Ronin is awesome one of the all time greats.
who's seen this? Running on Empty 1982 is totally awesome!
Got this on dvd - great movie for sure.
"Gone in 60 seconds" - the original, not the Nicholas Cage version. It has a really long car chase without cgi.
And "Vanishing Point", again the original.

I wonder how much it sold for as well
It went for $1025.
A friend of mine was bidding as he has a Gen 1 MTEU Celica Supra.

I found out this vehicle got picked up today by someone physically at the auction.
Did a club member end up with this or does anyone know who now owns it?

David with the Celica Supra, if you're lurking - here are some pics of the 288 GTO that was at Hampton Downs earlier in the year, as discussed the other night:
My tongue is on the floor.......
Thank you.

hi,
I have a ms75 crown I want to upgrade with a 7mge. I have a complete MA70 with 7mge and auto gearbox. now want to buy a manual for it. tought about R154 becaus if I curseword up the 7mge I could proceed maybe to a 1 or 2jz.
will the r154 bolt up to the 7mge or will I need a bellyhousing from a w58, or will I have a lot of other issues
plan!?, or just don't...
Hi,
A couple of things I have found out:
The bellhousings on the R154 and W series gearboxes are not interchangeable.
The flywheels for the 5/7M do not fit the JZ engine.
The 7M is known to have head gasket probloms but if it is re-torqued, they do last longer (Toyota did release a document to the service people for this).
It was suggested to me when I did my 7MGTE into an MX73 Cressida that it was a silly idea. I did it anyway... Needed to change sumps, oil dipstick locations, oil pump pickup angle, driveshaft couplings, etc.
Yes, you will always encounter problems not matter what you do. The wiring is not going to be fun no matter what you put in. Is your Crown currently fuel injected? You need to consider that too.
Just look at the swap one part at a time. Focus on one problem and get it sorted, then switch to something else, and so on. With the wiring, do the same - look at one wire at a time, not the lot. It took me maybe 3 months to sort mine out but there was more than just the engine/trans swap on the Cressida.
Be prepared to take longer than you plan for .

Does anyone happen to know if the M Series engines have compatible headers within the series or possibly out?
I'm looking at upgrading on my M-EU but it is proving pretty hard to find much info. I know Celicas and Mark IIs used them for a minute but I can't seem to get much depth of knowledge.
I went to Woolf Mufflers in Dominion Rd Auckland to replace the standard cast iron manifold on my 5MGE with a set of extractors that had to come in from Australia.
They didn't fit properly and had to be modified. Australia only seemed to get the 5ME.....
It might take a while but you should consider making your own. I did this for the second set and the local welder gave me some useful tips on assembly. I think it took a little over a month as I don't have a welder and would pop up and see him on Saturdays for welding.
I now have an equal length (primaries) extractors and with the HPC on them, I'm more than happy.

Damn!!!
I am wanting to do this but work commitments mean I can't go.
I had even thought about seeing if anyone else from Auckland would be keen for a run down there later this year.
Good luck and I'd like to hear how the workshop tour goes - definitely wanted to do that too!

Also, couldn't thank Karl, Amy and Rod enough for organizing this. Such a super sweet place. I can easierly justify the price of going to leadfoot now
And thanks from me too, Karl and Amy. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. Well done on a great event.
I'd be a 'starter' for the Leadfoot event too.

Heya,
So I'm a first timer fag currently stuck in the process of wiring up the 4age into the ke70, the loom is missing plugs and wires have been cut left and right. I have a spare loom to salvage plugs etc from that would just need to be extended back to the ECU I assume?
If any OS GC could please give me a hand or even just guide me to getting it going, it would be so very much appreciated and I will make sure you walk away with a box or cash and even the honours a first drive
Thanks!
Stan.
Stan, I've done a 4AGE into an early AE92. I can give you my wiring stuff and help out if you wish.
We'd have to plan a day or two ahead as I live in Pukekohe....

Anybody got any ideas on where to get some tyres for 14x8.5?
Ideally i think 225/50s/ or there abouts would be ideal,But the problem is purchasing them in nz
I picked up a couple of 225/50 x 14 tyres (BFGoodrich) through Ewan/Hayatonka. Send him an email, he may be able to help out if you get no luck elsewhere.

From my experience with this and comments from a few others, I definitely wouldn't do it again. My extractors were purchased from an Australian firm that supplies Woolf Mufflers in Dominion Rd. Perhaps if the tubing for the extractors was thicker, who knows.
After a couple of years, the accumulation of heat up and cool down with the wrap changed the extractor's metal composition. They cracked in what I considered non-stress points and a welder i go to for anything (he's been in the welding and motoring business for a long time) said he wouldn't be able to weld the cracks.
I've now made my own set and have had them HPC'ed. I can't say how that goes yet as I think I've only had the engine running for perhaps four hours tops.

never used him, but Ewan seems to be the go, if in the north island.
I've used Ewan for a front cut as well as parts. Very helpful guy.

Thanks Simon for finding this.
I've been and picked up some stuff for the MA61 and Barry was very helpful.
Helpful to the point of looking in out of the way cupboards and boxes for anything related to the Celicas.

I'm keen to attend this.

Are you replacing some flares or are you looking to attach them to your non P-type guards.
There is a difference in the actual shape of each type of guard.
PM me with a contact number and I will call you.
