  1. Hey guys,

Am in need of advice/ wisdom from more mechanically minded people. I have recently sourced myself a 2L pinto out of a Capri. The engine was running when i picked it up, and my intent at the moment is to put it into my Mk 2 Escort (Stand, 4 door, manual, 4 speed).

So my questions are as follows, if someone could answer some of them. (bearing in mind i am wanting to do this type of engine swap as i have only a basic mechanical knowledge, and want to improve it).

    1. What do i need to do to the Escort and the Pinto, to put the Pinto in?

    2. What electrical and wiring tasks need to be done?

    3. What work would needed to be done for more power? (Without going the turbo route and sticking with this engine).

    Any help would be great!!!

  2. Yeah so far as im aware its a 1983 2.0L ohc pinto with a 5 speed all from a capri.

Im more after advice on installation and work require to do it.

And whether much more HP would be achieved or just work the 1600.

    Cheers.

  3. Hey guys am looking into a new carby,

The guy that tuned my car atm said something like getting a 28/30 DGVA weber as he said this suits a 1600?? is this a carby and if so where can i get one.? (with a manifold)

Would love to get something set up sooner rather then later. Also, difference between a side draught and a downdraught?

  4. Haha no worries, I will get some up in the next few days.
Ive only just got it back from getting the carby tuned today.

The old guy at the mechanics who tuned it said that i should look into getting a 28/30 DGVA. Thoughts/recommendations?

Currently its driving like a dream after the retune.

  5. Hey guys,

Was wondering if anyone would know were the best place to get a 28/30 DGVA? or something of an equivalent nature.

And best way to get it tuned?

    Cheers mana.

  6. Hey guys,

new member and recently have got my self a 1600cc 1980 ford escort.

Its pretty much all original except for the extractors and new 2" exhaust put on to the car.

Having miniamal mechanical knowledge i believe it currently has the standard single barrel stock carburetor and have a few questions i wouldnt mind answered.

    1. What would be a good aftermarket carburetor to put on to it? and what work would need to be done.

    2. Does anyone know of a good place near Palmerston North to do so.

    3. what work would need to be done if a 2.0L engine and 5 speed transmission were to be put in the car/ a rough costing to do so?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
