  1. Loving having this thing back on the road.

    317640602_5995232307162890_8770707335442001584_n.thumb.jpg.2b0e40fdf9f404c460b4a28c23813dab.jpg

After doing some trips i noticed one of the soft fuel line were leaking so replaced them all.

I then spend some time fiddling this the pumps base fueling and managed to get a lot more go out of it. Always though it was slow but just accepted it as its only a 2.5td in a bigger wagon. Turns out that some one had messed with it before and wound the base fuel as far out as they could (wondered why it only idled at 650rpm).

This thing feels like a lighting ship now. Only down side its when you step on it im pretty sure you can watch the needle move.  Its still in stock boost (6psi). Very tempting to chuck a boost tap on it a sneak it up a couple of psi.

Also replaced the drivers side hub because the inner bearing the supports the Cv shaft decided to leave the chat about 5kms away from anywhere 2wd friendly.

  2. So this bring us to the pain in my ass that happened 4 months ago

    1204485203_288667142_5505125176173608_7963663418785265320_n(2).thumb.jpg.e691644fb7280c9f2e9cbfe7047a1194.jpg

So the sunroof, was always the worst part of the truck. It has been sealed up multiple time over its life to try to stop it from leaking (and had pretty much never not leading to it not having are carpet when i bough it). I believe a logging truck passing were i was part deposited a rock in the the sunroof causing the mess above, not helped Im sure by the rust out frame the glass is glued down to below. And i quickly found out that getting a replacement was going to be hard.

    288727884_5505097292843063_2186986377244324839_n.thumb.jpg.594b702c8a2c11a3a14bd9ebdcacc15e.jpg

Could get a second hand sunroof anywhere in NZ, Mistibushi NZ didn't have a new one. I could only get a new one out of japan witch would of been around $2500 + freight and maybe border tax too.

So i though heck lets see if my insurance would do anything about. First off to the glass shop, they didn't want anything to do with it. So then to the panel beater, after 3 weeks of waiting they got back to me saying what i knew "We cant get you a replacement, but we can offer a steel panel repair to your insurance as an option". I was happy with this so said yes. A full 2 weeks later insurance get back to me saying sorry cant get the part and that they don't want to cover a panel repair, but would pay me out for what a replacement would of cost however they would have to get a price from Mitsubishi NZ. So another week went by, i started getting quote to have in paneled over and they finally got back to me saying that the repair would cost $3570 if they could do it and to expect the money in my account in a day or so.

A this point all the quote for repairs i got were all stupid money (even with me stripping and refitting all the interior my self) the best being at $2500-3000 just for the steel work no paint. So i though fuck that ill just do it my self. and just pocket the money for later mods.

  3. I had also noticed that the EGR was leaking a bit and i felt like she was getting a bit lazy to spool up on to boost (all 6psi of it). Decided to make my self some EGR blanking plate. now the Boost hit nicely at 2,200rpm.

To my surprise the intake wasn't really gummed up with any carbon ether.

Also while i was in there i set the tappets and replaced the leaking rocker cover gasket.

  6. At this point I didnt really have a daily Due to the death of Barb the BFMR not having a Wof and being in the middle of selling the Mx5.

So i ended up swapping the BFMR for a black top Carib. I though great this will do both daily and could be a bit of fun

    26165830_1749111191775044_4428504009910165988_n.jpg.3b8deadcb8105e42a06c58af38dd2c28.jpg

After replacing the knock censer I quickly got to replacing the rear shock and putting in some firmer spring as well as throwing in some camber bolt to sharpen up the handling

Also had to find some new wheels for my semi slicks to go on ended up with 2 pairs

  7. After this i decided i wonted to relive my boy racer teen year and brought a Mazda BFMR sight unseen from Christchurch.

When i turned up (after sitting on the dock for a week as 1 of the 4 corded triers and gone flat (fresh Wof from clearly a doggy garage)) i relisted it wasn't as clean as it seemed and might of been a thrash pig for meany years with out any proper care. but i though i can sort this.

So after Finding and fitting a new turbo (was fucked), remaking the exhaust (welded my pigeons), replacing the rear shocks (had fwd ones witch are longer that 4wd ones), got proper sway-bar mounts, rewired the rear light loom (had shored out?), made a tie down to hold the battery, new wheels with semi slicks (well second had anyways), a new steering wheel that wasn't bent and adding a catch can i though lets do a couple of auto crosses in it.

These were held in Upper Hutt and i did enjoy them but the that was was going to blow the box or center diff every timew i whent around a barrel left me with deciding to sell thiss for something else.

I don't have any photos of the events but here a few of the car

  8. So really bad at taking photos but i did 3 of these events in Barb (the corolla) before she met an untimely death. At this point i had joined a local club here in wellington, Harbor Capital Car Club.

I had an mx5 for a weekend car at this point a decided to head to manfeild for my first track event

this was a really fun day being the full main and back track linked together making it 5.4km. Unfortunately 6 foot 4 me dosnt really fit in an mx5
