Thanks for that, was more just questioning the design. Not a fan of bilsteins, seen other people run them in speedway and never seem to work properly.

Looking at getting a set of coil overs like these for my x61 but questioning getting cert for them, as its a ?McPherson? setup and the single bolt into the body probably wasn't designed to hold the weight of the whole car through the springs? And can get a set for the front but I'm assuming I would need some sort paper work with them saying they're built to some sort of standard?
Rear setup im looking at:

I was looking at this place, don't have many up north tho http://www.whitewalltyres.co.nz/. Might look odd on my gx61 but only one way to find out
-
I've got a bucket of white house paint, could fly up and do them for a very reasonable fee. Also interested on if there's a glue to hold em on.
-
I've tried it without ox but doesn't really do much in the way of heating just paints everything a nice black lol.
-
We just use lpg and oxygen and works fine for bending, beating and getting stubborn bolts out. Can't cut put sacrifices have to be made.
-
Awesome thanks for that. Helped answer a few questions.
-
I honestly have no idea thought red tops were the GEU and blue the GE?
-
I thought about getting one of these. If you type in gx71 into yahoo Japan parts and they pop up from what I've seen.
That's all I do, get heaps of random crap but theres some good stuff hidden on there. Shipping on things this big is through the roof lol.
Sweet will try sort out getting a mold done this week.
-
It's only a 1G GE out of a mk III supra. Brought it off Trademe, The guy also had a gte head, turbos, piping for sale but couldn't afford t all.
-
First attempt failed forgot to change the sump -facepalm- but now its in with the gearbox
-
I've got a llooooong way to go before I even think about mounting it tho lol

Im in christchurch

Alright, the loom I pulled out of x61 is pretty haggard and the loom I got with my 1gge looks heaps better. I have decided to hopefully get the car plugs changed and run it instead if its possible. Either way I will need plugs changed on 1 of them, noticed a few that are different and probably more as well.
Where/who is the best place to get something done? And can I just take the 2 looms in and get it done or would the whole car need to go?
-
Hopefully going to get a mold done next week, Importing it wasnt cheap lol.
Not really sure what you would call it , packing slip said valance so left it at tha.
-
Alright, just received this and was wondering how to mount it? Is there some kind plastic pin/bolt/clip I can get?
-
Just got these from Japan, Not exactly for an x61 but they do look pretty damn epic sitting on. don't know how the valance will handle chch roads tho. Also started attacking the high amount of rust and bog in the car, have no idea what to do just making it up as I go along .
-
Uhh bugger, will just have to keep it under the radar as long as possible. way to much needs tidying up before i even attempt to get cert. Rust, bog and cable ties won't quite cut it lol.
-
sorry if its been asked but search found nothing and reading 80 pages would kill me. Do I need cert if Ive swapped a engine for the twin cam version (1geu to 1gge) and a manual conversion using all bolt on parts from the same chassis?
Edit: Think I just found the answers, but someone who knows there stuff to say yes or no would let me sleep easy at night

Better late than never right?
Name (first is sweet): Todd
Location: Christchurch
Cars you own: Gx61 Mark II Hardtop Pre Facelift
Mods to them (can be brief or detailed): 1GGE,Manual,Gx71 rear valance and spoiler, Removed weather strips and pin stripes, 6-2-1 extractors. Most of which are all sitting in the garage waiting to be put in/on lol.
Link to pics (if you have some, and keep it a link to keep 56kers happy)
How you found out about oldschool: Complete accident
Anything else you want to add: Sadly the Mark II comes second as racing speedways worse than a full time job.

Wow nice find, Makes mine look like a parts car. Keen to see what happens with finding a set of coil overs.
-
I've got a scan here of a 1G exhaust flange with basic measurements, if anyone's keen to turn it into a cad drawing I can get cut out so I can start a new set of Headers. Trying to do it myself but could spend years trying to get it right.

Gearbox has been sitting in the shed for a while waiting until I found something to bolt it to which has turned out to be a 1G GE
Just need to get it into here and sort the loom and ecu out.
