  1. right so, in order to get wof i need to fix the indicators, and there is a lose right front ball joint. plus the tyres are on there last legs but should be good enough for this wof at least. i took a quick look at it when i got home and was able to fix the drivers door handle that was on the piss, but a lil WD40 loosened that up. and checked the fuse box and the one for the indicators was blown, and when i put anther one in it blue straight way so clearly something is up. but with my lack of knowledge i dont know where to even start looking, SO ANY ADVICE PLEASE >discuss here < because i am admittedly a novice when it comes to the electrical side of things. but in any case, ive been planning how im going to go about lowering it. For the back; 2-4" lowering blocks. that should be enough because i want to keep the flat deck and am not keen on having to cut out the wheel well. For the front; cut one or two coils, buy shorter shocks to compensate and then wined the torsion bar down and that should be heaps, something like 4-6 inches, maybe more if i wined the bar down heaps also just planning just widening the steelies that are on it and then stretching some tyres. right so i got some photos of the yota now as it stands before anything is done, and thats it guy, ill hopefully get some work done tomorrow after work and if all goes well, wof on friday or saturday!! discuss here
  2. thanks for the offer bro, but i was thinking of just rolling the guards, because i was only planing on running 14or 15 x 8s so i dont think it will be wide enough to need the flared 4x4 cards.
  3. yota project, discuss here! cheers guys project thread
  4. hey guys! so this is for my new stance project, a yota! not an austin... oops brought this 85 2wd 2L flat deck hilux! got it for $1000 off a mate, not wof and reg until 14/11/14 and the inspiration for this project are as follows BUT FIRST!!! WOF!!! discuss here
  5. well well well, the green bean is still dormant... thing of hot wiring a switch into it instead of the ignition coz the knead it is just not a perminient fix, and i havnt been able to source a new plug.. so tempted to put a hidden push button in. BUT IN OTHER NEWS!!! I BROUGHT ANOTHER PROJECT!! (oops...) it is a 85 hilux, 2wd, for $1000 will link to new build thread for it once one is created
  6. rightyo, so she still isnt running, but today i was motivated enough to push the green bean out and give it a wash (even though it was close to raining) stuck my boot lid badge back on, looks mint haha, and thats all that happened today, haha so not a big update by any means. also took my mates 85 bluebird wagon out for a boost and a wash, then worked on the sounds for it this is a lil edit i didnt of it
  7. HAHAHA thats crack up, i thought i would be the only one to think of that haha all i need now is a gt steering wheel and itll be even similar
  8. rightyo, been slack on updates but oh well, so she is still not running but im holding out to turn it over until the "neat it" is fully dry so i probably not do anymore work on her until the weekend, i got some little things done the other after night after work. > got my pick-a-part cup holder painted (black and gold splatter) and installed. > made my number 13 pool ball gear knob and screwed it on tight > finished my exhaust tip and put it on, looks good, just have to wait until i can hear it again. > also re installed my stereo after pulling out the head unit to get to the other wiring. > removed and repainted the boot badge to the original colours. well not really but black red and silver so closer to original than mate green haha. photos follow. (discussion)
  9. tried to get her going today. the ignition is working again so was ticking over which was good but it still didn't start so i wasn't happy, and i'm stumped to as why. got the exhaust tip made up painted and on, looks good i think, just a simple tip the takes it out to the end of the bumper with a nice angel up too. i also made a trip to the hobby shop and got some paint, i took the boot lid badge off and have re painted it to the original colours so that should look good when its dry will add photos after work tomorrow after work discussion
  10. so i havnt been on in a very long time, but thats pretty much only because i havnt done anything on the car until now, i finially figured out what was wrong with the ignition and found out how to fix it, so thats happening and should be done by tomorrow and then its just a matter of seeing if the old girl will run again,. i have also planned on making my exhaust a bit more appealing, ive decided to length it and have it bend up the the back of the bumper but mot got passed it, and also have it a little larger at the end like a funnel just because hahaha. so thats tomorrows plan, ill ad pics when its all done (discussion)
  11. hahah thanks man thats sick!! i decided im not going to sell it because i just like it too much to let her go. thanks for all the advice too guys, i found out after pulling the ignition apart that the plug at the back of there ignition barrel has a key shape on the inside that turns with the key activating each stage of the ignition, i after pulling it out i found that this thing was completely stripped so when you turned the key it didnt grab on and move with it, hence not doing anything to start the car. i havnt been able to find another one anywhere so i have filled the hole with "knead it" and have calved it out to fit, so ill put it back and try it tomorrow hahah
  12. right so long time no update. have taken the old girl off the road for now and have brought a new daily...(Peugeot 206gti) after failing the last wof i was still driving it but a couple a weeks ago the ignition has stopped working.. for some reason when the key is turned there is nothing happening at the starter motor,. can still roll start and still drives mint but i cant be bothered parking on hills everywhere go.. so i took her off the road and decided to sort everything out and get wof in one hit,... and then most likely sell it to fund a new project that hopefully wont be such a lemon. so enjoy this photo as its the last one i got of it on the road... for now.
