  1. Hey guys,

have recently got my hands on a stock standard mk1 cortina 1500. It seems to be having problems with the starter motor not engaging the flywheel. It’s a Lucas starter motor, inertia type. I’ve tested it and oiled it up, works fine. But as soon as I bolt it back up it spins and grinds… the flywheel felt in good condition…

im not to sure what else to do, any suggestions and ideas welcome please.

  2. Woke up excited today to boost down to R J Patterson for some paint...they were shut!!! So I stopped in at supercheap, scored me some enamel paint. Was good enough for what I wanted. But I was hoping it was darker than what it turned out... Now ive got an on point crip blue fr50 haha but looks mean

Hopefully tonight Ill do the forks and start chucking this bitch back together

Also interested in FR80 engines! If anyone has one?

  3. ha! I shouldve made a build thread - didnt think of it at the time. I will slap some photos up one day soon. It was so damn easy. smashed it all together in a couple of days. It all slipped in nicely - the chain and sprockets were all perfect also - ratio is decent aswell.

Keep your eyes peeled for an A50 thread, Ill be doing some work on her soon, bit of tuning etc.

FR50 is creeping along nicely. Just more paint stripping and buffing. This weekend ill lay down some primer. I noticed a few people have 80cc in their FR50. How is this possible? is there a kit you can buy? or is it an FR80 engine?

  4. Yo,

Yeah man, chuffed with the bikes! cant wait to get it back together and go for a burn. Since ive got my a50 modded i will just rebuild the fr50 to orignal. I done a bit of buffing tonight on the frame. will primer and paint on the weekend hopefully. Unsure what colour yet, was thinking silver or cream and have the covers white along with the leg shield.

I will paint and assemble as i go, instead of having 1 million parts everywhere.

Chucked a few photos up of the a50. Goes like a cut cat!! but i need to sort out carby. Currently it is pointing into the frame cavity. I need to make a 90deg elbow to have it out the side with a suitable filter. Its a bitch to start sometimes, so a bit more tuning should sort that. RM80 all day!

  5. paint stipper - best shit known to man!

I was going to get this sandblasted. But id have to have the whole bike ready at once.... I have adhd, so i aint got time for that!  So on went a quick layer on paint stripper. Ill let this do its magic until i can find some time to water blast and buff. It comes off so damn easy, cant beleive it. Leaves it with a nice finish - perhaps a bit better than blasting?

    coming along nicely!

i finally figured out how to upload photos - im a bloody amateur.

Anyway.... A few people probably recognise these animals! the blue one was running and has all parts, just a tad worse for wear. the gray one is in 60% completion and is pretty straight. The Gray one now has a new home

Today I stripped the frame right back. Gave her one last ride before I break her down.

few rusty bolts, but all came out easily.
First plans are to get it to the sand blasters and remove the rust. I still need to strip back the front forks and rear arms. but all in a days work - coming together nicely

  7. Hey guys,

Finally got my hands on an fr50! I love these old suzuki steppys. So I'll be doing a restoration/rebuild on this bad boy! It's ok good nick, plates are dead but hopefully that isn't too much of a problem! Stay tuned

  8. Hey guys,

I have just put an Rm80 engine my A50. But I dont have to much experience with wiring...

Basically, I have no idea If my Rm80 2stroke engine will have enough grunt to power my lights. Its putting out 12V currently. My plan is  to resist that down to 6V with LED bulbs, Does anyone know if this is possible or will it effect the coil capabilities and take some power away from the spark plug?

Is it easier for me to have a separate wiring system to a battery I have to recharge with a battery charger?

Be great if someone can shed some light -

    Cheers

  9. Hey guys,

Have run into a bit of a problem today. In my cortina it is running some 2" lowering blocks. Along with that my springs are pretty much buggered so I decided to rip it all out and get Bellamy and east to make me some more. without even thinking, I unbolted, cut, drunk beer and removed the springs without looking where my spring shackles were sitting and at what angle. Apparently Bellamy needs to know where the shackles were sitting to be able to replace my springs and remove the blocks. Soooo, long story short - can anyone help me and give me a rough idea of what angle the shackles sit on when car is sitting down. I am assuming they would've been 45 deg or more to the rear of the car - This way, I won't need to reassemble anything.

Trying to take a short cut :-)

    Cheers!
