Spotted in ET this morn. I didn’t want to get too close in case I drooled on its minty Perfection…
I spotted this heading south at the Ellerslie/Penrose off/onramp today at lunch, looked nice.

Zetec?
Resonably easy swap, except it seems to require a number of off the shelf (at least in the UK) but expensive parts to make it all go.
I Vote.
buy a 1600 kent engine and a serria 5 speed.
learn how to put it in.
Done.
This or Pinto should be easy enough, Pinto you probably should upgrade at least the front suspension as it is a heavier engine. You could also forgo the gearbox for now, less of an option if going to a different engine. Also avoid the DOHC "Pinto" from late model Sierra's, they are quite a differnt engine with little option to improve from standard.
What engine does your Escort currently have? If already a 1600 then you can do a fair bit to make them go betterer, same for 1300 to a lesser degree.
What model? If low spec you may have front drum brakes that probably should be improved before swapping any engine.
Diff ratio might also be a consideration but this should be easy enough to swap if need be.

Head to repco and ask for a louver anti-theft / fitting kit, Aunger brand. If they tell you they don't have them. tell them to look in the Griffiths catalogue.
Griffiths no longer import them and Repco do no seem to have any stock, at least in the Auckland stores I have tried.

I have tried Repco with no luck, thier suppliers no longer have them.

1265mm wide under the rear window, 1300mm wide where it bends down and along the back.Measured in the dark so might not be 100% accurate.

If the plate is GD1181 which is what it looks like yo me, then it is a 1972 Toyota Corolla according to carjam
EDIT: Obviously with a body kit of some description

Saw a Dark Blue 74 Jensen Interceptor going up Greath South Rd in Penrose today, but stupidly had left my phone at work.

Pretty sure most of nik69's stuff (and a few others) is from Burton in the UK, many of the pictures are identical to what they sell (although not the TCAs you have)

I think 13 inch suit escorts better
+1
If these RS style wheels are JBW then they should be available in 7" (at least they are in the UK) if required.
Also where did you manage to get louvre clips from?
And I haven't seen your car for a while, used to spot in Penrose upon occasion.

Yes the South African Ford arm did have some different stuff, AX crossflow block for a start and I seem to recall something about a different engine option for Cortina's too.
Anywho apparently it was a standard crossflow with a Rajay turbo and put out 61kW compared to 41kW as standard. More info (basically the rest of the article) here http://www.turbospor...th africa turbo (half way down)

Seeing these figures definitely makes me think more into dropping a pinto in for fun!
My Sierra gets about the same as my Escort (10.5l/100k) on the same trips (ie work)
-
I get about 10.5, mostly Auckland motorway (14k to work) and urban driving 1600 Escort 4 speed and 3.54 diff. I am also a bit heavy on the go pedal upon occasion.

Last one I saw on Trade Me was 15k I think around six months ago, had a dented roof and a little untidy but seemed to all there.
