  1. Hi all,

Just a quick question, anyone done a 3tgte conversion into a ta22 Celica on here? Just after some advice about linking up the factory throttle cable ( was on a 2T,twin carb) to a 3tgte. I'd make one up myself but I haven't got a clue where to start or whether or not I could mod the existing.

    Cheers,Mitch.

  2. Ok that's some sound information to go off Ben,I'll get into some of your suggestions as soon as I can.Yea the guy I got it off recons that it's been like that the entire time he's had it ( which is not very long )and maybe that's a reason he was happy to sell it who knows because the rest of the car is quite emaculate.I think it has an HKS sprocket to up the supercharger boost but I totally agree that a HD clutch would be over kill for that unless whoever put it in decided it was better.Maybe I'll just do the clutch and timing belt all at the same time and be done with it.that way it's all done and eliminated as a fault.

  3. Sorry, the pedal has the full travel as far as you push it down 6 or 7 inchs until it hits the floor/ but the clutch only engages within one inch of that total travel if that make sense? For example most clutchs once the clutch starts to bite until the point where it's fully engaged is a couple of inchs.this one how ever you bring it up slowly with some revs and instead of it slowly engaging its 3 inchs of nothing then BAMN it's on fully.I hope that makes sense,I am pretty crap at describing things!

  4. I try my best with the few blips but the engagement is again so small that it makes no difference really and it is almost always close to staling.there must be a recertification to this problem as I'm sure is hasn't been like this since standard, esp being the mr2 owners club founders car haha

  5. Ok I mite give Reuben a bell because that's my local BNT as Well, better yet I'd just take it in and see what he recons! I'm in nelson atm and will be driving her up in September. But that shorter rod sounds interesting.I have it in lock up down here atm and havnt really taken it out because the weather's been average and icey, but it'll be all ready for summer with the problem sorted hopefully as Well as a two toned lower half! also my ta22s wiring sorted too I hope :/

  6. So the list of things I have to change sounds pretty long? Are there any members in the nelson region or Auckland region ( heading back there in Sep) that would be keen to take a look and give a bit of a verdict? Just do I don't go changing things that don't need to be changed!

  7. Yup it's gizmo, has the plate little custom data plate on it and everything. I think it's just over 160kms. So the slave cylinder can give out and give it a small amount of engagement travel? It can't be a normal set up as it's almost non existent!

  8. Hi guys and girls.

I have just bought a neat and tidy little Aw11 supercharged manual, originally owned by the mr2 owners club New Zealand's founder I found out after buying and my question is this.

The clutch works fine the only issue I have is that the engagement/disengagement travel seems to be an inch or less ( i.e. the clutch is either on or off).

Now it's fine going from 1st up through the gears, only problem is the start stop traffic in Auckland is a nightmare to deal with,so I'm trying to work out wether its a heavy duty clutch,or somethings out of adjustment? I know you can adjust the back of the clutch pedal etc.

So any info would help. The pedal didn't feel heavy but then again I'm use to a city turbo clutch which is cable and a bit stiff.

If it's a heavy duty I'll just change it to a standard.

  9. sweet as, i rang up the guys at Autolign and after a bit of digging about and a few phone calls they managed to pick me one up ex-auzy for $130 nzd so no dramas there!

My last possible item needed is a rear sway bar set up. i know that are not necessary and from memory i never removed one from the original car when i did the diff. but i see white line do a fancy little adjustable kit.

The cars is in no way shape or form a track day car and is only for cruising so i know its not needed, but dose anyone recommend it?

I have been emailing the fellas from techno toy tuning and spoken to him about making a bolt on big brake kit for the TA and they recon they will, that combined with the big rear kit for my ae86 rear end will give her some mean stopping power, so do i spend the extra dosh and make her handle like a champ aswell ?? :P

  10. Roman; yea I was thinking of going custom adjustable. I have also lowered the car and the diff its currently installed and central so all in all it is about 50mm to long now. Granted when I took it all apart it was running standard springs but I didn't think it would make a 50mm difference. Also I had an ae86 diff so I thought the pan rod I tried mite of been for that.

  11. Yea I saw that white line did one and not at a bad price either!only thing is they want $100aud shipping on top of that to auckland nz for a rod! Now with the exchange rate back to where it use to be before it was almost dollar for dollar that's about $270 NZD once all's said and done :/ unless I can persuade someone to get it for me and biff it in the post haha

  12. Hi all!

Bit of a stupid question but I removed my diff a long time ago and reconditioned it them re fitted it.I didn't have time to fit the pan hard bar before I had to move it to my new place and it got list in a big pile of boxes.

So my question is, how long is the factory bar centre to centre?

I found a pan hard bar in my boxes but it seems to be at least 50mm too long ! This one measuring 875mm centre to centre

Has anyone got a factory one to hand they could measure for me?

    Cheers in advance! Mitch

  13. Ok so if i run a line from the crankcase and the rocker into one catch can and then vent that it should equalise it? Atm i just have a small filter on the rocker so it vents and the standard crankcase vent that i could run to a catch can.

Then again if i dont run a line back into the air inlet will i even need a catch can?

Or just use it to catch the oil before it vents into the engine bay :P because she freaking clean atm!

  14. hi guys quick question!

on my 3tgte toyota engine i have a crank case breather on the block as well as what i am sure is a rocker breather on the rocker cover.

so my question is would i run separate oil catch cans for each the rocker and crank case or can i run both into the 1 oil catch can and then into the air intake (pre turbo of course ).

    any help would be great!

    cheers ya'll :D
