and then lapsed.

Myth-busting the non-believers since ages ago.

Yeah I'll be running a different engine altogether, but in my hunt for LED stuff I've found that there seems to be plenty of 6v options advertised on Aliexpress, never tried them but it could be your best bet.

Slowly getting money/time for this bike. Rattle cans getting mixed up for the same colour, have chosen a headlight and tail light from Aliexpress too. They'll be here eventually. Hopefully paint can be sorted before then.
Trying to make it as clean as possible, nothing jutting out etc. Will see how it goes legalities-wise, but I have couple of (legal) tricks up my sleeve.
Planning on putting the tiny LED bar behind the headlight and pointing angled down, helping with the illumination. Will try it with a separate switch from everything else. Anyway, until the next time.

Went to a mates and found half a bottle of gear oil, so I came home and changed it:
Ended up with this coming out of the old oil:
Also found another reason why she wasn't a first pop kinda girl:
Also tidied up the carb a little and put it back. Now I'm just waiting for the weekend!