  13. ITS BACK ON THE ROAD!! finally back on the road and driving all sweat. been driving it flat out for the last two days to make up for lost time over the last 2 months. adjusted the brakes, re bleed the clutch, broke a spark plug then replaced it haha. and then it was all good brakes got relined during last week so its as good as new now enjoy.
  14. so ive been having trouble tracking down new brakes as i was looking for a whole shoe but cant find anyone in the country with new or secondhand ones. so tomorrow while im at work my dads going to take my brake shoes in and get them sent to hamilton so they can get relined with new brake pads and we'll just have to use them, hopefully its done soon because im sick of driving my parents cars while the austin isnt going that the trouble of having your project as your daily
  15. hello everyone, i took the day off work today because i've hurt my back so cant do much at work. but i managed to get a little bit done on the car while i was home >did the timing and now she runs and revs right up all good, so i'm quite happy with that, its sounding better than before i put it way haha >covered my speaker box so that looks neat. >tided up the wiring inside the car as well so its looking better inside >and considering my heater had been disconnected i just took the control panel off from the bottom of the dash so that looks cleaner now too. >also painted the back light rings as they were the only pieces of chrome apart from the door handles that weren't black, but i quickly changed that. still waiting on new brake pads from wellington and hopefully they will arrive this week and i will be driving my car again by the weekend!! :D (speakers covered) (before painting) (AFTER!!) -> (discussion) <-
  16. HELLO!! first i would like to apologize for the slack updates, i know its been awhile so there is abit to talk about. since my last update i have failed wof twice and havnt gone back since as i've encountered problems that need attention. but firstly the reasons i failed wof.. > first attempt - rear right drum had only 10% braking force, rear sub-frame was too far to the right so the left side was rubbing, headlights needed to be aligned. and there was exhaust leaks. > second attempt. after fixing what i could... i failed on brakes again, right rear drum had 60% and was clearly still not good enough to pass. since last time, i have removed the roof rack as it started to sag and i was getting over it, i am still looking for a metal caged roof rack, old school one of course, so if any of you out there have one for sale and it is small enough to fit my lil car, plz get in touch with me. i have added a radio, new not old school, two 6x9's tucked under the back seats, still need to finished off the box so it looks better but hey it works, and i put the head unit under dash so is unseen from outside and is unperturbed inside. >got a new battery as the other one stopped holding its charge. >got new points in the distributor because it was miss firing due to bad spark. >car was fine up until the battery died, and now it doesnt seem to be running right at all, the engine isnt keeping up with the throttle. >tightened the throttle cable, helped but didnt solve the problem, >refurbished the fuel pump, better but still hasn't fixed the problem. and am currently still working on it but weather has been bad so ive been quiet unmotivated photos are of things that have happened since last update. (getting the holes in the exhaust fixed) (new exhaust mounts) (suspension rubbing before i fixed it) (brakes covered in fluid before cleaning them) (the speakers under the back seat, still yet to finish cover the MDF in back fabric) and finally the old girl at vtnz before she failed the second time -> (discussion) <-
  17. sorry i havn't posted in awhile, nothing much has been going on though. made it to beach hop, got lost of attention so was pleased with that. nothing mechanical wrong which is also good. so really nothing to complain about, and just for another positive. we got our new shed in!! almost ready too! so im pretty keen for that.
  18. havn't updated in a couple of days but basically nothing has happened really, i got the car pumped up on sunday and it rides a lot better and there's not as meany creeks and noises, but definitely doesn't look as good haha seems to be running fine and starting first time most days. getting keen for beach hop this weekend too! only going on saturday though because of work, but definitely message me if you are going to be there! would love to chat. -> (discussion) <-
  19. thanks heaps. im really enjoying it hey, its a great car, ill definitely be keen to get to the next meet and see everyone. thanks for the support!
  20. so it is quite low at the moment. will be raised back up tomorrow though so might solve a few other problems at the same time too.
  21. yeah thats where im going.. simon gave me his card
  22. so today i managed to lower it another 10mm but one side went down more that the other and so i had to let the other side down to even more.. so its a little bit too much low.. so i decided to bight the bullet and book in to get it pumped back up again on sunday, lets just home the cops dont pull me over between now and then. also i took it for a drive tonight once it was lower and there as a weird rattle noise that i hadnt heard before, so i think that the harder ride is taking its toll. i think it may just be the exhaust rattle though as its only happening at lower revs along with the fact there is no proper mount in the middle of the exhaust. fingers crossed its something easy. if anyone has any ideas then please please help! -> (discussion) <- ill put a photo up later of the new ride height
