gas stations and repco etc have generic multi fit gas caps that would be better than a rag
i tried both of them and neither repco, supercheap, or the petrol station had any what worked

So today was all the little odd jobs, nothing major (yet) - finish roof rack, seat covers, and my sticker arrived! yay!
roof rack!
sticking shuff one it!
no more hot asses!
and the sticker that just says it all...
and finally for today, i have to confess i made a mistake... i left my fuel cap at the petrol station. dam it... so if anyone has one spare and would be willing to sent it too me, please pm me, i havnt been able to find anyone around my area that has one.. i will pay you back the postage and whatever you think the cap is worth (within reason). but for now the old dish cloth will have to do.

Loving that roof rack you whipped up.
Man leave the blacked out chrome and color! It looks a little badass which is hard for any Austin 1300.
That rack is sweeeet.
thanks guys i finished the roof rack today and found an old beer crate in the shed, looks mean. check it out - HERE

if i make it to beach hop this year ill definitely be keeping a keen eye out for this mini, looks great!

so i found an old roof rack in the shed and it fit!! but it was boring and ugly, so todays project was building a wooden slatted roof rack using the same mounts
results are as follows!!the old
building the new one
and first test fit on the car!!so thats was as far as i got with that today, i had to do the first coat of treatment on the timber this arvo, and i also have another brace to put across the middle.another this that happened today regarding the car- i purchased a new air filter as it desperately needed one, and its surprising the difference it makes hahaand i went to one of the many op shops in town and brought a $4 suit case for the roof.. think it is fittingand thats pretty much been my day, there will be another post tomorrow when i finish my roof rack, stay tuned!!-> (discussion) <-

Fine choice of car, sir.
- So when you say you're going to make it more original, do you mean getting the bright work back to being bright? (bumper, grill, door mirrors etc)
- What year is it registered as? '74 or '75?
- If it's '74, pay tax up until Janurary 2015 and save yourself a bit of coin for when it turns 40.
- How's the interior looking? They tend to be hard wearing from the ones you see for sale.
- Do you have a Haynes Book of Lies? If not, get one and any other sort of workshop material, that shit is useful.
PS More pics _b
its registered as a 75 but was sold as 74.
yeah im keeping the bumpers and light rings black at the moment because of i don't think it'll look good with the matt green paint, so ill wait until its a decent colour, and as for the mirrors they are after market modern ones so im just going to replace them with some chrome ones later on too.
ill put more picture up today of the interior and engine bay as well as problem areas
Looks good man, I actually quite like the look of it with the black bumpers etc.
More pictures!
thanks! yeah i dont mind them too much ay, something different.
ill have more pictures later today

hi there,
so i recently brought a 1975 (or74) austin 1300.
got it for $2000 of a friend who needed the money for uni. i had always wanted one and when the opportunity came up i jumped at the chance.
it has a wof and rego and at the moment im using it as my every day driver to get to work.
my plans for it later on would be to make it original but for now i am going to have fun and make it into a old school raty.
there is a lot of work to be done- body work, little bit of rust, paint, and chrome, just to start, but thats all for later.if anyone can give me any advice or tips and tricks i am aways up to learn new stuff. and ill most likely be asking for advice a fair bit.
thanks everyone
(pictures will follow, soon!)
