I had this thing banging around my back garden for like 3 maybe 4 years ?
It's never run.
I give it a go every now and then but never get any luck, I also have pretty limited mechanical knowledge.
This is what I do know
- It has spark, cleaned the gap between plug gap.
- 170 psi of compression
- If I choke it gets fuel (still doesn't kick over or anything)
- If I apply start you bastard, it makes carburetor flames +10 bad ass points - 5000 practicality points
The above point would lead me to believe timing is out ? But i don't know how to check or adjust.
pls help me.
Here are photos to bring some hilarity to the post.
Cheers fullus.- 7

Hey man I've had one of them in my family for about 8 years now.
Only time it let someone down was when it snapped an alternator belt (not really the vans fault) and died. Other then that smoooth really slow sailing.
Mine has a little bit of rust around front window and drip rails above sliding door. Here's what I found with my van.
So Pros
- Fuel efficient
- Reliable as
- No one will steal it because you can catch them at a brisk walk.
- Campers are sweet, you'll have heaps of time while driving along to look at sights... cause its slow.
- It's a pretty skinny van so you can squeeze it in to places other van's cant reach you.
Cons
- Get used to road rage.
- Mine can get a bit warm when its driven hardish.
- A little rough on warm up and takes a we while to get there, but once there is good as gold.
- Rust I guess ? but nothing major. bottom of arch behind rear tire is the worst.
So in summary, its slow but it will get you there everytime.
Not sure if this was helpful I just like my van.

Shit sorry I forgot about writing on here.
Cheers guys, just need to sort out some niggly stuff then it will be awesome. -
Hello again, I'm going to be a little bit slack with updating this,
because I spend alot of time at Tech plus when im not there im studying.
Right so first things first, found out the hard way it doesn't like stop start traffic at 5oclock on a friday, attempting to get out of auckland. Solution pull over on motorway wait for engine to cool, refill water, heater on and drop rear engine bonnet and make sure I dont stop moving.Right so I ended up taking it to an auto sparky and he sorted it for me (turns out it was kinda my fault), and i've done some other stuff since.
I pulled rear door card things out and made another set so I could cut holes in my homemade ones and put speakers in the back.
Did an Oil and water change, which reminds me theres like this brown junk (see if i can get a photo) around oil filler cap and pcv hose. Is it a blown headgasket ?
I chipped all of the sound deadning out of the drivers and passenger footwells there is a leak somewhere and it's caused some rust, hasn't gone through but is close.
So this is my original list, i've ticked one off.
- Make it all one colour( I actually added more primer... shit)
- Remove whine coming from gear box
- Linkages aren't the best so sort them out.
Daily the hell out of it.
And this is what i have added to it
- Fix rust in both footwells
- Find and fix leak, think its coming through front bonnet.
- Find a way for it not to overheat in heavy auckland traffic.

There's a older guy who lives around me who drives a matt black flat deck Bedford (I think it's a Bedford), pretty sure it's got a 351 or 302. He hauls ass everyyyywhere.

Hi i'm Mason, ive being skulking around these forums for about 2 years and haven't really posted too much.
So a little while ago Threeonthetree told me to put my Suzuki up and ive just got round to doing it. (shit time management)
Right, so its powered by a F10a (45 timewarping horses) and its hilarious to drive, especially in the wet.Interior is probably the best thing about the car. The outside is many different shades of primer with bits of surface rust here and there, haven't found anything major yet but im sure there with be some suprises somewhere.
Plans
- Make it all one colour
- Remove whine coming from gear box
- Linkages aren't the best so sort them out.
- Daily the hell out of it.
Unfortunately it has recently deveolped an electrical fault (randomly the fault developed when i was installing the radio, weird) which has caused it to only be able to power the high beams and thats it. So if anyone has a wiring diagram for one of these long shot i know, please PM me or if you know a good auto sparky around the souf auckland area that would help too.
Cheers for Reading about my Japanesse rollerskate and hopefully i can bring it to more oldschool goings on
