I am currently in the early stages of this. Make sure you keep the leather pieces intact when removed as making patterns will be much easier that way ie. cut the thread with a stitch puller an use a thin blade to cut the glue.

I met a friendly fella the other day who has an air cooled 750 Honda v twin for sale. His uncle died on the bike and it's just sittin in his yard. The front end is toast but the rest of it looked salvageable. He reckoned he'd take less than a grand.

Been a few changes since January. I built a new back half of exhaust for the thing this morning. Sounds excellent, with a short can and 1.5m of straight 1.5" pipe out the rear. Old 50's AA badge and an old JAF badge now live on the grille. New slogan painted on the back of the tray as well.
Before my next wof in June I will replace at least the back shocks, possibly the front too. Nolathane bushes might find their way in there too while I'm in the area. I'll try to post some pics when I edit this post later on, but I'm too pressed for time this arvo so adios!

That was my first thought as well. The info I could find off the plates was that it was a Catalina, but judging by it's surroundings it wouldn't be a huge stretch of the imagination that the plates wouldn't match the car!

I went for a solo hunt/surf expedition through the Waipoua Forest last weekend. Quite a spooky place when you're driving through the mist at dawn, thirty kilometers down a metal road!
There's a small settlement in the middle of the forest with about 7 houses spread around a bend in the river. This '63 Pontiac Catalina was slowly being swallowed up by the forest, most of the back end and interior are made up of green matter now.Not far from here the road ends at a small causeway with a hefty gate and some classic no-outsider type signs "Mauna!" "This is how we do!".
I eventually found Uncle who got his nephews to unlock some gates for me. After weaving through the endless logging roads I found the coast and spent the night and the next day on a completely deserted beach.
I surfed a head-high right hand reef by myself for hours, and afterwards I went for a spearfish and hammered a snapper.
Best weekend I've had in a long long time.

Haha thanks guys! My Gran had a good lol as well, she's pretty good value eh. She's asked that I print the photo off for her so she can take it home and show her card-playing friends back home.
Next challenge is a pic of your os whip with a full 5 alarm fire going down in the background.
Bonus points for getting firefighters or engines in the shot.
Get your scanners out everyone!

This guy sold me an E13 engine this morning, I nearly had a 'gasm when he opened his shed and I saw this...
and then this, followed by this, whereupon he said "have ute too" and I saw this! The 180 is a runner with a set of dellortos on it, waiting for a tidy set of wats, the 280 is a turbo demon, the ute is a little resto project, and the 240 is his had-it-forever-and-just-waiting-for-the-right-time hero car (apparently a low build no. lightweight example). This fella was an absolute ledge, he even got up at 7am to hand over the motor so I could make it to my next engagement on time.- 5

My mate is contemplating buying this Commer Cob and driving it up from the 'ru to Mount Maunganui. Any known issues with these? Advice for a buyer? He's hoping to do a surf roadie with 60's longboards all the way up. Possibly make a movie while at it.

Had some idling issues over the last few days so pulled the carb apart and cleaned everything. Something was killing the motor at low revs, and while servicing the carb I also found out that my secondary hasn't sprayed any gas in years, it was way to clean and dry in there. I managed to find the blockages in both problems and got it all back together an idling sweetly at <1000rpm. Had a few spare moments in the shop left so I pulled off the rocker cover to replace the leaky gasket that's been keeping me off the driveway. Came out clean and easy, and after a quick wash and clean out, the new gasket was on and I was done. A photo of my cleaned rocker cover is hardly interesting so I'll leave that out.
Hopefully, I can land some contracts soon and start finishing off things like wheels, low, and wellside... that would make me a happy happy man.

If the horn button has only 1 terminal then usually the horn locator ring (goes between boss kit and wheel, hardly ever sold with wheel second hand) will have the earth terminal. You can solder it or sandwich the bare end of the wire between boss and wheel.
